25.01.2022 @physio.james is outputting some great knee injury content . Jump over and follow James. In the meantime this is a great review of the benefits of strength training . Posted @withregram @physio.james STRENGTH IS KING ... you can’t go wrong getting strong Does this mean stretching or other interventions are bad? NO Every person or athletes has their unique needs. Does a kickboxer or BJJ athlete need mobile hip joints, yes! Does sustained stretching benefit a yoga practitioner, most likely! What this study highlights is the fact that if we are looking for the most effective tool to reduce sports injury risk, it is strength training. But this information needs to be carefully applied to each person’s specific needs. Also the majority of RCT’s in the study were performed on soccer, basketball players, and volunteers. Whilst the information is very beneficial it may not take in to account variationces of other sports.
25.01.2022 Congratulations to the @sthildasschool 1st VIII on the weekend’s Head of the River

13.01.2022 In episode 234 of The Physical Performance Show Brad Beer shares a conversation with Andy Blow: Sports Scientist, Precision Hydration Co-Founder in this Expert Edition. Over the years, there have been many mixed messages from drinking to thirst to avoiding dehydration at all costs through to making sure we are not too over hydrated and risking the ill effects of hyponatremia. So how do we make sense of hydration science? That is our focus for this expert edition with Andy Blo...w sports scientist and founder of Precision Hydration. Andy explores the history around hydration for performance. Drinking to thirst versus drinking to a schedule, what to do before we exercise, special considerations for hot environmental conditions, hydration needs relating to the length of an event sub 60 minutes right up to nine to 10 hours plus and the importance of understanding our own sweat rate and sweat concentration in trying to best look after our own hydration needs and therefore performance. and listen in to this episode on your favourite podcast channel or full show notes https://www.pogophysio.com.au/blog/andy-blow/ This episode is sponsored by our upcoming Livestream with Dr Shona Halson - "Recovery Essentials for Optimal Performance" #hydration #hydrate #sweat

In this blog I touch on a few studies that investigated tape’s potential benefits on knee conditions such as Osteoarthritis (OA), Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) and Patellar Tendinopathy (PT).
