15.01.2022 NETBALL SHOOTING Shooting is the only way you accumulate points in netball, so it is essential to master the art of hitting nothing but net. Control, accuracy and technique are primary to any shooter, and practising drills that... improve those skills are necessary for any team to be successful. Have you ever wanted to be a goaler? Follow the posts each day on shooting and you never know what’s ahead. This is a perfect time for all goalers to be practising &; we all know- practice makes perfect! SOLO SHOOTING DRILL This netball shooting drill, which focuses on technique, can be completed with only one shooter, one ball and a netball post. While lining up with the post, a player should stand feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent while holding the ball predominately with the shooting hand and supporting it with the second, balancing hand. With arms stretched upward and elbows touching the ears, the player's arms should bend at the elbow behind the head and shoot. The power of the shot comes from your legs being steady and bent. Wait for your knees and arms to begin straightening, and once your body is extended, take the shot, making sure you spin the ball backward with a little flick of the wrist. You can repeat this drill from all angles. SOLO SHOOTING DRILL 2 Place the ball next to your goal post. Pick the ball up and sprint 5 metres and back to the post, deep breath whilst then only taking three seconds to put the shot up. Change the direction and place of where you're sprinting to every few shots until you drop 10 goals. PARTNER SHOOTING OR SOLO: 10 SHOTS This drill can be performed solo or with two players, one post and ten markers or cones. Each marker or cone should be lined up at various points, and the player who is shooting should be timed to see how long it takes to make a shot from each one. The feeder (or mum and dad) will rebound the ball each time the shooter attempts a shot, and the shooter can only move on once a shot is made from the given position.
15.01.2022 Due to the weather U11&U15/18 training has been cancelled

11.01.2022 THE SIX PHASES TO BEING A GREAT GOALER PHASE 3 BALANCE AND STANCE- Bent knees, a shoulder width stance and proper grip are essential for keeping your body balanced while shooting. The power of the shot comes from your legs being steady and bent. Wait for your knees and arms to begin straightening,... and once your body is extended, with a flick of the wrist, take the shot. PHASE 4 GRIP- How you hold the ball really matters. Your shooting hand gives your attempt spring, power and spin. Your supporting hand should be holding the side, offering support and helping with aim. Cradle the ball with your fingertips on your shooting hand, and spin the ball backward with a little flick of your wrist. Practice this with your shooting hand only for your first 10 shots of your session before then placing your supporting hand for the rest of your practise. This will give you a feel of what the dominant hand should be doing.
11.01.2022 5 Phases of defence- 5th Phase Delay -Put your arms up over the ball. Follow the ball with your arms and hands and try to block the vision of the thrower. If the attacker gets rid of the ball, you need to block their next move down the court so that it delays... them getting back into the game. Cheers Lizzy & Elly
10.01.2022 6 Phases of being a great defender and goaler Phase 1 (Goaler) PRACTICE- Spend a lot of time by training. Spend 15-20 min a day honing your skills. Once the technique is second nature, the rest will come and you’ll feel more confident in high pressure situations.... Phase 1 (defence) Shadowing Adopt the defensive stance and shadow the attackers every move. Feet should be shoulder-width apart and pointing straight ahead. Stand on the balls of your feet, not flat-footed. Knees bent. With knees bent properly players should not be able to see their toes when they look down. Bodies upright and bottoms tucked in. Arms by side and relaxed. Head up and eyes up. Keeping head up also keeps your upper body straight Stand in front of your opponent with back to them, your body halfway across their body. Keep arms close to your sides. Feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, back upright.Keep a good vision of both the ball in front & the player behind you. (Using peripheral vision) Shadow the player’s moves using fast feet to keep up with them. Do not turn your head- move your feet faster instead.
09.01.2022 There was a special guest at tonight’s Zoom training with PCNC’s unofficial mascot Gracie!

The Link has been sent via team app.

06.01.2022 THE SIX PHASES TO BEING A GREAT GOALER PHASE 5FOCUS- Ignore the defender and pretend you’re at training. Do you best to only concentrate on the shot. With the goal post directly in your line of site, it is unlikely the defender will reject the shot. Controlling the direction the ball goes with your arms, fingers and wrists focus on the back of the ring. With a flick of the wrist a goal should be yours! Because there is no backboard, by focusing on the back of the rim, the ba...ll should fall into the basket instead of go past it. PHASE 6 REBOUNDING- If for some reason your attempt doesn’t score, but you have remembered to spin the ball backward with your wrist during your shot, it should bounce back. After your release follow the ball to the ring, and get after it! If you’ve missed your shot, make up for it by getting the rebound and going for a second shot. Rebound the ball, take your time, focus and secure your goal!
06.01.2022 If your looking for something to do over this isolation period to stay fit, the team at Netfit has created a free app, with lots of workouts. Including high intensity work outs, Pilates, and a get ready program all the workouts are 30 mins or under. Search Netfit on the App Store to find it. Hope you are all staying safe!
06.01.2022 Great to be back at training (Social distancing of course)
05.01.2022 THE SIX PHASES TO BEING A GREAT GOALER Phase 1 PRACTICE- Spend a lot of time by training. Spend 15-20 min a day honing your skills. Once the technique is second nature, the rest will come and you’ll feel more confident in high-pressure situations. PHASE 2 TAKE YOUR TIME- you have 3 seconds, which doesn’t seem like much, but... once you get into a routine( it starts with catching the ball, landing, balancing and taking the shot within 3 seconds the same way every time) three seconds is more than enough time. See more

02.01.2022 Hi players The last couple of weeks I’ve been putting together some info in hope that its sets you up for the restart of the competition.... So far I’ve covered defence & goaling with midcourt to come. The defence component is for ALL players so please read & reread as its the fundamentals of getting turnovers and setting your team up for a win. Once you know the basics I will give you some extra tips at training that will help you to become THAT player that the opposition worries about. The goaling component is for ALL goalers and some more. Maybe you’ve always wanted to be a goaler but never had the confidence to give it a go. Well here’s your chance. Read through the info and if there’s something you don’t understand, msg or call me & I’ll explain. You should all have my number. Now’s not the time to become complacent, it’s the perfect opportunity to get out there and practice. I’m expecting great results when we get back to training & matches. Can’t wait to see you all again Lizzy
01.01.2022 Zoom training classes will now start at 5pm, so it stays lighter during the session, if you wish to participate in the zoom sessions and haven't already expressed interest, please send the night you usually train on to either Elly- 0487442508 or Liz- 0425 796 798 by Sunday night
01.01.2022 For the zoom classes we are lucky enough to have Mak from the Hornets go through all activities as examples follow the prompts in the videos to see them. Because of the shortness of the time during sessions it’s advised players look at the videos before beginning Zoom classes as there is no time to explain
