20.01.2022 My Place, My People, is a scriptwriting competition for the writers who live, work or play in Yarra Valley. It is about celebrating the community, exploring and... discussing its issues. The competition will include two categories: comedy, drama. The overall winner will receive a monetary reward, a public reading of their script, workshops and ultimately the possibility of a staged production with Exit Theatre. A panel of writers, journalists and theatre professionals will judge the scripts. They will be looking for interesting stories, strong character development and a distinctive style. The scripts should be no longer than ninety minutes and include a maximum of 5 characters. Exit theatre Inc. believes that Yarra Valley is a home for many artists, writers and performers and the aim of this competition is to bring creative members of the community together, highlight some of these artistic skills and work toward a community based stage production. Exit Theatre believes that cooperation between different arts groups can build a strong foundation for cultural development in the region. KEY DATES: Registrations by: 30 June 2014 Submissions by: 15 AUGUST 2014 Award Night: late October 2014 For more information, conditions of participation, please email: [email protected] or follow Exit Theatre Inc. on Facebook. 05.01.2022 Sometimes, I have the feeling people think that artists do shows for themselves. Partially yes, as their creativity is like an addiction; they cannot stop creat...ing. Yet, they are producing the art, performances for people to tell them about the world, to discuss things that matter, things that sometimes we avoid to think about. And yes, Exit Theatre is producing the plays for you, Yarra Valley, so you do not have to go to Melbourne to see great shows. They might not be comedies, but they are worth seeing. Wake up Yarra Valley. Winter is not that bad, if served with warm wine and a good production. SPRINGER - only 3 shows left. This Saturday & Sunday @ Lilydale Youth Club http://www.theatre-exit.com/#!about1/c1uap

The Suicide of Solitude represents the conventions and experimentalism of modern European theatre and is listed amongst the ten best European contemporary plays in the catalogue of the best plays ETC-2012. Directed by Kristof Kaczmarek, Artistic Director of Exit Theatre Inc., the play opens on 11th July and runs over four weekends till 3rd August 2014. The Suicide of Solitude teeters on the border of tragedy and farce. The play deals with one of the essential issues of our modern society: suicide as a result of isolation (whether intentional or imposed) and loss of meaning of life. Yet, it allows the audience to choose the ending. The kaleidoscopic events (rescue, assault, murder investigation) provoke anticipation, laughter, fear and hope. SHE (Elizabeth OCallaghan) a distressed and elegantly-dressed woman is ready to jump off the roof of a nine storey building. Her intentions are interrupted by HIM (Kristof Kaczmarek) a mysterious man with a gun and a dead body. Is he going to persuade her not to jump? Or maybe the HUMAN CATS (Suhasini Seelin and Dawid Kaczmarek), that happen to be having a Celebration of the full moon on the roof, will do so. Full of witty twists and turns, this compilation of drama, farce, thriller and fantasy constitutes philosophical parable of the two souls that crave for love, yet are too trapped in their own existence to grasp it. A maze-play with elements of the absurd and surrealism, it brings the audience both to laughter and reflection. Tangled literally in ropes and figuratively in subtexts, a world that exists beyond time and space. Some spectators came to the show a few times and, from what they said, every time they discovered something absolutely new and unexpected by Andrii Karpenko (Drama Dialogue; The Day Newspaper, 2013) FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, TROUBLE WITH BOOKING: contact Beata Kaczmarek (Publicity Coordinator of Exit Theatre Inc.) on 0431875755 or email: [email protected]
