This work is formed from the idea of the unique perfection of each individual living thing and their essence being born and created on earth. The ‘essence’ of a person, animal, plant, rock, water, air and place is unique in the same way that a scent is unique to a flower which reaches far and wide. ... Simply explained the nest and egg represent the beginning of life which is a significant event for us all. The Western Australian local Guinea flower with its 5 heart shaped petals represents 5 human values through which we can live our lives and exist in harmony on this planet. These petals signify Love, Truth, Peace, Right Conduct and Non-Violence. How we live and have touched people and nature during our lives is felt far and wide without us even realising. Therefore, you will find the centre/essence of this flower spreading out from this work. Gaia or Mother Earth has her own essence and provides us with many gifts to sustain our existence and therefore the opportunity to experience our unique essence on this earth.
