25.01.2022 We love reading success stories about our former FOLLOW THE DREAM students. Tyrina Garstone attended our BROOME FOLLOW THE DREAM program and is now at The University of Melbourne, studying a bachelor of science, majoring in environmental and engineering systems. I didn’t realise the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples until I came to Melbourne. The emerging leadership and knowledge coming through is really inspiring," said Tyrina. The best thing for ...me was meeting different Indigenous students from around Australia. Learning isn’t based off academia, for me, it’s mostly been from listening to other people’s experience. I think moving to Melbourne made me realise how much I love Broome and Melbourne. It’s made me appreciate Broome so much more than if I’d stayed at home I now feel like I’ve got the best of both worlds . . . however I do miss being home. My successes to date and my current position at Woodside Energy would not have been realised without the support and dedication of the Follow the Dream program. #youngleader #careergoals #rolemodel #livingthedream Broome Senior High School

02.01.2022 Families were welcomed to CASSIA LEARNING CLUB in Port Hedland last week to meet our program coordinators and see what students have been learning this term. Students made afternoon tea for the families, they then read, played Kahoot on their iPads, went through their learning files and played dodgeball. What a great way to end a busy term! LEARNING CLUBS support Indigenous primary school aged children with after-school study time and project-based learning to encourage incr...eased engagement and participation in their educational journey. Students enrolled in the program are supported and encouraged by enthusiastic, experienced teachers and para-professionals who create a positive school culture and provide enriched educational pathways. 02.01.2022 Today we celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day. With the 2020 theme being We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice. Childrens Day is a time for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities and all Australians to celebrate the strengths and culture of our children. It is an opportunity to show support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and c...ommunity play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child. Childrens Day has been run annually since 1988 and is the initiative of SNAICC- National voice of our children. Students from our Warwick SHS Follow the Dream were able to listen and share what this day meant to them and FTD students Tahlia, Sharneil and Ozyfa created posters to reflect on this day.

02.01.2022 Students at our Hedland STEM Centre recently got their families involved in some fun at home challenges. The tasks were engaging, hands-on experiences that the whole family could solve together. Prizes were also on offer for the best efforts and achievements! I liked the Pompom Drop the best. Dad also helped me make a tower. Now I will be able to share the activities with my friends and family. - Ella (student in the program)... #learningforlife #familyfun #followthedream #STEM BHP Western Australia
