25.01.2022 Ok and the winner of our cute and funny #poochstaycay competition is! #busted featuring Mr Clyde the Staffy & Mr Monty the Pekinese from Redbank Plains Being home more, their mum Krystal was able to capture some hilarious moments Here, they both wanted the same chair & in the proceess of trying to out-stubborn one another, Clyde just ended up sitting on Montys head Thanks to everyone who entered. It was such a difficult decision but awesome to see the many ways... of how our Pooches help us through hard times. 14.01.2022 Gday everyone! I hope you all are safe and well and keeping positive in this unprecedented time and ever changing world. When I closed last week I was hopeful it may only be for a month-2 months at the very latest but I have been recently informed that it could be ALOT longer than that and in the interests of keeping of all my extended furrbabies healthy and happy, I would recommend anyone who needs their dog clipped within the next 4-6wks or who is renowned for getting... a matted coat, to get an urgent appointment IMMEDIATELY with your local vet for a complete back to bare metal shave off. I know this seems drastic but in speaking to groomers in the UK and the US, they already have laws stipulating that if any dog groomer is caught operating, fines of $1000, prison time and closure of their business are already in force. A dog over there can now only be clipped off with a Vet Certificate saying it is a health hazard and an emergency situation so as you can imagine the implications of this happening in Australia if we follow these guidelines are deadset mind boggling!!! So PLEASE, if your pooch will need assistance sooner rather than later... then schedule an appt with your vet and get it sorted so its one less thing you have to worry about. Other things to consider; Ensure you have enough dog food and any medications for your animals in light of you becoming sick and unable to leave home. Contact your local livestock/pet produce and see if they home deliver. Most businesses are just to keep afloat atm. Keep brushing your dog and being aware of any knots or lumpy bits in their coat, they are easier to snip out in the first week or two but once they turn into mats its ALOT harder to get off without hurting your babe and its bloody stressful when you are learning to get these off so if we can avoid that situation all together then happy days Keep a check in with neighbours/family/friends and have a system in place if you do get really sick and end up in hospital, someone can take your pets or at the very least keep them fed and watered. And remember... have fun with your pooches! Go for walks - (away from people), get out their favourite chew toy or make up a frozen treat ball for them, in a time where its easy to want to disconnect with this crazy world, its the perfect time to reconnect with your animals and nature and do some training or just have some 1 on 1 time I will be posting up videos here of grooming, maintenance & environmental enrichment ideas in the coming week aswell as our AWESOME #poochstaycay competition to help us focus on one of the awesome things about home isolation... spending time with our crazy pooches! Update regarding appointments in these uncertain times Working with animals, Ive always ensured strict cleaning & hygienic procedures and have increased these yet again so we can keep your pooches healthy and comfortable and maintain normal appointments unless: ... If you or anyone in your family has had flu like symptoms, has tested positive to COVID-19 or have been into contact with anyone who has, in which case well just reschedule your appointment until all is well Your house contains any higher risk people or you would just prefer to be in complete isolation for various reasons. In which case we can reschedule until further notice or I can meet your pooch at another location Evidence so far suggests that dogs fur can act as a fomite (an object that, when contaminated with or exposed to infectious agents, can transfer disease to a new host) so with afew extra measures we can all ensure we keep safe and sound. If you or your family have flu like symptoms, be wary of sneezing/coughing on your pooch and practice the usual good hygiene of washing hands after doing so before patting & handling. If anyone you and your pooch come into contact with anyone with flu like symptoms, keep a good social distance and ensure the usual clean hand hygiene is also followed before patting. (This goes for patting other dogs aswell) Cleaning procedures will take longer for each appointment so please bare with me if Im running abit later than usual And to look to on the bright side... if you are in isolation, look at all the time you get to spend with your pooch!!! Ive decided to take the plunge and shut up shop for awhile and will be self isolating at home.
