24.01.2022 Marvellous Marley Rescue Great Dane x Marley is a super sweet and friendly rescue, her owners have carefully planned her arrival. Where to sleep, where to eat, how to get adjusted and to decompress from the shelter. ... And how to lay the foundation for a new life together which happens in the first weeks. Even though it’s a positive change for a dog to have a new home, the change can be stressful. This is when we have to be very patient and give our new dog the time to take in new smells, sights, sounds and routine in and around our house. This can take several weeks, for some dogs up to a few months to fully adjust to the new life. Marley is learning not to jump on visitors or to nip their shoes. Walking nicely on leash just around the streets where she lives She has her little resting place / safety haven And just spending time together getting to know each other, being relaxed, comfortable and step by step planning and living the daily routine. So looking forward to see her progress over next months Px

21.01.2022 HARRY THE ROTTI UPDATE Harry missed out on crucial early socialisation. He is now 13 months young... He was overly boisterous and had a hard time to control his excitement, even though he is extremely friendly and absolutely loves all living beings. During our last session Harry was visibly calmer, relaxed and happy being around lil Lady. Consistency, Love and Patience fuels progress I think Lady is in love with Harry’s owner. Just look the way she looks at him Px

21.01.2022 Dachshund - Staffy x Sweet Little Rosie Luckily Rosie found her now owners,4th time lucky in her young life, just 2.5 years. For Rosie the world is a very scary place, she has no environmental confidence, dogs and humans make her extremely uncomfortable. ... That said, Rosie had a strong and positive connection to her now owners from the first moment they’ve met. To help fearful doggies we have to respect their space, giving them guidance and leadership, building confidence and lots of positive exposure without making it a overwhelming experience. Encouraging Rosie to make better choices, building a relationship of confidence and comfort, creating value and learning to relax. Wrapping them in Bubblewrap isn’t a good idea that would only validate their emotions. My entire respect to Rosies owner for believing and working with her Px

21.01.2022 Mellow Minnie Minnie is a third time lucky rescue. She’s happy, very mellow and gentle but can be a bit anxious around other dogs. Shelter environments can be a uncomfortable places to be and dogs need time to decompress, trust and feel safe again. ... Minnies owners decided to do it right from the beginning: Provide safety with a calm and quite place to relax Teaching her rules in the new home and rewarding the good behaviour Managing calmly fearful situations Started training to build confidence and giving her the guidance she needs. Taking her on long walks and keeping adequate distance Keeping the training fun and positive Px #Hamilton

16.01.2022 Smokey the Kelpie - Update - The goal of Smokey’s owners Mrs. L. was to walk with her dogs peacefully together. ... And helping Smokey to stop chasing car tyres during the walk. Mrs.L. moved mountains in only 30 days. With consistency and perseverance, teaching Smokey to focus on her instead of pulling and chasing cars. Mrs. L’s timing is absolutely impeccable when reminding Smokey to focus on her which helped tremendously! In our last session we went one step further and added higher level of distraction with a short duration and Smokey stayed calm. Both Angel and Smokey learnt to work for food (sniffing it out) and really loving it. I can’t wait to hear from all of you again

13.01.2022 ROCCO THE AMSTAFF Rocco was advertised for free and was lucky enough to find his now owners who are investing enormous amount of time in Rocco. Rocco is naturally friendly to all living beings. ... He didn’t have social skills or emotional control, his excitement with other dogs was off the charts, fence running until tired and walks only when nobody was around. His owners were thinking to get anxiety medication. Which we didn’t need after he responded so beautifully to the training. Before going or doing anything outside, for a few weeks we established a set of solid foundation (rules, boundaries) in house and yard. Also giving him time to decompress and reset. Start training inside the home first and extending from there, it’s a good thing to do! Crystal clear communication, relaxation foundation, mental stimulation, doggie manners, structured play and leash walk training. Rocco’s owner is a real natural in leading and guiding him outside with loose leash training, keeping the right distance and giving him time to reflex, relax and to play. It’s beautiful to see his true nature. So looking forward to follow Roccos journey.... Px

11.01.2022 Dougie and the Doggie Door Little nine month old Dougie had some pretty bad experience with the DOGGIE DOOR. His older brother, lovely 13 years old Benny was going through the door and little Dougie right behind him. ... The flap bounced back on is nose, a few times which naturally stopped him going through this moving thing again. We could see that lil Dougie was really frustrated, but could not get over his fear. It had to come from within, to turn his frustration into motivation. And after 3 weeks Dougie walked through the DOGGIE DOOR again, a bit hesitant at first but gaining confidence throughout the day. Tears of joy and hugs Well done brave lil Dougie boy . Px

07.01.2022 Small dog ~ Big dog The canis lupus familiars, commonly referred to as a Canine has instincts that need to be fulfilled in order to be happy and balanced. So many treat small dogs differently than larger dogs. ... We allow behaviour in a small dog we wouldn’t accept or allow in a larger dog. We often find undesirable behaviour cute such as jumping on us I think he likes me ohhh so sweet. Growling ... he wants to be a big dog and so on! Jumping, growling, snarling, barking, resource guarding and ultimately biting. Little 14 month old Smooch done all the above Before dogs get to this stage they give many signals to find guidance/leadership. If we overlook this signs the dog has no choice than to take matters in his own paws. A few month ago Smooch’s parents learned how to establish house rules and boundaries. Structure on walks, how to greet and play nice and calm with other dogs. To work for his treats, his mum taught him fetch and he loves it loads. She can see how happy he is with his new life. Smooch’s owners keep working to deepen what they’ve achieved for lasting change. Small dogs are NO different in their mental or physical needs than medium or large dogs. We treat them differently and this is what makes them different. If you’re having a hard time with your dog, there’s a big possibility that your dog has a hard time with you too. Px

06.01.2022 Even though we just spend a short time together, we’ve build an incredible amount of trust. Our relationship still has plenty room for growth and I’m still learning to see and understand the world from her perspective. That’s the beauty having rescue dogs, we never stop learning to understand, being patient and loving Even though she’s not perfectly trained, she’s beautiful to live with Px ... #rescuedogsofinstagram #amstafflove #trust #havingfun See more

06.01.2022 Max the Maltese - Shih Tzu X 8 years old Max got attacked and his life was on a string.. The traumatic experience shook his owner and Max, as a result Max’s mum avoided dogs and showered Max with love, cuddles, food and soft words of encouragement and held him always close by herself when outside. ... This in turn over time made Max highly anxious and insecure. Determined to help Max to do dog stuff again his mum wanted to overcome her own fear (owners confidence leads to dog confidence) of bigger and stronger dogs. We worked with Max on boosting his confidence, showed his mum different ways to express her love. And a different approach to Max’s sensitivity when other dogs in proximity. Weeks later with my Ginger Hippopittimos Roxy, ~ she’s a real mamma dog ~ and LOVES small doggies we went for beach walks, treat sniffaries , play and runs. Roxy showing mum and Max that Staffies can be decent dogs too. Also lil Max is learning bit by bit to settle down on cue, even if it’s not directly on the mat We are the sentinel to everything what our dogs love. Using it with understanding and care can lead to boundless joy. Px

05.01.2022 Just to keep in mind

01.01.2022 SWEET SUPER CHARGED STAFFY ALF Alf, the 2.5 year old rescue STAFFY is a very very loving, friendly sweet super energetic and funny entertainer. His mum who has a big soft spot for Bull breeds and many years of experience noted that Alf lacked environmental confidence and focus. ... Also he had excellent leash pulling skills. We set the foundation of mat training, relaxation, established rules in and around the home. Alfie’s mum learned loose leash walk training tips and Alfie really enjoys his new learned focus. His mum says that he’s now a whopping 80% pleasure to walk and a calmer dog overall. The more gentle we are when training leash walk , the smoother the dog will be. Alfie’s mum is calm, assertive and soft speaking which is helping Alfie to develop confidence. It’s a beautiful result of improved and clarified communication. Waiting with happy anticipation to see his confidence growing Px
