21.01.2022 We are all disappointed we had to cancel the Newport Pool to Peak swims but we really had no alternative despite all the planning and work by our hard working P2P team. You can roll over your entry to the 2022 swims when we will be back!

21.01.2022 As mentioned in our last post we are working on a Covid safe Pool to Peak on Sunday 3 January. It will mean online entries only so we will be looking forward to the support of all our regular swimmers to make it a success. After 2020 we are sure everyone is looking forward to hitting the water for the first ocean swims in 2021. Bring it on!

21.01.2022 Sorry to hear the news that the Avalon swims have been cancelled including the iconic Around the Bends Newport to Avalon swim. The organisers had no choice due to the virus situation. Lets look forward to next year.

21.01.2022 Have you been to a Harris Farm Market store recently? The fruit & vegetables are so fresh and the variety is enormous. And, if you go to to Barrenjoey Smash Repairs they have a courtesy car you can book. If you're looking for good hardware prices and service look no further than Johnson Bros Mitre Ten. LJ Hooker at Newport will sell your property for the right price and for air conditioning just go to Temperzone. Then after all that relax at the Royal Motor Yacht Club. What great Sponsors & Supporters we have!!

20.01.2022 We recently presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Royal Motor Yacht Club on Pittwater for their continuing support for the Pool to Peak ocean swims. RMYC have been great Supporters as well as loaning the swim buoys. The photo shows Jaz Rowntree & RMYC General Manager Jason McDonald plus the old codger (centre) is John Guthrie. Did you know RMYC is open again? Wonderful location, food and service.... Thank you RMYC.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to Jon Wall from Newport Surf Club. Jon recently completed the Rottnest Island Swim last Saturday a distance of 22km in 7 hours 25 mins. Jon finished 237 in a field of 434! I make that just under 26 mins a km. What a great effort by Jon who is a regular swimmer at Newport. Well done Jon.

17.01.2022 The water temperature is great. Now's the time to put in the laps in the pool to make sure you're fit for the Newport Pool to Peak. Never tried ocean swimming? The 400m swim course is a great way to start. If you swim 800m in the pool and practice going out through the break you will be fit enough for the 400m. Remember you are responsible for your own fitness. The 400m starts right on 8.45am. Entries online at oceanswims.com

17.01.2022 As of today there are only 56 days to the Pool to Peak on Sunday 3 January. We have strong Covid safe plans in place and our water safety will be top class as usual. In our newsletter we said we will be sending medals to winners and placegetters when in fact placegetters will receive certificates. Our apologies for the error. Our people will wear masks and there will be sanitiser available in multiple location.... We will have our BBQ and the coffee man will be there. So get ready for a big day. Remember there will only be online entries.

17.01.2022 Thank you to all the entrants to our cancelled swims for accepting the roll-over of entries to our swim to 2022. We appreciate your understanding. The Covid outbreak caused the cancellation but we will be back stronger than ever next year when your entry will be valid. We have always had a strong emphasis on safety and we were disappointed but content with our decision. Even though we have been in lock down on the northern end we can at least exercise by plunging into the ocean. We will keep you posted.

16.01.2022 Now the Qld. border barrier is coming down. Come on all you swimmers from the sunny State. We would welcome you with open arms at the Pool to Peak on Sunday 3 January. We have a Covid Safe Plan in place. Online entries only via oceanswims.com

15.01.2022 We think you will be safe from Coronavirus swimming in the ocean and the temperature is fine. Keep well and wash your hands well.

15.01.2022 Newport Pool to Peak Important Message The Newport Pool to Peak ocean swims were due to be held on Sunday 3 January 2021.... However, after consulting with Northern Beaches Council and Surf Life Saving Northern Beaches Branch, it has been decided that in the best interests of the health and safety of swimmers, volunteers and all concerned the event should not go ahead on 3 January. This is due to the outbreak of Covid 19 on the Northern Beaches and the uncertainty surrounding the authorities’ ability to get the outbreak under control. While it is disappointing, Newport Surf Club has always maintained high standards of safety for swimmers and volunteers. We are now considering two alternatives; postpone the event to another date in the next couple of months or hold the event on the first Sunday in January 2022. If you have already paid your fees through oceanswims.com we can hold them over until the swims are held so that your entry is still valid when we hold the swims. We are sure you will understand the reason for our actions given the Covid situation. We will keep you advised of the new date for the Pool to Peak through oceanswims.com and we thank you for being a loyal supporter of our wonderful event.

15.01.2022 For our swims on 3 January there will online entries. only. You won't be able to enter on the day. You will need your mobile for Covid log-on when you arrive. But don't worry we will have bag security within the event cordoned off-area. Our Covid marshals will make sure you are socially distanced. It's all about your safety. Can't wait to plunge in for an ocean swim again

14.01.2022 Need inspiration? John Kelso swam the Big Swim last Sunday in 1hr.07 mins. So, you ask? 10.01.2022 I have joined a Facebook group known as open water swimmers. Most of the posts seem to be from the UK where they are swimming in water around the 4 degrees mark. They report they feel great after their swims. I think I will take their word for it! I can assure you it will be much warmer on Sunday 3 January 2021 for the Newport Pool to Peak swims.
