25.01.2022 To any teams that are considering doing the Port Douglas Marlin Challenge this year, it would be greatly appreciated if you could please get your registrations done online via our website as soon as possible. https://www.portdouglasmarlinchallenge.com/register Payment will not be required until 31st October. With this year being a little different we do need an indication of how many boats we may have so we're able to plan the best event we can.... 24.01.2022 Results from Sunday, day 4 - Port Douglas Marlin Challenge. A great last day for the tournament with 4 fish tagged - Above Grade added another 3 fish to their tally including one for angler Ben Henderson that they put at 1000lbs and Little Tubs tagged one that captain Damien Langley put at 1200lbs for female angler Crystal Trkulja. The final tournament results:... Day 1 Champion Boat - Iluka (2 tags) Day 2 Champion Boat - Above Grade (3 tags) Day 3 Champion Boat - Little Tubs (1 tag) Day 4 Champion Boat - Above Grade (3 tags) Champion Female Angler - Lily Sims (Bounty Hunter) Champion Male Angler - Ben Henderson (Above Grade) Champion Boat - Above Grade captained by Gavin Goodwin Champion Angler Overall - Ben Henderson on Above Grade Runner-up Boat - Iluka captained by Reg Moore A huge heartfelt congratulations for Captain Gavin Goodwin, his crew Todd and Stretch and angler Ben Henderson - a well deserved win! The boys took home some awesome prizes - Penn 130 rod and reel, lure roll with a heap of Blue Dog lures and a little over $7000 in cash. It was also fantastic to have some female angler participation this year so BIG congratulations to Lili Sims, junior female angler on board Bounty Hunter who took out the Champion Female Angler award with 3 fish on count back from Crystal Trkulja on Little Tubs. We haven't had a female angler prize winner since Lisa Goodwin won Champion Angler back in 2013 ! Thank you to everyone - all the boats, anglers and crews that took part this year, as well as a big thank you to The Port Douglas District Combined Club for providing an awesome venue. We hope to see you all again next year !

23.01.2022 Results from Sunday, day 4 - Port Douglas Marlin Challenge. Wild Turkey finished the day adding one more tag along with Duyfken and Black Magic. The final tournament results:... Champion Boat - Wild Turkey Champion Angler - Bob Reynolds (Wild Turkey) Runner-up Boat - Black Magic Runner -up Angler - Guy Frankland (Black Magic) A big congratulations to Captain Dan, his boys Matty and Anthony, and angler Bob Reynolds, a well deserved win! The boys took home some awesome prizes - Penn 130 rod and reel, lure roll with a heap of Blue Dog lures and a little over $4500 in cash. Thank you to all the boats and sponsors that took part -another fun event.

21.01.2022 Results (provisional) from Saturday, day 3 - Port Douglas Marlin Challenge. Just 2 fish tagged today. One for Black Magic putting them in third place and one for Duyfken.



19.01.2022 Only a month to go, but PLEASE WE NEED YOUR ENTRIES IN NOW! Slightly different tournament format this year in that it's a start anywhere within the permitted fishing zone, so no briefing night. We as a committee need to be extra organised so pre-registration is essential. We already have an entry for our under 8m category so if you are considering doing the tournament this year in a trailer boat you will be very welcome. 16.01.2022 Day 2 Friday - Port Douglas Marlin Challenge Gavin Goodwin's Above Grade took the lead today with 3 fish tagged. Bounty Hunter tagged 2 fish and both Little Tubs and Iluka tagged 1 putting Iluka behind Above Grade on count back (provisional results)

13.01.2022 Results from Friday, day 2 - Port Douglas Marlin Challenge. A few more fish around today. Provisional results are Captain Dan on Wild Turkey maintains his lead adding another 2 fish to his tally. Gorilla, captained by Damon Gruzdev also tagged 2 fish today putting them in 2nd place followed by Black Magic and Reel Cross, both with 1 fish each. Plus a couple of fish lost by other boats during the day.



10.01.2022 NEW this year, for the first time, we have introduced an 8m and under category in the Port Douglas Marlin Challenge. If you think you're up for it why not come and give it a go and a chance to put your boat on the perpetual Brett Thomas Memorial Trophy. Fishing dates this year are 7-10 November 2019, with the briefing night at the Port Douglas District Combined Club on the 6th November. 08.01.2022 Results from Day 3, Saturday - Port Douglas Marlin Challenge 5 fish tagged today, one each for Little Tubs, Bounty Hunter, Port Douglas Marine, Black Magic and Katana. Tomorrow will be an interesting day with 3 boats leading the field each with 3 tags - Above Grade, on count back from Iluka and Bounty Hunter (provisional results).

06.01.2022 Results from Day 1, Thursday - Port Douglas Marlin Challenge. Reg Moore's new boat Iluka took the lead on day 1 with 2 tags (750 and 200lb) for anglers Jack Moore and Scott Winkworth. Amokura, captained by Brett Goetze, tagged one fish (200lb) for angler Dave Dormer putting them in second place (provisional results). Good luck to all teams for the remaining three days !

04.01.2022 Well what a crazy year. The Port Douglas Marlin Challenge committee has decided we are going to go ahead and hold our eleventh tournament this year. Port Douglas Marlin Challenge dates 2020 will be 12th,13th,14th and 15th of November. Our website is not updated yet, but full details will be formalised soon. We will keep you updated. The format will be a little different from normal. It will be a start anywhere within the allocated fishing zone with an email briefing on the 1...1th November 2020. Presentation night will be held in Port Douglas on Sunday 15th November. There will still be an under 8 metre division if we get the interest.
