23.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day to all our triathlete mum's out there!

23.01.2022 While the Port Tri Club doesn't specifically run a training chapter or organise any group training rides/runs, here's some welcome news from TriNSW for those who are bit tired of talking to themselves while out training lately: ....................................................................... Good afternoon all Triathlon clubs of NSW,... Some great news! Firstly we would like to thank all our members and the wider triathlon community for doing their part over the last month to help flatten the curve in NSW. As announced on Sunday by the Premier of NSW, restrictions to the two person gathering rule have been eased. Coming into effect Friday 15 May, based on expert health advice, the two person limit on outdoor gatherings will be adjusted, with the limit rising to 10 people. Please click here to view the NSW government statement on Covid-19 easing of restrictions coming into effect on Friday 15th May. If clubs/coaches wish to recommence group training sessions, this MUST be conducted in line with all Government Guidelines including 1.5m social distancing. We urge clubs to consider the following additions to their training to account for the safety of all members; * If members are unwell they should not attend training sessions * At no time should the training session allow for more than 10 people (coach included) * All members must be self-sufficient (water bottle, towel etc) * Allow for extra space within the training area to ensure social distancing can be adhered too * Group rides of up to 10 may occur but MUST adhere to the 1.5m social distancing rule. Although these changes from the government are small, they are welcomed by Triathlon NSW and the community. Please remember if you are out exercising please do not risk the safety of yourself or others. Stay COVIDSAFE, you do not want your Triathlon Club to become a COVID cluster. Kind regards, Chris Cunningham Operations Manager Triathlon New South Wales Ltd

14.01.2022 CLUB RACING IS BACK! This Sunday is our first opportunity to run a local Club event in a while with Race 1 of our annual winter Duathlon Series @7.30am at McInherney Park. Yes there will be some changes to how the event is run, however we're all happy to be back racing and hope that you'll join us and behave responsibly. There'll be a specific covid-19 sign-in for all competitors and spectators who attend. And naturally, people should not attend if they feel unwell or in th...e last 14 days have been to Victoria or the parts of Sydney that have been identified as covid hot-spots. On the day, hand sanitisers will be available, gloves will also be available for volunteers, there will be minimum bike-rack spacing, and sadly no post-event refreshments or get-together. However we can all still go back to SeaSalt afterwards (complying with their own covid-19 seating rules) so we can brag about how great we were to drag our winter-bodies around the old McInherney course. The race format will feature a 2.5km run, an 18km ride, and 2.5km run to finish, with a short course option of 1.5km run, 9km ride, and 1.5km run. We also offer our fun social grade option where you can essentially make up your own distances! We also offer an opportunity for the kids to race on our course, with a 500m run, 6km bike & 1.5km run. Their race will start 15 minutes before the seniors. Just note that kids must be 10yrs old to race. Race rego is from 6.45am-7.15am with the juniors getting underway straight after. Seniors will be starting at 7.30am. Current members keen to compete are required to re-new their annual membership at the new rate of $30 for the season ($15 for juniors!). However, any of your training mates & non-members can also race at a $10 entry fee which can be paid on the morning of the race. And don't forget that this weekend is the Winter Warriror Weekend that TriNSW have initiated to celebrate our Clubs getting back together again (read the link below). Any Clubs that submit a picture of members in club kit doing a WWW activity will go into the draw to win one of four $250 vouchers for 99 Bikes. In addition, any individual current TriNSW member who uploads a photo over the weekend with the tag #tnswwinterwarrior will go into the draw to win one of 5 Garmin watches. Photos can be submitted via email to TriNSW, or on Instagram/Facebook using the hashtag #tnswwinterwarrior, and will be uploaded into a WWW album on their Facebook page.

14.01.2022 TriNSW and the PMTC are excited to announce a special inititiave TNSW are calling their Winter Warrior Weekend (WWW), to be held on July 25-26th. The purpose of the WWW is to mobilise our members with a set club activity on Saturday the 25th July, which will bring new and renewing members together in the depths of winter to reconvene post-COVID, perhaps for the first time since lockdown. This club activity could be a group of PMTC Club members running the local Parkrun course..., doing your normal Saturday brick session, an ocean swim or a walk in the park followed by coffee. Whatever it is, TriNSW want as many members as possible to gather in club kit (maintaining social distancing & hygiene practices, of course). Clubs that submit at least one picture of their members in club kit doing a WWW activity will go into the draw to win one of four $250 vouchers for 99 Bikes, which can be used to purchase equipment for the club or prizes that can be used for club giveaways. Photos can be submitted via email to our office, or on Instagram/Facebook using the hashtag #tnswwinterwarrior, and will be uploaded into a WWW album on our Facebook page. On the morning of Sunday, July 26th, PMTC will in fact be holding our very own Duathlon event down at McInherney Park - details of that event will be sent out early next week. On that same Sunday, TriNSW will be hosting a home strength workout on Zoom for all TNSW members with a guest personal trainer if you can't make it to our PMTC Club Duathlon. This will be followed in the afternoon by the launch of our ‘TNSW Conversations’ series, a Zoom webinar series where our guest host, Garry Maddox of The Sydney Morning Herald and Balance & UTS Tri Club, will interview key triathlon figures, starting with Mark ‘Emo’ Emerton of EE Events. The links for both Zoom sessions will be circulated to members prior to the weekend. This will again bring together all TriNSW members on the same weekend for some fun activities and the start of the new season. In addition, any individual who is a current TriNSW member and who uploads a photo over the weekend with the tag #tnswwinterwarrior will go into the draw to win one of 5 Garmin watches.

13.01.2022 NSW Tri Club Results are in: 4TH We were the best performing regional club in Div 2. Which was an amazing effort as we had a very small team out there today. Well done to all our athletes and big thanks to our volunteers. It was a great day. Let’s get that podium next year!!

13.01.2022 More virtual racing options for you all!

11.01.2022 SAD NEWS: The race is cancelled tomorrow - sadly the padlock on the shed door has been tampered with and we can't access our race equipment. At this late hour the lock can't be fixed. GOOD NEWS: The Christmas food will be ready for you at the first race of 2021 - our Aquathon on January 15 - more information to follow. However you are spending your break, have a good one!

11.01.2022 Hi all It’s been a long while since we’ve been in touch. It seems that covid-19 has disrupted every corner of our lives, and that includes our training habits and social release we get with the sport of triathlon. For current TA members, you’d have received various updates from the national &/or state body over the past few weeks. One of which has been an indication that formal race sanctioning is likely to be re-issued for races & events from the 1st July. For us, that mea...ns our previously approved Duathlons for the end of July & August can potentially proceed, and we are planning on that occurring. Our duathlons will then just comprise a 2-race series this year. But given the circumstances all national sport was facing only a few weeks ago, we’ll be glad to be back at our McInherney course. As per previous seasons, we’ll encourage any non-members to race our duathlons with a $10 entry fee per race. But more excitingly, we’re hoping we can even encourage them to sign up as full members altogether. In that regard, the committee have made the decision to drastically reduce our annual membership fees for next season. This has been done in recognition of the particularly disappointing season we had in 2019/20, the sponsorship dollars we received and which were only partially used, and the desire to encourage people back into organised sport. To that end, PMTC club fees for season 2020/21 are: $30 for seniors (>18yrs) $15 for juniors (<18yrs) For those who’ve already renewed and paid at last season’s fees, just email us here and we’ll arrange a reimbursement. So, here are some dates to keep on your radar: * 1st July the date of membership renewal for those who’ve set up an auto-renewal. * 26th July Duathlon Race 1 of 2 * 30th August Duathlon Race 2 of 2 * 9th September our expected date for the Club AGM and election of new committee executive and race committee roles. There will be a large proportion of our executive stepping down for next season, so we encourage anyone with a keen interest in keeping the club running to come along and volunteer at the AGM * 19th September Club Champs in Forster * _?_ October the hopeful recommencement of club racing for our PMTC summer season. We’ll aim to get more information out to everyone in early July to update you on the current state of play. http://www.triathlon.org.au/Membership/Annual_Membership.htm

06.01.2022 So as it seems that everyone is slowly coming out of this covid-19 hibernation, here's a reminder that NXsports have launched their 2020/21 season of events up north of us. With the Kingscliff Tri, Yamba Tri, Tweed Enduro and Byron Bay Tri back in action, check out their calendar and save the dates for the upcoming events! Nice work Mahni on modeling as their poster-girl for the new season launch

06.01.2022 Still space for a few more in the face-to-face meeting, and still time to register for a zoom meeting invite. We'll be emailing all those who are keen to zoom with the meeting details tomorrow

03.01.2022 Next Friday (15th Jan) we are scheduled to run our first Aquathon (run, swim, run) of the season. Which ordinarily would be a two thumbs up occasion However Mother Nature might have other ideas. At this stage we can't confirm whether the race will be on as planned due to the uncertainty of the water quality. But we will keep you posted. So sit tight, cross your fingers and let's all hope we get to race next week

03.01.2022 Tonight’s aquathon is cancelled.... Mother Nature has yet again decided there will be no racing

02.01.2022 Don't forget to register your interest for attendance at next Monday's AGM of the Port Macquarie Triathlon Club. While we are restricted with face-to-face numbers due to Covid-19 restrictions, at this stage we still have room for about a dozen more members to attend in person at the venue. We also need to know who would like to be sent a zoom meeting invite. So even if you can't be there in person but would like to attend online, send in your RSVP to [email protected] to register your interest. https://www.portmactriclub.com.au/news
