25.01.2022 Something for the girls in Pirie to try

19.01.2022 What a great way to end the junior footy season. With the weather on our side it was great to see so many people at the oval supporting junior footy. It started off with the under 9’s and 11’s playing their last minor round game. Once those games were finished the under 13’s grand final started and what a entertaining exciting game it was, with plenty of lead changes during the game. It came down to the last couple of minutes when Ports broke the deadlock with two quick goals... to run out the winners, for the third year in a row, by 10 points. Congratulations to Paul Farmer Keane on coaching the Port side to victory and all his helpers Thanks to everyone for turning up to watch , Alex meats and Coke for their very generous donations and helping make it a very successful day. Also to the clubs for volunteering their time in the canteen and coaching the children which is very time consuming. A big thank you to all the people who umpired games during the year. See more

11.01.2022 Good morning all You may be aware that the three Port Augusta Clubs collaborated to organise a Come and Try Day last Sunday to attract junior girls to the game. The day was a resounding success with over 60 girls attending across U11, U13 and U16. Participants also travelled from Port Pirie and Whyalla.... Below is the current Season Program being facilitated by Sam Boully, Central Augusta FC. She is effectively taking the lead role for coordinating the competition, supported by South Augusta and West Augusta Football Clubs. Whilst the girls will be representing ‘clubs’ this is a round robin competition and Sam is encouraging Clubs and players from Whyalla and Port Pirie to get involved. Although the season launches this weekend, Sam can accommodate additional players and would welcome any group of players willing to travel across. This can be done over the coming weeks and doesn’t have to be actioned in time for this weekend. This is an extremely positive initiative for the Region. Clubs and Leagues are encouraged to promote the Program to families and girls that may be chasing a game. Clubs could also be considering whether there is enough interest locally to support a side in the competition. This is an extraordinary opportunity to grow your Club and potentially welcome a new membership base and families to your Clubs. As a minimum Clubs should be letting their families know the Program has launched and Sam can willingly accommodate players from Pirie and Whyalla looking to play. 10.01.2022 Just a quick update on the boys at SAPSASA. They have won all seven games so far. It’s been a testing two days for them both weather wise and physically. Monday was a hot 30deg with a strong Northerly and made the three games very tricky. Today there was a sprinkling of rain but a lot cooler conditions but with playing 4 games it was evident that the boys were showing a bit of fatigue but soldiered on. What a talented bunch of players playing their heart out and making Port Pirie proud!!
