19.01.2022 Don't forget our animal friends through these hot days. http://kb.rspca.org.au/what-can-i-do-in-hot-weather-to-prev

14.01.2022 Well now we are coming into some cooler weather. Its a great time to get out and explore the Tomaree National Park at Port Stephens. Over Easter we will have a number of walks, duration will be approx 2 and 4-5 hour walks. The walks are not difficult and anybody who casual walks a couple of times a week will enjoy the walks. Dates and details will be posted over the next couple of days. One of the views looking north as we head south from Fingal Bay Thanks Geoff

10.01.2022 Just arrived back from trekking the 3 Capes Track in Tasmania. What an amazing experience .The walk has only been opened for 12 months with 3 nights spent in these amazing huts. The experience starts at Port Arthur, after wondering around for a few hours it was onto the ferry for a lap around Port Arthur and then to be dropped off on the eastern shore to start the walk. The first day is a casual 4kms walking along the eastern side of the port, with the night spent in "Surveyo...rs" hut. The second day is 11 kms heading south to Cape Pillar and Tasman Island. The views south where spectacular. We arrive at "Munro" hut in approx 5 hours. The 3rd day was the biggest (but not the hardest) 17 kms to Cape Pillar and the Blade. This was an amazing day, the scenery looking to Tasman Island and along the the cliffs was great. There are no railings so walking along the tops of cliffs was quiet exhilarating. When you arrive at Cape Pillar, "The Blade" is the spot to finish on and from the other side you can see the seals down at the base of Tasman Island. We head back along the same track the 7kms to " Munro" grab your full pack and head 3 kms to the third night at " Retakunna" hut at the base of Mount Fortescue. Our last night, by now you have got to know the others in your group and we had a great last night. Friday morning up early with 14 kms in front, 6-7 hours on the track and getting to Fortescue Bay in time to catch the bus. This was a big day with plenty of steps, with in a few hundred meters of leaving the hut we start the climb up Mt Fortescue. 3 hours later we are the junction to "Cape Hauy" and Fortescue Bay. The 2 hour return to "Cape Hauy" was hard, up and down stairs cut out of rock the whole time. Arriving at the Cape, there is a rock platform 300m above sea level that is the only fenced area on the trek, the view is spectacular. One of the rock pillars is known as the Candle stick, it is a world renown climb. We were lucky to see 3 climbers commence their ascend. Heading the hour back, we went up every step we went down getting there and there was plenty of them. After a brief stop at the junction, we started the last hour of this amazing 46km trek, finishing at Fortescue Bay. The water was as clear and blue as you would see any where in the world, so as cold as it was time to wash the last 4 days away.It was an amazing trek and to do it with my wife, will be one of those special times to always be remembered. #3capestrack #portarthurtassie #threecapestrack #bushwalking #portstephens See more

05.01.2022 This morning we conducted a guided walk from Barry Park (Fingal Bay) to Big Rocky and return. It was an early start to beat the heat, but the north easterly was blowing which kept it cooler. Once at Big Rocky we enjoyed the time having a look around and enjoying snacks, drinks and fruit. Looking towards One Mile Beach, the water was calm and clear. Thanks to Kate,Rexson and Kate.Hoping you guys had a great morning and enjoyed the walk. Geoff
