20.01.2022 Hi All Junior families, Well its great to see some fine weather return after a bit of a dirty week that effected half of the Country week and Representative cricket week, just gone. When the games did get under way all of our Rep players acquitted themselves very well, and although I don't have all of their individual performances at hand to write down, I do know of Joel Debono's 2 x 50's, and Matteo Surace weeks work who impressed with the keeping gloves taking 2 catches, a...ssisting 2 run outs, a run out himself and accumulating 23 runs in his 2 games. I believe Jack Baldi made some runs in the U/17's, and I am sure Jesse Hunter would have contributed in his games. Well done to our Reps. In the Country week games all of our players made contributions with either bat or ball and gained new friendships with players from other clubs they normally play against, I coached a team of players from Port, Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove, and could not have been more happy with the players unity and friendly attitudes that made the couple of days a real pleasure to be involved with. Well done to all those at the GJCA who make the week happen for 420 participants, plus the 100 Representative players who played during the week as well. Back to Club Land, Demons Club will start back on Friday the 22nd of January from 4.30. Back oval. Training for U/11's will start back on Monday the 18th of January from 4.30. Games are set to recommence on the 29th, but if I can get some feedback on whether families would like to have an intra club game on Friday the 22nd please return email with the feedback. Training for U/13's starts back on Monday 11th of January 4.30 and games start back this coming Saturday 16th of January. Please notify me of your players availability, I am aware that 1 player is away for training, and another may have broken a bone over the break. So please confirm so that I can make sure teams have enough players for Saturday. Training for U/15's and U/17's will start back on Wednesday 13th from 4,30 with games also starting back this Saturday 16th January, please notify Team managers or myself with regards to unavailability as soon as possible, so arrangements can be made to ensure teams have enough players. 06.01.2022 Some supporters at the club may not be aware that we have some boys representing the club by playing Under 17s cricket for a combined team named the Bellarine Renegades. They are in the top division and the standard of cricket being played is excellent. James Tilders, Jack Baldi, Jacob Roberts, Ashby Ward, Solomon Harvey and Jackson McGrath have all proven themselves more than capable. 03.01.2022 As mentioned in a previous post we have some cricketers playing in a composition under 17’s team called the Bellarine Renegades. It has players from Leopold, Portarlington, Ocean Grove and St Peter’s. They are a great group of young men with fantastic parents. The boys are led by an awesome coach in Uli Van Rensburg. Fiona Blyth is the team manager and herself and Uli have created an inclusive and friendly team from scratch. The only problem is that the boys are playing short... handed every week. They have the skill, the determination, the camaraderie, the coaching etc but not a full team. These boys deserve to play on an even playing field. The last thing we want is young players giving the game away due to burnout. This is a shout out to anyone who wants a game of cricket that we have a spot open for you. You’ll get a bowl if you’re a bowler, a bat if you’re a batter and we are desperate for a wicket keeper.
