When asked what first comes to mind when thinking about PortCare and the extended community, Claire said "it's so supportive, kind, caring and compassionate". 22.01.2022 The Story of Avelino (or "Lino") As part of National Volunteering Week #nvw2021, we like to share a story of one of our volunteers, eighty-two year old Hilton resident Lino from Spain. Lino started volunteering with PortCare after he lost his beloved wife of many years. In Lino's words, "I like coming to PortCare and volunteer as it gets me out of the house and meet other people. Over time, this place has become my community and it's like a family to me now." ... If you have met Lino at PortCare, you can't help but be infected by his enthusiasm for life and his cheeky grin! Feel free to leave a comment below if you have met Lino and we will share it with him! Thank you Lino for being such an inspiration to all of us at PortCare and serving the community through your volunteering!

At PortCare, the commitment of our volunteers meant that we were able to stay open at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic during April last year and offer essential food services to the community. To our tireless volunteers, we say thank you from the bottom of our heart! #NVW2021 Volunteering WA @volunteeringaustralia
