23.01.2022 12v 2.9Ah at super crap $65 Same battery at battery world $50 Caveat emptor.

22.01.2022 Had a call out yesterday. Early Sunday a customer called to ask if I could fix a problem with a power circuit that was tripping a RCD breaker. The kitchen power and appliances was on this circuit , so this is where I began. Disconnected all the appliances and removed the breaker cover. Started measuring a dead short and thought this won't be hard to find. There must be something still plugged in. Searched High and low until it was discovered that a power board in one of the bedrooms was still plugged in. Removed the power board and no short. It was revealed that the small boy about 3 years old had, early that morning, got up and pissed on the power board near his bed. This must be the luckiest little boy in Port Macquarie. The RCD did its job.

17.01.2022 Had an email from a Sydney based contractor last week wanting a quote to do some fairly urgent work for a customer in Port. I've had dealings with this contractor a few years back and was wary. Any way I proceeded with the quote and decided to call yesterday and check on the progress. Apparently I was one of a few local firms that had been asked for quotes and the decision to select a lucky contractor had not been made by management. Rather than wait for them to call back I a...pproached the customer direct and was given the job within 2 hrs. Apparently the customer was very unhappy with the Sydney based contractor because of performance issues and the fact they were giving out the work to sub contractors. This happens quite a lot especially with large organisations that have national contracts with city based contractors. The work gets farmed out to locals that have to compete against each other. The city contractor gets paid and creams a sizable margin and the poor sub contractor ends up being the money lender waiting for invoices to be paid on the city based contractors terms. I'm sure the customers were expecting the city contractors to do the work directly, and not employ subcontractors when service agreements were signed. See more

13.01.2022 Where does this shit come from. Everytime I come across this brand of RCD its because its faulty. Had a call out today from a customer that just came back from holidays to find out there was no power in the house. The fridge had a meltdown and all the food had to be thrown out. Tested the breaker with the test switch and by leakage fault tester and it did not react to either. Turned the main power off and the rcd tripped without power. Replaced with a reputable brand and all... OK. Also whoever wired this unit used individual mcb's for the final subcircuits and had the whole lot connected through a 63A RCD. So any light and or power circuit would trip on earth leakage fault. I'm guessing that RCD's are $30 ea. as against $5 ea for mcb's would be the reason. However there are a couple of flaws in this design. If there is slight leakage in each circuit this could add up quite easily and exceed the 30mA trip point causing undesired tripping. Because the subcircuits are joined together there is no way to easily identify which circuit has the fault. If one circuit causes tripping all light and power circuits are switched off. See more
