A fantastic team effort has resulted in a book that showcases iconic Port Hedland locations with an added dilemma that Santa has to solve to get presents to the children of Port Hedland. 09.01.2022 Rule of 3 -3 historic places to visit 1. Bangers House, in Edgar Street. Now named The Bungalow and hosting a new range of shops for Port Hedland. Charles Banger ( rhymes with Ranger) was a pearling master in Port Hedland in the 1900s and would sort and pack pearl shell and pearls before they were sent to London. 2. Esplanade Hotel, Built in 1904 and originally known as Hedditches Hotel. Was a two story hotel until the 1950s when they added the third floor for pilo...ts and hostesses of the new air passenger service. Was originally built without an internal staircase and had a beautiful wrought iron spiral staircase to access the second floor. 3. Emporium Lot 1 when Port Hedland was gazetted in 1896 and the land when auctioned sold for 15. Was originally called Stockers Store and now the Emporium that houses, the Post Office, Lotto agency, office goods and furniture and much much more.
