25.01.2022 Happy New Year to our local community and afar. 2021 is here and we hope it will be a year of less interruption to our karate calendar. We still need to adhere to a 4 sq metre rule inside the Dojo (training hall) and we are adaptable to make this work for us in our purpose fitted karate building. We are excited to welcome back our current members and we are accepting NEW students to our mainstream classes from the beginning of our training year commencing on Tuesday 2 Februa...ry and our Kickstart for Kids (4-8 years) class will start back on Tuesday 9 February. New students are welcome to join anytime throughout the year so if you can't make it to our first night back of training don't worry, our door is always open. Karate has many benefits: getting fit in mind, body and soul; learn the skills of self defence; build self esteem; make new friends, are just a few benefits. We are a supportive and all inclusive club. Please inbox us if you are keen to give karate a go so we can plan our classes accordingly. 28 Percy Street Portland (next door to IGA) KICKSTART (4-8 years) Tuesday 5pm-5.45pm Mainstream Class - Tuesday & Thursday 6pm-7.30pm KICKSTART $40 per school term (First week free) Mainstream Class (per month) (First 2 weeks free) $30 per child (Primary & Secondary school students) $35 per adult $50 per family (any size, immediate family only) $20 Annual Membership fee (per student) Portland Kyokushin Karate Club is a NOT FOR PROFIT club. 14.01.2022 We are still unable to return to training inside the Dojo. Perhaps with warmer weather lurking it may give us a chance to train outside with a maximum of 10 people plus 1 instructor. Stay tuned Osu Shihan Ron & Sempai Debbie

13.01.2022 ** CLASS CANCELED ** Osu Kickstart families, due to unavailability of instructors, tomorrow nights classes will unfortunately not be running! We look forward to seeing all your smiling faces back next week

13.01.2022 A Long Road to Triumph! Today We travelled the 7hours to Traralgon so Portland’s Kobi Buckland could compete in the Traralgon One Match Tournament. Kobi was matched with a really good fighter from the Traralgon Dojo. Over 2 rounds, Kobi demonstrated a lot of will and skill, resulting in him winning the match against an up and coming karateka. Congratulations Kobi.... Osu Shihan Ron See more

13.01.2022 As per Premier Dan Andrews speech today Regional Victoria will be heading back into stage 3 lock down from Wednesday evening for 6 weeks, resulting in the closure of community sport such as ours. 10.01.2022 Hope everyone is enjoying the lessening of the COVID-19 restrictions. The latest update from the Victorian Government, as we interpret it, states that we MAY be able to return to training as of 21 June with social distancing as well as hygiene requirements. Up to 10 people only in a class under the above restrictions. ... We will look into some scenarios of how we could make this work and keep you all updated. Osu Shihan Ron & Sempai Debbie

08.01.2022 Hi kickstart families! Just a reminder that indoor sport is still under COVID lockdown restrictions and therefore we can’t return to the dojo tomorrow Our fingers are crossed for the following week, but in the meantime let your little ones practice some Japanese counting, Star jumps, push ups or jumping up from the floor hands free to keep up their motivation Hope everyone is keeping safe and well Osu, Sempai Rachel.

05.01.2022 Great news for our current Junior members (under 18 years) as we can return to non contract training in the Dojo in November. Classes will recommence on Tuesday 3 November 6-7 pm and again on the Thursday. Seniors stay tuned as we never know you may get back sooner if people keep doing the right thing.... We are hopeful that as of February 2021 we will be able to conduct our Kick Start classes for Kids (4-8 year olds) and also welcome new students to our mainstream classes. Osu Shihan Ron & Sempai Debbie

02.01.2022 Tonight (10 December 2020) sees the end of our 2020 training year and what a year it has been. It started well with the Portland Day seminar in February followed by the Traralgon One Match and then we went into Zoom classes, a new experience for all. June arrived and we were back in the Dojo with COVID restrictions, albeit only for 6 weeks!... Zoom rallied again until November and then we returned to the Dojo with larger gaps between students. The last couple of weeks has seen the return to contact training, so we can see the light at the end of the tunnel to returning to normal training in 2021. We will be welcoming our current cohort and NEW students back into the Dojo on 2 February 2021 so mark it in your diary. Our Kick Start for Kids (4-8 year olds) program for current and NEW kids will recommence 9 February 2021. Stay committed to doing the right thing during the festive season so we can continue on the COVID normal trajectory. Have a very Merry Christmas and great (safe) celebrations in the New Year. Osu Shihan Ron Jorgensen, Sempai Debbie Jorgensen & Sempai Rachel Ralph
