23.01.2022 It was great to see so many enthusiastic students from the University of Queensland's Sustainable Development course visiting the Port of Cairns on Friday afternoon to learn about some of our fantastic environmental management initiatives and operations at our ports. They gathered at our award-winning heritage listed Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal where PN environment manager Adam Fletcher presented plenty of information on the important role Ports play in balancing the social, economic and environmental drivers on behalf of key industries and stakeholders and the community in the Cairns region. Thanks to Dr Paul Dennis for thinking of our port for his students.

23.01.2022 On this day in 1974 Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam announced the creation of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. "We will take this action to protect ...an irreplaceable part of Australia's natural heritage," Nearly half a century later, the park continues to protect the world’s largest coral reef from damage with the hope of improving the long-term outlook of the ecosystem. www.7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS

17.01.2022 Look at the beautiful sight that greeted me at Marlin Marina this morning. Our beautiful fleet of SV14s at home in their berths, which have kindly been provided... by Ports North. They're right in front of Salthouse, another supporter of our program, and right there ready to use from our Cairns Yacht Club base, when we recomence our Sailability afternoons in the very near future. The award was presented during the Engineers Australia Qld Gala Dinner at Rileys on Saturday night, at which Frank delivered the keynote address on our winning Cairns Shipping Development Project.

15.01.2022 Sea trials yesterday with two of our SV14s in gusty conditions. These boats are fantastic! I sailed the Ports North boat, which has the fixed (non canting) seats, and felt comfortable and secure at all angles of heel. Might be spinnaker time on Thursday

15.01.2022 Another clip and a few more pics of today's fantastic session with the Endeavour Foundation crew. A great turnout of volunteers today made it all possible. Thanks everyone.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Ports North Board director Vanessa Maruna who has been appointed Deputy Chairperson of the Board. Ms Maruna is also Chairperson of the Board's Human Resources Committee.

More than $3.5 million will be injected into the project which will begin in early 2021. The upgraded facilities will accommodate a new, larger vessel, the Newcastle Bay II, being built by Seaswift, the key operator of cargo services from Cairns, and will include: Adding a new berthing dolphin at the H...orn Island Cargo wharf Increasing the width of the existing barge ramp ; Upgrading a large portion of the gravel causeway to concrete; Removing existing vessel manoeuvring piles.
