25.01.2022 In a job interview, weve all had this question- what are your weaknesses? Do you know how to answer it? This question is looking for two things. 1. How well do you know yourself i.e. self reflection... 2. What are you doing to change & improve that weakness? i.e.Self improvement Personally I like to look at this question as -what area are you working on right now? We all have weaknesses because were human. Its whether were looking to grow, change & make ourselves a better employee that an interviewer will want to know. What are your weaknesses?

24.01.2022 Freedom As I'm helping my boys get ready for school this morning I can't help but think about freedom and what that means. Freedom to choose, freedom to live the life that we want, freedom to be who we are but also financial freedom to be able to enjoy the experiences that we love doing. Without a steady income which is why we typically work, we don't have the freedom to experience our best lives. Pressure starts to cloud us and decisions are made in haste. I've been really unclear about what I want to do for a long time. But as I spend more time reflecting, pondering and observing I'm noticing that the common thread of what I enjoy involves writing and living a life that gives me freedom. What will freedom give you?

24.01.2022 I met a lady last night who really inspired me. Shes decided that she wants to share her story to the world to help others. Its one of those dark, vulnerable, deep stories that takes courage to share. So her starting point is seeking out others who already do this to learn from them. Mentoring is so powerful. Whos your mentor in life?

23.01.2022 When we have clarity and intent, well attract exactly what we are looking for. Do you know what you need? If not, start planning now so you can get exactly what youre after

23.01.2022 My LinkedIn Profile & resume are the same thing arent they? Well actually if you want to get the best results that you can then there are some differences to how you present a LinkedIn Profile compared to a resume. What are they you ask? A LinkedIn Profile is a summary of your work history & is generic. Using keywords throughout canhelp your profile match to employer job opportunities. A resume is specific & customised to a job application. ... If youd like some help creating a rock n roll Profile or customised resume, please feel free to message me. Id love to chat

21.01.2022 SOLITUDE is not a luxury- its a right and a necessity. Do you recharge being around people? Or like me do you prefer solitude? I always thought I was an extrovert. Id start conversations with strangers, make the first effort networking, approach new colleagues in the workplace to help them settle in. Then my manager at the time told me one day that Im a forced extrovert. I was taken aback a bit because Id never really seen myself like that. But now... I totally know he was right and get where he was coming from. I do push myself out of my comfort position of preferring to be alone. I do force myself to be social. And I do approach people at networking events with butterflies in my belly feeling a bit awkward when its a group. It can feel intimidating When Im with good friends its easy. And I have some incredible people I know who bring the life out of me & my full energy can shine. So it doesnt feel forced and I feel outgoing But Ive realised over the years that it doesnt matter if youre introverted, extroverted or like me a forced extrovert. We all need alone time to realign, set our intentions, think, ponder, question & challenge. Its easier when the only noise is that inside your head Plus I really love my own company. Im the most freakin amazing person I know See more

18.01.2022 Clarity. Are you clear on your direction in life, work & personal? Or if youre like me at the moment I have every intent to set goals for each part of my life yet life keeps happening Got the juggle act going on and if I was in a circus I reckon Id be fired from the juggling team from dropping too many batons. So how can I recover to a smoother balance? Well for me its all about priorities. Working out which bits are more important than others. Then setting clear annual, monthly and daily intentions to stay on track

18.01.2022 One of the biggest challenges most people face in the whole finding a job palava is self confidence. You have to sell yourself on paper, promote yourself in person and stay on track under pressure. Nerves can over take your ability to function. Its a pretty scary process. But it doesnt have to be. Preparation is key and using language in your application that highlights your strengths in a positive, powerful way. Kaboom! Shake the room

16.01.2022 Working out when good enough is enough is potentially one of the most important traits to have in biz. Striving for excellence is different to perfectionism. Things will never be perfect but they can be amazing and you can put your best effort in so that its good enough

16.01.2022 Expectations Do you have high expectations that are potentially unrealistic? Does that open you up to disappointment when things dont meet them? Ive seen family and friends go through a lot of pain, myself included from having had unrealistic expectations. I now try to come to a relationship with an open mind and open heart just to be present and see what happens. When it comes to relationships its important to avoid judgement an...d avoid thinking that people should be like you So rethinking expectations can help. Having goals and standards is different to expectations and is something I personally still have and do & Id encourage you to have as well Translated to biz, its great to set expectations up front so that you and your client are on the same page. In an interview, equally you can set expectations on your availability so that you can discuss up front flexibility

16.01.2022 Trying something new When was the last time you tried something completely new? For me it was today. Ive always wanted to try hot yoga so jumped at the chance when my girlfriend asked me along. Loved every bit about it and am now a new hot yogi We often get so stuck in routines and same ol same ol we might feel a bit less like going outside our comfort zone and more inclined to do what weve always done. ... Totally translates to the business world too. Have you ever been told that we do it this way because thats the way its always been done? Cool stuff can happen when we try the new

14.01.2022 Happiness comes in many forms. It might be a moment of laughter with your son whose cheeky grin makes all of the prior struggle worth it. ... It could be when the indoor painting job that ended up taking 12 months is finally complete and your rooms feel so fresh and clean. It might be that feeling of buying new clothes and wearing them for the first time. Or it could run deeper. The light bulb moment when you find your passion and start living it through work & hustle. For me right now, Im just happy that the kids are sleeping in & I can drink my coffee while its still hot. Need help finding your passion? DM me as Id love to chat

14.01.2022 I used to teach a career builder course to IT grads & one of the things I talked about was building a strong relationship with a recruiter. We usually only talk to recruiters when we are on the hunt for a job. And it can be pretty transactional. But if you want to really pave a path for your career, find a recruiter you respect who works in your industry, build a relationship and keep in touch with them so that they can market you to companies and keep you informed of great gigs before theyre even advertised. Get them to want to find you a great job because theyve gotten to know you and like you. At the end of the day theyre a person & if you treat them well it will work in your favour

14.01.2022 I wrote this blog post back in June last year. Passion is something that has been bubbling away for months even years. I reckon it's time I started listening to myself. https://rosiehegartyblog.wordpress.com//when-passion-turn/

13.01.2022 When youre applying for a job, print the job ad, grab a highlighter and mark out the key skills that the hiring manager is looking for. Make sure you have those skills mentioned in your resume and selection criteria. That way you are a perfect match

12.01.2022 That moment when you realise youve already finished your first coffee of the day and really need another one

12.01.2022 We dont need to be right, we need to be kind Gorgeous words that were said to me on Sunday at yoga And I just cant get them out of my mind

11.01.2022 Have to say that I was once asked in an interview years ago if I liked to drink. I remember thinking before I answered, is this a trick question? So I answered cheekily and indirectly saying that my hubby is Irish and I lived there for 3 years so you join the dots. I got the job and as it turned out the company had a big drinking culture so they wanted to make sure Id fit in but legally... hmmm not sure if you can ask that question For serious dos and donts with interview questions this article has it covered.

10.01.2022 Ive been working on an application for a lady whos applying for a senior position. She acted in the role for about 6 months but hadnt included it in her resume. I found a few words about it tucked away under training. It got me thinking about how important it is to customise your application and to focus on how your experience relates to the job you are applying to. So now her experience has that acting role right at the top of her work history ... In a broader sense this transfers to business proposals and tenders too. Customisation is key. I always work from a base template then change bits so Im addressing their needs. Remember, its all about them

10.01.2022 Its my last day at Headonista Hats and Fascinators Its been one hell of a ride learning how to take product photos, SEO, finance, fashion parades, social media, influencers, collabs, photoshoots, wholesalers, consignment, sales, marketing ...the list goes on. Its a really strange feeling that I wont be posting Insta photos tomorrow. But more than that I wont be having daily contact with my former biz partner Victoria Gardiner We became a lifeline to each other and s...he has been an incredible friend who accepts me and knows me so well. Gratitude & Love As one chapter fondly closes, another begins. Im looking forward to discovering what that will look like & cant wait for 2019 to begin

07.01.2022 Come on, be honest now, which one are you?

07.01.2022 Change Do you cope well with change or does it freak you out? On a Monday morning, I go to a spin class at my local gym. Every week theres a core group of local women who sit on the same bikes week in, week out. I personally like to mix it up and Im pretty sure I annoy the crap out of them as Im on their bikes preferring to sit in different spots each week. ... One lady in particular told me on Monday that she doesnt like change & was overwhelmed when her regular bike was broken and she had to sit somewhere else. She felt all weirded out. When we get really comfortable and safe are we setting ourselves up to crumble under change? Are we restricting ourselves from experiencing new adventures and opportunities? Or are we feeling nice and secure under our blanket of routine?

04.01.2022 It was only just over 2 weeks ago that the sun was shining at Peel Estate Wines for my birthday & now look at this wet & wild winters day. But the beauty about rain is that you get to spend time indoors without the guilt reflecting, planning & organising work. Or vegging, reading & binge watching when its the weekend. This week Ive had a couple of really poignant conversations with clients about their businesses. Theyve grown to a certain point organically with a small b...it of marketing but they want & need more to grow. Were unraveling what has worked in the past & what can be included into the future. Do you know someone who is stuck in their business growth? Or maybe thats you? Do you just need a sounding board to float ideas & brain storm new creative ways to grow & make money? Love to chat. 03.01.2022 Abundance I re-read Angelas Ashes by Frank McCourt a few weeks ago. If you dont know the story, its about the impoverished, poor Limerick life of Frank & his family in Ireland. Franks father was an alcoholic & he drank any wages he managed to make leaving his family literally starving & living in poverty. Its a harsh reality check. ... Franks family were lucky to get a piece of bread & a cup of tea. Not daily... sometimes. It got me thinking about the incredible abundance that I have access to in my life. Food, Health, Warmth, Clothing, Employment, Clean water, Love, Family & Friends, the Universe. So today, Im grateful for the abundance that I have in my life & grateful that my family and friends also have abundance in their lives. What are you grateful for?
