25.01.2022 Day one of our Annual Tournament was played in superb conditions with a full green of triples teams. Our green has come up well with compliments for many players. A big thank you to all of the clubs represented. Our runners-up were a mixed team of Errol and Matt from Pt Welshpool with Gordy from Garfield. The winners were Brian, Gary from Pakenham with Alan from Garfield. Sponsors today were the Hilder brothers of #FosterTyresandServiceCentre and #HilderHomesaConstruction. Tomorrow is 4s with a BBQ dinner after the proceedings.
25.01.2022 SGBD Ladies State Events 2020/21 and Midweek Pennant dates. Note: There is no Midweek Pennant draw yet as some clubs are yet provided their teams.
22.01.2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS to our members, fabulous sponsors and supportive friends of our great little club.
22.01.2022 A magnificent sunny day and a good turn out for our first Members Social Sunday bowls this season. It's a great opportunity for our new bowlers to practice their skills and learn the rules and eticate from experienced bowlers in a relaxed setting.
19.01.2022 Another superb day for our Sunday social bowls today. Our new bowlers are developing their skills and learning the basic rules whilst playing in a social team atmosphere. We encourage and welcome all first time bowlers as we all have to start somewhere.
19.01.2022 Men's 2020/21 Events
18.01.2022 Today was the 4s day of our Annual Tournament with perfect weather and fantastic people. Todays sponsor was #ValleySeptics. Runners-up were Stephen and Anthony Young with Belinda Crawford and Margaret McDonald. Winners of the day were Ann and Andy Plowman and Barb and Phil Stimson from Mirboo North. Ann, Andy, Barb and Phil have been wonderful supporters of our club for many years. They not only play all 3 days but also help us out when we are short of helpers and for this we are truly very grateful
17.01.2022 SGBD have released the Saturday Pennant draw for this season commencing 9th January. Reminder: this is a shortened season to only playing each team once. The final will be a one-off between the top 2 teams - GF location to be determined.
14.01.2022 To our players - this Friday evening, 20th Nov or Sunday 22nd Nov are the day to get fitted for our new club shirts. This is so we have the best chance of receiving them before Pennant starts on 9th Jan. Also, providing Travelling Jack has received our orders, Julie will be back on Friday too. She will be available to take new order whilst here too. Contact Errol to confirm her attendance.
11.01.2022 CLARIFICATION: We can have 3 groups of 10 bowlers on the green at any time with a 10 metre spacing between groups. E.g., rinks 1, 4 & 7. With social distancing of 1.5m. No social or barefoot bowlers allowed in this rule - Full members only. We cannot define this as "Pennant Practice" with SGBD not having a pennant competition running. FACE MASKS WHILST ON THE GREEN IS AGAIN MANDATORY.... Bowls Victoria does acknowledge the confusion and frustration this creates but it is so Metro and Regional Victoria can be under the same guidelines going forward. These guidelines may be revised on the 8th of Nov. See more
10.01.2022 Our triples is cancelled for this Wednesday 18th Nov. BV information given last Friday was not correct. On a positive, it was great that so many clubs wanted to attend. So much so, we would have had a full green. Hopefully we will see these teams at our next triples date.
10.01.2022 UPDATE 16/11: BV may have provided incorrect info on running Turkey triples - awaiting 100% accurate info. Teams notified ASAP. Our monthly 3-bowl triples will go ahead this Wed. 18th under current guidelines. Bowls attire. BYO LUNCH. Alternatively, we recommend you try the fish&chips at the Pt Welshpool StoreA big thank you to teams entered so far. We will have raffles of locally caught fish.
10.01.2022 Only 4 days until our Annual Tournament and there are still room for teams on all 3 days. TEAMS CAN BE MIXED ON ALL 3 DAYS.
08.01.2022 As our members will know, we are updating the colour of our club shirts away from the predominantly white shirt. The supplier has sent out a full sizing sample range of both men's and ladies shirts for us to try on. Below is the sizing chart and the style of shirts as requested at our last meeting. ALL CURRENT MEMBERS MUST HAVE THEIR SIZES IN ON FRIDAY 20TH NOVEMBER EVENING AS THE ORDER WILL BE SENT TO THE SUPPLIER MONDAY 23TH NOVEMBER.
07.01.2022 Another superb day, as usual, for the the last of our Annual Tournament with a full green again for our mixed triples. A big shout out to #RosedaleBowlingClub for bringing 3 teams today but also had 2 teams the first 2 days. There support of our club is very much appreciated. Our sponsors again this year was #AlbertonTimber. Runners-up were Ray, Jenny and Brian from Foster. Our winners today were Dennis O'Keefe from West Sale and Dave and Jodie Ashby from Clayton. Once again we must thank the Pakenham/Garfield crew of Gary, Graeme, Ron, Brian, KD, Alan and Stu for supporting us for all 3 days. Congratulations to Tex and Maree Ward from Rosedale for finally winning their illusive crayfish raffle. Thank you all and hopefully we'll see you all again next year.
04.01.2022 THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SHATTERING! As restrictions have been REVISED now that Metro is at the same restrictions level as Regional Victoria. We already will have no Pennant competition until the new year - at this stage. Also, now we will not be able to hold our triples or invitationals. Please read the revised Return to Play guidelines.
