25.01.2022 Our absolute favourite Tuff tray yet- making potions with spices, sugar, salt, vinegar, coloured water, peppermint water and bicarbonate soda! Oh the smells, tastes, fizz and waft of spice in the air was magical!! Throw in a sunny Winters day and we had a ball! #sensescomealive

25.01.2022 New small world play areas ready for the week! Inspired by the bugs coming out in Spring and the caterpillars we are finding in the garden. Hide and seek matching cards to encourage visual discrimination. Magnifying glasses to also develop visual processing and build classifying language. #hungrycaterpillarisafirmfavourite

23.01.2022 Tuff trays at our place! Sensory play at its best- following children’s interests in transport and making mixtures! Taste, smell, touch, see and hear the sounds trays like this can make when explored.

23.01.2022 Cooking in the cubby today with rose petals, lemon leaves and pink water! Keeping cool and calm in warm days

19.01.2022 Some of my favourite photos from the last two weeks! Books are a favourite at our place and we borrow from the library to support children’s interests. Kinetic sand and baby washing were very popular too, more sensory learning

19.01.2022 Pasta sensory tray with Australian animals to encourage familiarity and appreciation for our wildlife affected by bushfires. The children love the textures of different pasta shapes too. #sensoryexplorationforbraindevelopment

17.01.2022 Spring is finally here!! We have been looking at the changes Spring brings to the garden, enjoying the warmth and sunshine! The colours around us and sounds of busy birds are so welcome after such a cold Winter!

17.01.2022 You can see they are females as there are no dots on the lower hind open wings

16.01.2022 Some of our tuff trays so far...Dinosaur land with weetbix dirt, recycled materials and cars for a car park and airport, cinnamon & cocoa playdough rocks with construction trucks! #possibilitiesareendless

16.01.2022 Cooking in the cubby with flowers and leaves from the garden. Enjoying the scent of lemon leaves and the vibrant colour of hibiscus.

15.01.2022 We try hard to incorporate natural materials into our play experiences. Last week we had rose petals in coloured water, ready for mixing! Our fairy land expanded with gum leaves, pine cones and wooden discs. Threading included lovely eucalyptus leaves and pasta. It’s all about sensory exploration here at our place to build lots of brain connections!

14.01.2022 Garden Stew is a firm favourite when the sun is out and we can mix and stir!! The colours, textures, fragrances and tastes from the garden are just a sensory delight!! #edibleplaycooking

13.01.2022 The ladies have arrived!! Two gorgeous girls snuck out this morning, one fully out by 10 and one about half an hour later! A true privilege to release them as they happily sit on your hand for ages

11.01.2022 Our new felt landscape, a river bed, with Australian animals. Lovely for all ages and very popular with our toddlers. #naturalsmallworldplay

11.01.2022 Market stall time at our place this week! Imaginative role play, vocabulary building and real life use of numeracy. #lovefreshfruitandveggies

11.01.2022 Our gorgeous new cushion covers by indigenous artist Saretta Fielding. I chose the totem animal set as each one comes with a little story that I can share with the children when they play with these animals that are a part of our Australian animal set, or when they are relaxing on the couch! They love this space and I hope they’ve love it even more now! I also love to support small business and buy direct from the artist herself!

11.01.2022 Frozen blocks of water with rose petals and calendula flowers. Safe and edible, used to experiment with solids and liquids. Hammering them apart and scooping the petals out provided some ‘deep pressure’ sensory play and team work!

08.01.2022 Bit of a nautical theme this week, with scene set to load Noah’s Ark with animals, two by two- great for counting and discussion about different types of animals. The pirate ship is surrounded by all sorts of sea creatures ready for small world play! #childrenloveanimals #imaginativeplay #numeracythroughplay

08.01.2022 Feltboard fantasy-the children love these boards to create their own fantasy lands. They are a lovely warm, soft option for imaginative small world play and safe for most ages. #creativeandcolourful

08.01.2022 Loose parts are great open ended materials for children to use their imaginations with- to create, build, design and share. We have been given some beautiful new wooden pieces and seed pods. I’m using these as a provocation to get the children thinking!! Let’s see what they create or add to this staton over the next week or two!

06.01.2022 Celebrating our garden with a flower building station where some little critters can hide! Great for all ages and imaginations!

01.01.2022 Construction trucks are a favourite with some of the children at our place, so I created their own little construction small world play area with natural materials and transport books. Can’t wait to see their little faces light up tomorrow !!
