18.01.2022 From Dr. Fauci: Chickenpox is a virus. Lots of people have had it, and probably dont think about it much once the initial illness has passed. But it stays in your body and lives there forever, and maybe when youre older, you have debilitatingly painful outbreaks of shingles. You dont just get over this virus in a few weeks, never to have another health effect. We know this because its been around for years, and has been studied medically for years. Herpes is also a virus...Continue reading

14.01.2022 Safe and accessible housing and accommodation is a severe issue for 32% of people with a disability, a major issue for 27%, and somewhat an issue for a further 16%. Accessible housing is fundamental for the rights of people with a disability, so we are calling for minimum accessibility standards being regulated in the National Construction Code. https://www.postpoliovictoria.org.au/proposal-to-include-m/
11.01.2022 Please help me to tell them that we matter! Please sign the petition.
10.01.2022 While vaccination programs have, unfortunately, been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, polio workers are being redeployed to track the coronavirus and reduce... its spread, as well as continuing as best they can to monitor and minimise the spread of polio. "To mitigate the spread and preserve crucial progress made, GPEI will continue its polio surveillance activities to monitor the evolution of the situation and return in full force to eradication efforts as soon as it is safe to do so."
10.01.2022 Lets us know how your doing. Click on the link to fill in the survey. Take care & stay safe
10.01.2022 This is terrible news for anyone on NDIS.
09.01.2022 This is Jonas Salk (1914 - 1995) who decided not to patent his 1955 polio vaccine so that it would be affordable for millions of people who couldnt afford it. ...As a result, he lost out on an estimated 7 billion dollars. In an interview with Edward R. Murrow, Salk said: "There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?" Source: History In Pictures

05.01.2022 Our submission to the Disability Royal Commission challenges the illogical, abusive and unlawfully discriminatory decision to exclude older polio survivors from the NDIS https://www.postpoliovictoria.org.au/submission-against-th/
05.01.2022 It was the polio epidemic of August 1952, at Blegdam Hospital in Copenhagen. This little-known event marked the start of intensive-care medicine and the use of mechanical ventilation outside the operating theatre the very care that is at the heart of abating the COVID-19 crisis.
