17.01.2022 Update: Covid-19 Brimbank City Council have advised the immediate closure of our theatre facility in Phoenix Street North Sunshine due to the outbreak of covid-19. While our next production is not due until June, casting is complete and rehearsals were soon to begin. A cast announcement was in the works, but we'll hold off for now until there is a clearer picture of what the world looks like in the near future.... We know that artists and creatives are not able to do what they do as much at the moment. We all have to contribute to the restrictions on our society so we can beat this thing. Thier time will come again. And when it does, let's be the first to support them, to buy tickets, to share pieces of work, to encourage, to discuss, to praise, to critique. When the time comes, lets consume art like we're hoarding toilet paper, because at least we can guarentee there will enough for everyone! -Stephen Andrews.

06.01.2022 To celebrate 50 years, we have dived into the dusty archives of our great previous productions. Starring Greg Henderson, John Petropoulous, Jenny Price, Ivy Walker, Kris Weber and Bernie Cole. Look forward for more photos over the coming weeks!

05.01.2022 In July 1984, audiences at the Powderkeg Playhouse were entertained by a performance of Charley's Aunt, but Brandon Thomas. 03.01.2022 Preparations for the 2021 Powderkeg season are of course, a work in progress as you may have guessed. At this stage Brimbank City Council is allowing bookings for our venue Dempster Park Hall next year. There will be changing Covid-safe guidelines around how many people will be allowed inside a venue like ours - which we hope would at least allow us to have limited and socially distanced audience in the earlier months of 2021. We will look to stage two productions - around A...pril/May and August/September and our children’s/family show in November - depending on the numbers allowed indoors - or the ability to perform outdoors in some circumstances. We may also look at our options regarding One Act Plays that may take place in the middle of the year. Of course changes are a part of lives these days, so anything could happen between now and then - but in the mean time we hope to at least start to wake from our Covid induced hibernation. See more
