24.01.2022 NQ BEAT DOWN WRAP UP The results are in and whilst we didn’t come away with a win today, it was one heck of a fight that went to a split decision. Hard, fast & action packed from beginning to end. Congratulations to Chayd Brown from Oceanic Martial Arts Academy - a top competitor! ... Thank you to Patrick and the crew at NQ Beat Down for putting on a stellar event! We are super proud to announce that James was the recipient of the ‘Fighter of the day’ award. What an achievement and well earned recognition of his technical skills, as well as his sportsmanship in and out of the ring. As one of the officials said - I challenge anyone to declare a winner in that fight! He showed courage, passion and sheer determination right until the final bell. A fierce competitor; humble in victory, gracious in defeat. A true champion. We are so proud of you, James. Looking forward to your next fight. See you at training on Monday!

21.01.2022 2020 MMA Grading Day RESULTS Our very own Miss Amanda was double graded on the day - progressing from Novice Blue to Novice Red Belt! This young lady has done MMA at Power Up since the beginning and is almost into ‘black belt territory’! ... She is fierce, she is strong, she is powerful! Miss Amanda, we are so proud of you. What an amazing role model you are for our younger students to look up to.

With the halt on overseas travel due to COVID, we have a dance that will take you on the trip of a lifetime around the world! The Illumination Project A movement series that aims to cast light into the world through the medium of dance, encouraging a chain reaction of love & kindness & all things good extending as far as our light can reach. ... Don’t worry, we’re not only planning to share through a screen - the Charters Towers community will be seeing instalments of The Illumination Project live throughout the year, including at our end-of-year showcase (and that special event we’ve been talking about may just have something to do with it too). We challenge you to join us on our journey through the rest of 2020 and be the light someone else needs. 08.01.2022 This year, we decided to introduce some special awards; to be awarded annually at our final MMA Grading Day of the year. The first of the special awards is the ‘Studio Spirit Award’. It is a Certificate of Recognition to one student from each class for consistently demonstrating focused effort on developing their technical skills, whilst staying disciplined and well behaved. These students are valuable role models to other students in their class at Power Up Mixed Martial... Arts. 07.01.2022 This year has been an extremely tough year with the passing of our beautiful, Miss Mackenzie. Miss Mackenzie commenced MMA lessons not long after Power Up opened and after only a couple more years, started assisting at lessons as a student teacher with Miss Amanda. Mackenzie will be loved, missed and forever cherished by her Power Up Family and we wanted to honour this beautiful girl in a very special way. ... We now have two perpetual shields that will hang proudly in the MMA room to honour our beautiful, Miss Mackenzie. We are very proud to announce the recipients for 2020. Mackenzie Guild Memorial Award CLUB CHAMPION - AMANDA FORWARD Amanda has been with Power Up since the beginning. She has always been mature beyond her years, moving through the belts with multiple double gradings, starting as an assistant coach from a very young age and this year, teaching her own classes. Power Up MMA would not be what it is today without Miss Amanda. She is an asset to our studio and a fantastic role model to the younger students. We are so proud of the Martial Artist and young lady Amanda has become. Mackenzie Guild Memorial Award MOST IMPROVED - ANANT PUJAR Anant only started at Power Up this year but has already made a lasting impression. He is kind and quiet in nature, but fierce in his work ethic to improve. Anant is always well mannered, well behaved and courteous to teachers and fellow students and is the perfect recipient for the Most Improved Award in 2020. CONGRATULATIONS, Amanda and Anant. 04.01.2022 Nothing is impossible This is where I spent my morning - at our beautiful World Theatre Charters Towers, making plans to overcome the many obstacles that we’d face in staging our 2020 end of year concert. But let me tell you all - it’s happening! ... It has been a crazy year full of many lows and disappointments, so we are determined to make our annual event as ‘normal’ as possible for our Power Up students and families. These kids deserve it.
