17.01.2022 Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
13.01.2022 Had such a wonderful time looking after Nala. She was so affectionate and active and thank you to Mum and Dad for being so hospitable. I really enjoyed my time!
08.01.2022 As I return from my overseas holiday and attempt to recover from jet-lag I am extremely excited to reconnect with my beloved clients. Remember to keep Prairie's Puppies in mind when you hear of somebody who needs a walker or sitter, word of mouth is a small business's best friend.
07.01.2022 When the temperatures drop, dogs need special care to keep them healthy, safe, and warm. Whether your pup spends lots of time outdoors or goes out for a couple of quick walks, he needs your help to avoid cold-weather health hazards. Keep a few basic tips in mind this winter. Grab a sweater: Dogs with thick fur probably don’t need an extra layer when they head outside, but smaller breeds and those with short coats may be happier in a cosy sweater or coat. Take care of sensitiv...e skin: Just like your skin, your dog’s skin gets drier, itchier, and flakier in the winter. Don’t bathe him as often as you do in the summer -- that strips away his coat’s natural oils. When you do get him into the tub, use a moisturising shampoo. Make your house the dog’s house: If your dog spends most of his time outside, you need to be careful when winter sets in, even if he has a doghouse. The best way to keep your pooch safe is to keep him inside with you. But if you must keep him outdoors, make sure he has a doghouse that’s dry, free of drafts, with a floor that’s off the ground, and a doorway covered with a flap to keep out wind and rain. But even with all that, bring him indoors if the temps fall below freezing.
01.01.2022 Do Dogs Need Clothes? This may be a small concern to those who scoff at the idea of dressing their dogs and it is true - in most cases, the answer is no. Not all dogs need a woolly hand-knitted coat to protect them from the cold, especially in the warmer climate of the Sunshine State. Older breeds, dogs with medical conditions such as arthritis, short-haired breeds or very tiny dogs may benefit from the additional warmth though, as they have a harder time retaining body heat...! I always advise to ensure your beloved family pets have the option to come inside, or have a doggy house of their own, to protect them from the cooler nights. Remember to use your best judgement when deciding whether or not to coat-up your pupper this winter.
