25.01.2022 BLUE SHED LOVE This young man (Timothy) has taken it upon himself to build his mum Helen (Little Blue Shed Women Leader) a grass thatch house of her own. Mum is currently living in a tiny room with 8 people and the landlord keeps threatening to throw them out living in such instability is very stressful for Helen and her family.... So proud that Timothy has decided to take action to make bricks in his school holidays and build his mum a home. Little Blue Shed has contributed a wheel barrow, a water barrel and cheering Timothy on to complete his mission!

22.01.2022 INSPIRATIONAL WOMAN! it was a real blessing to have Agnes Amajo spend 2 days with our young mum's teaching fashion and tailoring. Agnes is a super talented fashion designer. She is a real testimony! Coming from a very vulnerable background and working her way up to a notable fashion organisation in Uganda. She is passionate, talented and a pure joy to be around. She taught and encouraged the girls that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

We are overwhelmed with the love of Ruth Appleby and other Ozzie mum''s that have put together the most adorable baby packs of goodies for new borns including hand knit blankets! We also were gifted with loads of Mamma Kits. Everything a lady would need to give birth! Much needed here among vulnerable women.... What a blessing for Ugandan Mums. Thank you Australia!!

13.01.2022 LITTLE BLUE SHED LOVE Baby Richard has a fatal heart condition...his mum Helen is a struggling single mother. Baby Richard has been on 6 months of oxygen, Helen had to take a loan out to pay for the medical treatment to keep him alive. She has been staying with him for long hours in the hospital which has affected Helen's earning capacity. ... The Bank is now threatening to sell Helen's house to pay back the loan, they have put a big marking on the side of the house. After a meeting today with the bank they willing to accept payment of $800 by Tuesday next week so that her house will be safe. We need to raise $800 to help this family. Baby Richard will need heart surgery which we will be addressing once we jump over this house hurdle! If you can spare a few dollars to help this precious family we would be so grateful!! 11.01.2022 WHAT AN INSPIRING YOUNG LADY! This is Winnie one of our Little Blue Shed trainers. She is great role model to many young mum's, she had her first baby as a teenager with no support. She has overcome many challenges and today teaches and encourages girls in the same position. Winnie is a blessing to us and young mum's in Uganda!
10.01.2022 POVERTY LOSES THE BATTLE! "I came from Africa, I am poor, my parents were poor and and my grandparents also and now I am too" this is the mind set of many women I work with, generations of poverty has lead them to believe that they are helpless over the situation and "this is how life is for me". I ENDURE AND SUFFER (they seem to the 2 most use words by African women). This is the battle Little Blue Shed fights against every day, it is a real battle, one we are determine to ...win over and over again. Many women are trapped in terrible conditions because they don't and financial freedom to make healthy decision for themselves and their children. This is when they resort to prostitution and other activities which does not honour their bodies. I love seeing women rise out of poverty and discover themselves! who they truly are with their unique gifts and talents. One lady I want to share about is Miss Mary. She is a lady I found on the street 2 years ago, she lived with me for 3 months, I helped Mary set up a business to support herself and her children. A couple of weeks ago I went to visit Mary, I couldn't contain my joy when she told me "guess what I now make 100,000 shillings per day" (approx $45AUD) that is a great income in Uganda. She has her own apartment and is able to provide for herself and her children now. Mary is free from the lie of "my life situation is never going to change"! Mary is now one of our Little Blue Shed Thelittle Blueshed Women Leaders, she is now able to encourage and pull up her other sisters out of the poverty lie, not just by words but through her own experiences. Well done Mary you fought the battle like a true solider.
10.01.2022 LITTLE BLUE SHED CHRISTMAS MATTRESS & BOX GIFT! January/February is a very difficult time for parents in Uganda! Why? because they need to pay for school fees + additional requirements (mattress, bed sheets and boxes) for Semester One. ... One of our children gave me his list of requirements for 2019, I nearly fell of my chair!!! We have seen this with our working ladies for the past 2 years, it really is a strain on their family budget. Little Blue Shed wants to take the pressure off some hard-working parents that just can't make ends meet. We have started a Mattress and Gift Box this Christmas to get ready for February 2019! 07.01.2022 VIOLENCE IS NOT JUST PHYSICAL It is one person controlling another. It can involve emotional and financial abuse. Women are trapped in devastating situation because they do not have the financial freedom to make healthy choices for themselves. So many that we comfort have no way out but to stay and endure the ill-treatment that has been cruelty dished out to them.... Dowry payment (generally live-stock cows etc) is paid for a women by the husband-to-be. This is supposed to be a beautiful gesture of appreciation to the in-laws for bringing up the bride-to-be. Unfortunately in many cases it is misused and once the dowry is paid a new level of OWNERSHIP comes in more like I OWN YOU NOW and can DO AS I PLEASE! This attitude generally leads to mistreatment - Dowry Related Violence. A few years down the track of abuse and mistreatment the women has nowhere to go. The husband has bought home another wife (a younger women to bear more children with). She now shares the home with a co-wife. Her home village wont accept her back because the Dowry has been paid for her, she now has a few children and nowhere to turn to. She lives in this bondage every day of her life. Women are trapped in shocking situation because they do not have the financial freedom to make healthy choices for themselves. So many that we comfort have no way out but to stay and endure the ill-treatment. When her tears roll down her cheeks and all you can do at that point is hug her to give her short term hope. An overwhelming feeling of action sets in. Little Blue Shed is dedicated to breaking the bondage for many women, to be the voice of the oppressed and to give LOVE and HOPE and FINANCIAL FREEDOM through skills, empowerment and employment. Every women is a precious daughter she just needs to realise and accept this truth for herself. That is our daily job to pure love into those that are lost and broken.

01.01.2022 LITTLE BLUE SHED & ACHOLI VILLAGE Spending time with the Acholi ladies - a time of sharing, dancing and bead rolling! Little Blue Shed is working with displaced women in Acholi Quarters. Many were driven from their home land in Northern Uganda during the insurgency. Now there are more than 5000 people squeezed into a slum.... We work with the groups to empower them and give them hope and employment opportunities. The Little Blue Shed Empower Me Shed products are made by the Acholi women. Thelittle Blueshed

01.01.2022 CUP CAKES! 4 weeks and 5 income generating activities have been taught to a group of single, young mum's. Last cab off the rank CUPCAKES! We had fun with our trainer Winnie who taught us to make delicious CUPCAKES on a charcoal stove. Great way to generate income individually or as a group!
