23.01.2022 Rehab, so often looked at as an inconvenience but it is the difference between moving forwards or backwards with your training. Injuries need time to heal and training needs to be modified to allow for this healing to occur. Take your time, dont rush back into things just because you feel ok. After sitting down and putting a plan in place it all became about execution and its safe to say that has happened so far. 11.01.2022 The basics. So often overlooked by people when embarking on a new fitness goal but why are they so important? Take the squat. Squats promote a stronger core, develop your lower body strength and size, and make you mentally tough. But, be warned. Squats are not easy to perform correctly or through a full range of motion. And good form is critical if you want the benefits without the risk of injury.... Dont just jump straight onto a bar and try and go ass to grass. Go through the motions from start to finish, prepare the body and make sure you have the mobility to perform the movement under load. Building the foundation to better squat with a barbell, involves first learning the fundamentals with bodyweight-only movements, incorporating a better warm-up, working on your overall mobility, and developing more core strength. 07.01.2022 Lets talk supplements One of the most common things you see in a gym nowadays is shakers full of all sorts of concoctions, there are supplement stores on every corner and every time you jump on insta you see some shredded human holding a supplement container of some sort. But do they actually work?... Sure, some supplements can play a role in getting results, but nothing can beat eating real foodThink about the hundreds of dollars you spend each month purchasing the latest fat burner to lose those inches or pre-workout just so you can get through your workout. Reliance on these products is where we have become misguided. How many times have you walked into a supplement store and been told you need this!! It is nothing more than a sales pitch to get you to buy the newest product on the market. Remember that supplements are simply that, a supplementThey are used in support of balanced training and nutrition where your body needs it. So what supplements can we use daily that actually benefit us? Protein - For many it can be hard to hit our protein goals during the day, so protein powder is a great bang for buck supplement to get those numbers up without having to force ourselves to chew through mountains of chicken. Creatine Is naturally found in your muscle cells and helps produce energy during exercise by pulling more water into the muscle belly. Therefore our glutes, hips and core all become affected. Bodyweight glute activation exercises enable you to contract your glutes harder than many other weighted exercises such as squats and deadlifts. The reverse hyperextension is an accessory movement that can be used to increase muscle hypertrophy and function of the glutes and hamstrings. Matt has made it harder by adding tension in the form of the resistance band. If you partake in strength, power, and fitness sports you may find this exercise very useful to increase the ability to build more muscle mass in the muscle groups involved in explosive lifts, heavy pulls, squatting, sprinting, and general lower back health/injury prevention.

Once that choice occurs and becomes automatic its not only real, it starts to seem inevitable, the thingthat bears us irresistibly toward our destiny, whatever the latter may be. How do you create good habits? Youll need more brain power initially, until your default behavior becomes the automat...ic habit building youre chasing. With each day of you building your new habit, youre overcoming any self-limiting belief, building momentum, and becoming a habit-building badass! And then those habits become automatic. Were conditioned these days to expect and receive instant gratification but this creates laziness and excuses as to why we sometimes fail. Dont try to do it all at once! How many times have you promised to get up everyday, go for a run and stop eating crap and hit the gym 4 times a week? Start small, pick one thing and keep doing it until it becomes a part of your routine then pick another. So today, I want you to look at just ONE habit you want to change: Identify the cue that spurs it on Is it the time of day? Boredom? Hunger? After work? Stress? Identify the potential rewards Happiness? Energy? Satisfaction? Identify a new routine youd like to establish that results in the same reward from the negative behaviorbut in a more productive and healthy way.

03.01.2022 Coach Vs Trainer Something that I get asked a lot is what is the difference between a coach and a trainer? Aside from the obvious answer of qualifications there are some simple behavioural traits that discern a coach from a trainer. A trainer transfers knowledge whilst a coach enhances knowledge.... Trainers generally count reps and offer variations of exercise. They are highly enthusiastic and vocal in the gym and are great motivators that celebrate the moment A coach, thats different. A coach has learned that saying less in more effective. That giving cues rather than instructions is a more efficient way of getting results. They are better able to adapt a movement rather than just stop it and try again. Becoming a coach is more than science and exercise or having letters after your name. It is about being able to listen better, speak efficiently, relate when appropriate, and show empathy instead of sympathy.
