15.01.2022 I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. Michael Jordan I am pretty excited to watch the documentary next week. Personally I loved his competitiveness. It is what I enjoyed most, more than the athleticism, talent or tactics, pure desire to achieve greatness. I hope it lives up to the hype a...nd gives those of you that are not sport fanatics an insight into how his mindset elevated his peers and the game to a new level. What is your favourite Jordan quote / memory? #Jordan #success #basketball #takeachance #business #leadership #management #thelastdance

13.01.2022 Every year in August, a major spotlight is placed on rail safety in the community via the public awareness campaign Rail Safety Week. The aim is to highlight the importance of being safe and acting responsibly on, and around the rail network. Fatalities, incidents and near hits on the network can cause severe and lasting trauma to the rail employees involved, and the majority of these incidents can be avoided! The team at Prescribe Australia work to prevent and assist muscul...oskeletal injuries with a number of rail companies, this can at times put us in thick of the rail corridor. We can not stress enough the importance of staying safe around the rail network and this is why we make the pledge to be #RailSAFE. Some great points from the @tracksafenz toolkit: The easiest and best way to be #safe around the network is to follow the basic safety rules and respect rail signage. Always look both ways before crossing tracks and cross at designated areas. Remember trains can’t stop quickly or swerve; make sure you give them right of way. Pay attention and avoid being distracted by mobile devices. For more info or to make a pledge to be RailSAFE go to https://lnkd.in/g8btBJh #RSW2020 #rail #safety #railsafety

Ms Ryan says cardio is the first area to decline, with significant losses in speed and stamina after just two weeks off. Muscle mass and strength takes a little longer, however if you have locked your exercise routine down with COVID-19 then you should have a read.

07.01.2022 Most of us think of #pain as a result of an injury or disease. We expect it will go away once we have medical treatment or the injury heals. For many people, this is the case. However for others, the pain doesn’t go away. In some cases, you can have pain without an injury or obvious body damage. # This ongoing type of pain is called chronic pain. Approx 1 in 3 Australians live with chronic pain. How do I know if my pain system is being over protective?... If you have had pain for more than a few months, then your pain system will be more efficient at producing pain. This is what happens over time your system becomes more sensitive. There are many ways to retrain your pain system, but they all begin with understanding your pain. When our pain system becomes over protective, it stops us doing the movements, activities and other things & that are actually necessary for recovery. How do I know if I am safe to move? Movement is the most critical pathway to recovery and it is almost always safe to move. Get a health professional to check you over and give you the ‘OK’ to move. A health professional will be able to tell you if you are the very rare case for whom it is not safe to move. Injuries heal, and your body’s tissues adapt amazingly well to the demands of life. #chronicpain #pain #injury #rehab #workerscomp #icare #exercise #exercisephysiology #backpain #healthandwellbeing #wollongong #illawarrabusiness

06.01.2022 Just over a month since many of our clients made the shift to working from home. Now laying on the couch, completing your normal work hours on your laptop, with your neck kinked and arms bent in awkward positions would seem like sure fire way to cause pain. However, variations of the above is what we continue to see through our online and virtual ergonomic assessments. I believe there is two foundations to ensuring you can efficiently and effectively work from home. ... The first is having a dedicated space at home that can be your place of work; this includes utilising the appropriate ergonomic furniture for you. The second is strategically planning your work day; varying your posture, scheduling time to move, building core fitness and spinal health. I keep seeing so much content about sitting upright, with good posture....this may be because employers have a legal responsibility to ensure that their employees’ health and wellbeing is not compromised.... Yes, this will provide a more even distribution of load on the body. However, this does not mean that sitting in that posture all day will save you from pain. This is because any posture, for too much time, can accumulate load and lead to injury. #workfromhome #posture #ergonomics #virtualergonomics #remotework

06.01.2022 If exercise was a pill doctors would #Prescribe it to every patient. Exercise can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer by up to 50% and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%. Its been shown to prevent injury, increase mental wellbeing and improve productivity, however most of us don't take our daily or even weekly prescription. It's free, easy to take, has an immediate effect and you don't need a GP to Prescribe it.
