20.01.2022 Mitsubishi Evolution X/Ralliart SST Rebuilds Here is another post about the dual clutch gearboxes that you see in the Evo X & Ralliarts One thing to remember guys when it comes to these gearboxes, cheapest isn't always best. ... And if it is cheaper, you want to ask yourself. What aren’t they replacing With these gearboxs getting older and older that only means they are wearing more and more. Here we have is a gearbox that was fully "built" due to clutches been worn which was done by another workshop Customer has driven the car for 6 months, only to find bunch of oil leaks and yep you guessed it. Slipping clutch’s and jerking again! Upon stripping the gearbox and customer being under the impression that they did a complete rebuild. Only to find that the clutch’s was the only thing they replaced. Still factory shift fork, worn clutch dampeners and valvebody in bad condition. Not something you want to hear after spending $7000 Here at Prestige Performance, we can't stress how important it is to take it to someone who knows what they are doing. After many years of testing, we have made packages that work and are affordable. Packages ranging from stock to 600kw builds. Our packages are based on the application of the vehicle. Careful SST tuning is a must with a freshly built gearbox for the best performance and longevity. What can you do as a SST owner? Maintenance is the key. One of the reasons they fail is due to lack of servicing. This is why we change the SST oil and filter every 20,000kms. Drive in S-Sport mode as much as you can. 09.01.2022 During this busy time, we had the opportunity to do some testing on J pipes on this Mitsubishi Ralliart running the INTENSE 5656RS turbo. We will talk about 2 things in here. 1. How much gains the J pipe made?... 2. How dyno's plot power numbers? Its going to be a long one. So sit down and enjoy over a coffee or just scroll up Lets start off with the car we used, Mitsubishi Ralliart. Running our in house built PPM 300KW package. And yes, it's got our very own PPM 10 plate SST rebuild for those extra killawasps Whats a J pipe ? J pipe AKA turbo outlet pipe that is connected to your hot side of the intercooler system. In this example we will be comparing the stock J pipe vs Plazmaman J pipe. For test purposes, we tested the stock J pipe @23PSI. As you can see the dyno graph in GREEN. It resulted in 255kw/385nm We quickly swapped it out for the Plazmaman J pipe. Nothing else. Did another pull on the dyno. (RED LINE) On paper, it looks like it lost 1kw. You would think oh what a waste of $250 upgrade. Now let's look deeper into it Looking at the first photo, looking at boost at 3600rpms. It actually spooled up 400rpms earlier! Not only that but running 5psi more at 3600rpms. It gets better looking at the second photo. GREEN LINE = STOCK J PIPE RED LINE = PLAZMAMAN J PIPE Again, looking at 3600rpms. It has in fact gained 32kw and 70nm of torque. From just a J pipe! Moving onto the 2nd point to talk about. DYNO NUMBERS Please note: Dyno is a tuning tool for us tuners, not to compare numbers from dyno to dyno as there are too many variables. Now, let's get serious Car enthusiasts tend to look at the final figures at the top of the screen and if its not what they expected from reading on the forums, it results in an unhappy outcome.
