21.01.2022 The Preston Beach Golf Club would like to thank the following Sponsors without whom we would not be able to continue to provide the wonderful game of golf to the community together with the many social events. Alcoa Australia Andrew Hastie MHR Dirt N Boondies... Footprints Resort Preston Beach General Store Preston Beach Handyman Service Riggs Auto Centre Robyn Clarke MLA Summit Realty South West Vinyard 28 Waroona Home Timber & Hardware We will continue to post the Sunday events on Facebook to acknowledge the many community members who sponsor the event days. PLEASE NOTE however that the events will not take place until the club reopens.

20.01.2022 Sunday 17th is our first official game for all members. Tee Off 9.30am. We ask you to attend before 9.15 to allow partner allocations and a brief address from Club President Manny Milonas. NOTE No Meal due to Covid 19 restrictions. Bar will be open but club will observe strict social distancing rules of 1.5m within the club-rooms, together with hygiene practices.

20.01.2022 Trust all is well with you and, to date, no China virus in our Shire! A great result and one we must keep, which means obeying the current instructions in and on play. With the relaxation of numbers restrictions to 10, this decision has opened the door for commencing golf. As a consequence the Committee has decided to commence mens scroungers on Friday 8th May at a 2pm tee off. ( the ladies have been playing unofficially on Friday mornings whilst upholding the restrictions...) Club competitions will commence on Sunday 17th May, tee off 9.30am. There are however, some restrictions we must comply with. These are, no more than 6 players in a group. This doesnt apply to us a it takes too long to complete a round. Our maximum is usually 4 players. Social distancing still applies i.e. 1.5 metres separation, no touching of greens flags, only family members together in a golf cart, no more than 10 players on the course and, carrying personal protection such as wipes etc.. After games, no bar open, no activities in the clubrooms( other than filling in score cards and registering.) We will be permitted to sit on the first tee after the game whilst waiting for results whilst complying with distance rules. Personally, I think there may be a further relaxation by the 17th, and we can adjust accordingly if necessary. The game is the Presidents Trophy and is an Ambrose game. I do need a rough guess on who is intending to play on the 17th. So if you intend playing, please advise me so that proper arrangements can be made to accommodate maybe more than 10 players. This is important. As a club , it appears members have been responsible and complied with current restrictions. I have had feed back from the Shire supporting our stance and compliance, so we dont want to spoil this good record by some infringement and incurring a heavy fine. It is regrettable that our Friday evening socialising is still restricted and the bar cannot be opened, but hopefully this will also be relaxed quite soon. Same goes for after Sundays games. In conclusion, hope you are all well and looking forward to commencing golf. Please stay safe, and dont relax your vigilance in this virus fight. See more

19.01.2022 I am very pleased to advise members that we have been successful in our application to the Alcoa Sustainability Fund for funding to reticulate fairways 5,6, &7. This is a provisional approval, subject to certain issues being addressed, which we are working on now. Our application asked for $50,000 and they have approved $40,000 which is a terrific outcome. Whilst this is not the complete amount needed, it is certainly a massive help. We still have ongoing discussions with oth...er potential sponsors. If you are in a position to assist please contact Bill McLellan on 0412 926 803 who will be happy to let you know how you can contribute funds. We have already had a generous donation of $2000 which the club is beyond grateful to accept. Well done to the club members who have worked many years to arrive at this outstanding result. Your passion and tenacity has brought us to the position we are in today.......THANKYOU

18.01.2022 The Preston Beach Golf Club is pleased to announce that all profits from this event will be donated to Fire Relief in the Eastern States. To this end, a Gold Coin donation will be requested at the event and a sausage sizzle and raffle will also be available. We hope to raise a substantial amount for the cause. Flyers have been distributed in mailboxes around Preston Beach but due to the limited supply you may not have received one. Rest assured all are welcome and we look forward to seeing you, your family and friends on the night.

14.01.2022 Please find the April Newsletter for the club attached to this post. You still have time to complete an application form to become a member for the 2020 price of $40. If you need an application form please PM the club and we can arrange for it to be sent to you.

13.01.2022 Regrettably, we have had to cancel upcoming events and all competitions due to this insidious virus. In particular, the Opening Day and Easter Cup have been postponed as has our annual Easter Raffle. Hopefully they can be conducted in the future. The latest edict from Governments is that Friday evening get together s after golf are also cancelled. In effect, the club is closed until normality returns. These decisions have not been made lightly, but our ethical and moral res...ponsibilities are clear and for the sake of our community, we must comply with this new way of living our lives for the immediate future. There are some positive signs on the health front, particularly with the use of existing malarial and HIV drugs. Trials are being conducted in Australian hospitals as I write this correspondence and the results could hold the key to a speedier recovery for our health and the economy. Lets all hope for positive results. Meantime, the Committee are forging ahead with our reticulation plans and will continue to apply for the Alcoa Sustainability Funding. Applications close 10th April. Also, the Committee has invested almost $3000.00 in purchasing reticulation materials for number 2 fairway. Thanks to Charlie, Mick, Greg, Ross, Terry O ,and Peter and others for their contribution to this project. Much hard work has been put in by these members. There is still some work to be done. It is so pleasing to see water on the fairway encouraging beautiful green grass to grow! Also, club member and sponsor, Craig Pilton is offering his services as PB Home Handyman, so if you need assistance, more on a physical basis, give Craig a call on 0437796644 and discuss. I hope to continue these updates on a fairly regular basis. Maggie will be doing a quarterly newsletter keeping all members informed of club news and events. Hope you are all well an keep yourselves virus free. Please take care and observe the rules! Bill McLellan Secretary Preston Beach Golf Club

05.01.2022 Sick of staying at home? Looking for something to do? Social isolation driving you balmy? The Preston Beach Golf Club has just the solution....... There are lots of busy bee jobs required on the fairways, little things like pulling some onion weeds on your daily walk. Grabbing a rake and tidying up under the tree on the fairways. Little tasks too numerous to mention. If you are looking for something to do contact the club and we will be happy to find you a task to help us out.

02.01.2022 Huge Thankyou to Clint, Gwen and the fabulous staff at the Preston Beach General Store for the amazing Christmas spread we enjoyed last night. 01.01.2022 CSRFF APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED FOR UPCOMING SPORT AND RECREATION PROJECTS The Shire of Waroona has set their sights on three major sport and recreation projects ...for the 2020/21 financial year to the value of $360,000. These projects include the redevelopment of the Waroona Recreation and Aquatic Centre (WRAC) upper ablutions and pool concourse, installation of a new three bay cricket net training facility on the lower cricket oval and the reticulation of three fairways at the Preston Beach Golf Club. At the ordinary council meeting on the 25th of August, council endorsed three submissions to the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for the Small Grants round of the Community Sport and Recreation Facility Fund (CSRFF) for each of the projects. WRAC Redevelopment - $210,000 Cricket Nets - $63,000 Preston beach Golf Club Reticulation - $87,000 Councils support for each project identifies the importance sport and recreation has within the Shire. The redevelopment of the WRAC aquatic concourse will result in a more family orientated and modern space and is likely to attract additional users. The new cricket nets will provide the Waroona Cricket Club with a facility that will cater for the growing number of members as well as becoming a community asset to be used by the public. The Preston Beach Golf Club is located in one of the Shires tourist areas and provides locals and visitors with spectacular views, often accompanied by the resident kangaroos. The irrigation will transform the fairways from sand to grass, providing an attractive and unique experience. The CSRFF successful grants are expected to be announced late October.
