24.01.2022 Good Morning Bullants The Club is pleased to keep the announcements going this week, as we welcome a new player, and the man who will be Club and First XI Captain for the new season, Michael Stretton. Michael comes to Preston with an established cricketing resume, having played in the Sydney Grade Competition for ten years and then in the Premier Competition here in Melbourne for the last two seasons.... Michael played at Parramatta District Cricket Club from 2009/2010 until 2013/2014, where he was First XI Captain from 2011/2012 until 2013/2014. He then moved across to play at Bankstown District Cricket Club from 2014/2015 until 2018/2019, where he was First XI Captain for the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 Seasons. Having moved to Melbourne, Michael signed with the Greenvale Kangaroos Cricket Club in 2019/2020, where he has played as First XI Captain for the last two seasons. Michael met with President Stephen Wilson, Coach Luke Bramich and former Club and First XI Captain Michael Hayes in the last couple of days to officially sign on as a Bullant. The Club would like to welcome Michael to Preston and we look forward to working with him as preparations for the new season ramp up. Have a great day.

21.01.2022 The Club would like to congratulate 200 First XI game, Championship-Premiership player and Life Member Aaron Whear on becoming the 223rd First XI player to play for the Altona Cricket Club yesterday against Yarraville. Wheary took 1/35 from 5, but the A’s couldn’t get the six points against the Eagles. All your friends at Preston wish you all the very best wishes for the season ahead and congratulate you on this next chapter in your wonderful cricketing career.

21.01.2022 Good Morning Tonners and welcome to Round Two. This week, the Bullants go head to head with the Williamstown Seagulls. With the main ground at Williamstown out of action for the season, there is a slight change to the fixture this round which sees the Firsts, Seconds and Thirds play Saturday and the Fourths playing Sunday.... The Firsts host the Seagulls at the Preston City Oval. The Seconds head to the ground behind Bayside Secondary College to play Williamstown there. The Thirds host the Seagulls at CT Crispe Park. The Fourths, in action on Sunday, will head down to Bayside Secondary College to take on Williamstown. All the best wishes to everybody for Round 2. Let’s bring it home this weekend. 21.01.2022 Good Afternoon Tonners Welcome the eve of Round One of the 2020/2021 VSDCA season. For those that are unaware, the 2020/2021 Season will be played over 13 rounds and all games will be one day matches. The Firsts, Seconds and Thirds will play in 40 over matches, down from the usual 45 overs, and the Fourths will play 35 overs, down from the usual 40 overs.... Round One sees the Bullants taking on the Brunswick Magpies. The First XI will be playing for the Steve Molloy Sheild, named after Steve, who was a Championship-Premiership Captain-Coach and player at Preston and also played 222 First XI games with Brunswick over 30 years. Seven new players pull on the red and white for the first time tomorrow. They are Upul Bandara, Thimira Jayasinghe, Sajith Kalumpriya, Marcus Murphy, Sam Tolley, Naveen Malik and Nicholas Xavier. Welcome to you all and we hope you have a great day. Upul, Thimira, Sajith and Marcus have all been named in the first eleven for their first match. Each have been allocated the following First XI number for Preston- Bandara- 551 Jayasinghe- 552 Kalumpriya- 553 Murphy- 554 These four gents are now part of a group of 44 players that have debuted in the Firsts against the Magpies. Some game milestones for tomorrow- Cameron Barry plays his 201st game for the Club tomorrow. Cameron has played in all four elevens and is a Premiership player for the Club. Liam Ingram plays his 50th game for the Club tomorrow. He has played the majority of his games in the Firsts and Seconds. We wish all players, current, new and returning, all the very best for the tomorrow and the season ahead. If supporters are going to any of the grounds to watch games tomorrow, please ensure that you check in on arrival to the ground, wear a mask and adhere to all the current health precautions in place. 19.01.2022 Good Morning Tonners Round One of the 2020/2021 Season was played yesterday and the Bullants only picked up one win from the four games against the Brunswick Cricket Club. Brunswick were too good for Preston at the Preston City Oval and retained the Steve Molloy Shield.... In a low scoring match Preston were rolled for 126. The Magpies chased down the total inside 24 overs. In the other games, the Second XI, after bowling out Brunswick for 182, chased down the target, winning by 6 wickets. The Third XI fell agonisingly short of Brunswick’s total of 8/158, losing by 1 run at CT Crispe Park. The Fourth XI lost by 33 runs, being bowled out 194, despite some late match big hitting at Holbrook Reserve. Round 2 sees Preston taking on Williamstown, with three matches next Saturday and the Fourth XI playing on Sunday. Have a great week.
