25.01.2022 Vale Bruce Hill It is with great sadness and heavy heart we share the news that Bruce Hill passed away yesterday 16th April 2020. As some of you were aware in 2018 Bruce was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and in the year following, he continued working tirelessly for the Preston Motorcycle Club, even after two major brain surgeries coupled with crippling treatment. Such was the fight and strength of Bruce, he never stopped giving to the motorcycling community; it was... very much ingrained in his life and now his legacy. Bruce contributed nothing short of a lifetime to the motorcycling community. He was 16 years old when he started riding and 19 when he first joined a motorcycle club, the then Police Motorsports Club. He has raced enduro, dirt track, supermoto and road race from the ages of 22 to 65 years old. Not many know that Bruce was a member of the Victoria Police Force. He was a senior instructor at the police motorcycle school, specialising in off road riding and search and rescue for about seven years. One of the key achievements in his role in the police force included assisting in the introduction of protective leathers, full faced helmets and protective gear for police motorcycle officers. As a keen Ducati enthusiast and rider, Bruce was a co-founder of the Ducati Owner’s Club in about 1975. In his time with the club he held various committee roles, including President. In 1993, Bruce joined the Hartwell Motorcycle Club. He was a committee member in 2011 but was required elsewhere and moved across to the Preston Motorcycle Club and assumed a committee position in 2013. In 2014 Bruce became President of the Preston Motorcycle Club and he was the key driver in the club’s efforts to revitalise the Victorian Road Racing Championships. With a keen passion for motard racing, and awareness of a gap in the state for this group of riders, he also introduced the Supermoto Championships into the series, after convincing Motorcycling Victoria to build a dirt component to the road race track for the Supermoto riders. Bruce campaigned to get the Bracket Racing Series up and running. The idea had been played with around the club for a few years, but once again, it was Bruce’s leadership and drive that got a new and different type of series, specifically suited to new racers. Such was Bruce’s commitment to motorcycling, in 2019 Motorcycling Victoria was proud to induct him to the list of honoured life members. Bruce’s dedication and leadership to the motorcycling community will be greatly missed, but his legacy of what he built will be remembered and be successful for many years to come. Thank you, Bruce, for all you have done; a selfless volunteer and perpetual giver to motorcycling that will provide us great happiness and enjoyment for decades to come. Bruce, may you Rest in Peace, we will miss you.

24.01.2022 Great recognition from many decades of volunteering to the motorcycle racing community! We love having Brendan on our committee, he brings years of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to us all. Thank you Brendan

24.01.2022 This time, last year the Cube Racing Team and I won the Hughie Hoare feature race at the third round of the Pirelli Motul Victorian Road Racing Championship, wh...ich was ran at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit! I had to work hard for what is a prestige trophy in the Victorian Road Racing Championship. I was pushed all the way by Jack Passfield, Aidan Hayes and last year's Victorian Supersport Champion, Scott Nicholson in the twelve-lap race. However, we managed to hold onto the win by a mere .025sec. For those who may not know who and what Hughie Hoare was. He was involved in motorcycle racing for over 50 years, first as a competitor, then as an official and a commentator. Hughie was a life member of the Preston Motorcycle Club Inc, as well as being their President for several years. Hughie also commentated at the Australian WorldSBK events for a number of years, as well as at club and ASBK - Australian Superbikes rounds. I was very horned to be able to win this trophy last year and something I'll look back on in years to come Images: Russell Colvin (783 Media) Macna Australia AGV Helmets Australia TCX Boots Australia Motul PirelliMoto INOX Lubricants Link International Cube Performance Centre Underground Designs Termignoni Öhlins Australia Öhlins Racing AB Sprint Filter Motorcycles Australia Sprint Filter GBRacing Australia GBRacing World Class Motorcycle Protection - GBRacing Eazi-Grip Australia Eazi-Grip Racing Products TEMPUR Leda Nutrition Koda Nutrition Australian Outdoor Living YRD Yamaha Racing Development programme #gsegroup #Brembo #ASBK #ASBK2020

22.01.2022 It's not the news we wanted to hear, as it seems 2020 is the year of cancelled events. With the easing of Melbourne's travel restrictions, we were hopeful of being able to run our final planned event of 2020 with a Bracket Race on November 22nd. As we are directed by Motorcycling Victoria, who are also guided by the Department of Sport and Recreation, unfortunately there are remaining restrictions on the number of people who could attend a amateur club race event. The limit...s imposed remain at groups of 10, which means we simply cannot commercially or safely run a race meet until these restrictions further ease. If you would like to read more on these directions, please do so here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au//Restricted%20Activity%20Direc Although this is very disappointing, we very much look forward to a huge 2021 with our Bracket Racing and Victorian Road Racing Championship event schedule locked in and ready to be published in the coming weeks. If you had already entered Bracket Racing, your entry will be fully refunded as we are no longer carrying these entries over to the next year or rounds. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact the club [email protected] or calling 1300 20 48 45.

21.01.2022 We've had quite a few questions from members about our planned Bracket Race that is scheduled for Sunday November 22nd. We are very hopeful that this event will go ahead, however we are awaiting advice and direction from Motorcycling Victoria before opening up entries. Due to the cancelled Bracket Races throughout 2020, those entries have rolled forward and remain booked in our system, so you are all confirmed if the event can go ahead (there's about 30 entries already). Stay tuned and watch out for emails for further updates, or feel free to message us. Looking forward to seeing you guys all on track racing soon enough.

19.01.2022 With all the talk about the track resurfacing at Broadford, Preston Motorcycle Club Inc committee members were invited to the track by Motorcycling Victoria for... an inspection yesterday. We obviously wanted to make sure that Round 2 would proceed as scheduled for May 2nd & 3rd, and following our track walk yesterday we are happy to report that the track looks fantastic. Although we had a number of contingency plans in place, we are pleased that MV have been able to work through to a solution. MV will hold plenty of track days prior to Round 2, allowing you time to get accustomed to the new surface, and from what we can tell it will be a ripper! 16.01.2022 The Preston Motorcycle Club has a long history, dating back 100 years. We love seeing all the old memorabilia, like this copy of the race program from 1977. We also spotted current Preston committee member and long time motorcycle racing supporter Gavin Cosway as the Safety Control Marshall at this meeting. Head over to Motorcycle Racing Australia 1970-2000 page for some great history on racing in Australia.

11.01.2022 It was great to see some of our members out on track at Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex on the weekend. Champion's Ride Days did a brilliant job managing the day around the social distancing restrictions. Feedback on the freshly resurfaced track is positive and as the weekend went on, times were falling, even with the very cold track temperatures. Preston member and A grader Tim Large posting some very quick times of low 58's, only being half a second off his PB p...ace. This tells us the track will be a fast one, once bike setups are optimised for the new surface along with tyres and warmer track temperatures. Overall, feedback is the track is very grippy, tyre wear is good once you have the right tyre and setting. Crash corner might need to be renamed, as this is now a little wider and the approach can be different than before. Down the hill and through the flip/flop is awesome, very grippy and will be faster than before. There is a "speed hump" in the braking zone before tipping into school house - adds character and may catch a few out. The left hander has changed, meaning you can take a different line than before and really rip into the throttle coming onto the main straight. Want to see the new surface, check out this onboard from Daniel Leonard #21 https://youtu.be/aO8BwqsHz1k We can't wait for racing to begin again at Broadford to see what you all can do! In the meantime, make sure you get to the track and lay down the rubber to make it even more awesome. Lastly, Motorcycling Victoria are running track days this Saturday and Sunday - registrations open tomorrow night - get on it... https://www.facebook.com/events/339916973651437/ https://www.facebook.com/events/238974964047874/

10.01.2022 On the Friday the 16th April 2021, it was a year since we lost our previous President and life member Bruce Hill. PMCC and the road racing community miss you terribly, but you are with us in our hearts and in our thoughts whenever we gather as a community, and a club. When the big decisions need to be made, I've heard more than one person ponder "What would Brucie do?" With the world turning upside down in your last days and in your passing, we had not yet had the opportunity... to say goodbye and pay our respects to the glorious human you were. That went on and on and on.... We asked the legendary Greg at Signpro.com.au to help us out with some cool decals for us all remember you and the result brought some tears (I'm not crying, you're crying). We will have them available for anyone who would like them at our Shannons Insurance - Bracket Racing 2021 - Round TWO event at Broadford on Sunday 16 May and will work out a request/mail out process after. Ride on Bruce! See more

10.01.2022 Save the dates, book your annual leave and start planning your racing and road trips for 2021. We are proud to announce our confirmed event schedule. The Vict...orian Title for Road Racing is now run over 4 rounds at 4 different circuits. We have listened to our racers and have locked in what will be a huge return to Winton Motor Raceway in April. For the first time, we will be using Winton's long track for our series. Round 2 we move onto Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, in what is always a huge round. Round 3 at Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex for a fresh new surface and records set to be smashed. The 4th and final round will be run at The Bend Motorsport Park, held jointly with the South Australian Title. We are excited to continue our collaboration with Cafnix and partner for this final round at The Bend, allowing us to run 2 of our 4 rounds at FIM rated circuits. We are currently finalising our Supp Regs, where there are some changes to our racing format with additional races, meaning you get even more laps and racing. Stay tuned for more announcements and an exciting year ahead.

09.01.2022 We are getting excited for Shannons Insurance - Bracket Racing 2021 - Round TWO Get those entries in before 7th of May to avoid the late entry fee! Going to be a great event

09.01.2022 NEW SPONSOR for 2020 The Preston Motorcycle Club is proud and excited to announce that Shannons Insurance has signed on as our Bracket Racing Naming Rights Sponsor for 2020. Preston Motorcycle Club has a long standing relationship with the awesome team at Shannons Insurance, and after some discussion Shannons decided to help us out in 2020. With this sponsorship, it allows Preston Motorcycle Club to keep Bracket Racing as the most affordable road racing series in Victori...a, which will help us keep entry prices to a minimum even with the rising costs of track hire and racing in general. Make sure you support the great people at Shannons Insurance, as they help us with grassroots road racing!

01.01.2022 Some great action shots and huge grids from last weekend's Round 1 of the 2020 Pirelli Motul Victorian Road Racing Championship held The Bend Motorsport Park for the very first time...

01.01.2022 BIG NEWS for 2020 Our Championship dates for 2020 are now finalised, so you can start booking in leave, accommodation and working around these dates. BUT......the big news is that our Round 1 has moved from Winton to The Bend Motorsport Park!! The Preston Motorcycle Club Inc has been working very hard over the past months to make this exciting new event possible. In collaboration with Cafnix our Victorian State Title Round 1 will be combined with the South Australian Round 1 to be held at The Bend Motorsport Park on the weekend of February 1st and 2nd (with a Friday practice also scheduled). South Australian racers will also join us for our Phillip Island round in August as part of their state title. This change may not suit everyone, but unfortunately our series could no longer afford the Winton price increases without significant financial losses. This new collaboration and partnership means we are able to add a 2nd FIM world class circuit to our series, and if a success in 2020 will be continue for years to come. We are in the process of finalising the Supp Regs and 3 day schedule, as I am sure many of you will have further questions. Look out for additional details in the coming weeks and FB event to be created soon. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact Preston President - Travis Hardy - [email protected] OR message us on FB.

01.01.2022 Join the event page to be kept up to date for all the Round 1 details. Entries to open on Friday, with more details to follow this week about the classes and discounts for VRRC entrants!

01.01.2022 Massive News - Bracket Racing is heading to Phillip Island for the first time in 2021. After a very difficult year, the committee has been working hard to secure an awesome calendar of events for Bracket Racing in 2021. For the first time, we are taking Bracket Racing to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, which will be the 4th round of the series. Rounds 1, 2 & 3 will be held at the Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex.... To help get your eye back into racing and the resurface at Broadford, we have also decided to run a Preston Members Only day on the Saturday prior to our 1st Round. We will also be holding Bracket Racing at Phillip Island over the Saturday & Sunday. As most know, all Bracket Racing events are for Preston members only. You can join now for just $40 and this will include membership for all of 2021. Join here: http://www.prestonmcc.org.au/about/info/17-2/ We want to thank the ongoing support of Shannons, who continue as naming rights sponsor in 2021. We also welcome AMX Superstores who have come onboard to support the series in 2021. Obviously with the expense of adding a Bracket Race to Phillip Island, we welcome the opportunity to discuss sponsorship with interested organisations. We are currently finalising our Supp Regs, where we will detail the member only track days and Phillip Island round format. Stay tuned for more announcements and an exciting year ahead, but makes sure you renew your membership or join the club if you want to go racing with us in 2021.
