17.01.2022 It's a near impossible task to condense more than 40 years of scientific discovery, impact and achievement into a 4 minute video, but we've tried to do just tha...t. For our existing supporters, we hope this video shows you exactly what your incredible support is enabling, and for those new to WIRF, we hope you're inspired to join us on our journey to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australian women, mothers and their babies.

16.01.2022 Recruitment for the Preterm Infant Follow-up Study (PIFS) has been progressing well during 2018. If you have provided us with an email address, you should have just received our first e-newsletter, if you haven't please get in touch so we can keep you informed. We have a new Research Coordinator of PIFS, Caitlin Gray who will be assisting the investigators, Catherine Campbell, Mary Sharp and Noel French to coordinate the study and will be a point of contact for any question...s you may have as we go through the various phases of the follow-up. We are still working hard to recruit as many participants as possible and as you can imagine this takes quite some time. Along the way we have received some lovely messages from families wanting to contribute to the research and you have told us how important this is to you. So far we have managed to recruit many families which means with your help we are hopeful we will be able to make some meaningful contributions in the area of preterm births. If you have already indicated by email or through Facebook that you and your family would like to be involved in the study but have not yet returned your consent forms, it is not too late, you can still send them through. Unfortunately we can only include families in the study if we have the formal consent returned. If you are unsure if you have returned a consent form, or would like another one sent out by email or post, please get in touch and we can arrange this for you. Also, if you have changed your contact details, please let us know so we can update them. We are progressing our study design and are working towards our submission for the first round of ethics approval early 2019, with the first phase of questionnaires expected to be delivered to families by the middle of next year. As part of our design we welcome any feedback you may have on the study through an expression of interest in our consumer reference group. If you would like to be involved in this group please let me know by the end of January 2019. We hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! We will be in contact next year to provide you with an update regarding the follow-up study. Kind regards The Preterm Infant Follow-up Study Team

05.01.2022 Our research team are busy tracking down our families so we can prepare for the next stage of the PIFS study. Keep your eyes peeled for our messages and emails over the next few weeks.

05.01.2022 Welcome to the PIFS Long-Term Young Adult Feasibility Study! We are hoping the reasons you have arrived at this page is in relation to your familys participation in the Preterm Infant Follow-up Study (PIFS) at King Edward Memorial Hospital. You might recall Dr Ronnie Hagan and Dr Noel French who originally conducted the study. The information we gathered from you then is still being used by our research team now and influences our clinical practice in the Neonatal Intensive ...Care Unit every day! We thank you for taking the time to participate in this important study. Now in 2017, we are very enthusiastic about the prospect that we might once again meet with you and your family. Our young preterm infants from this study are now young adults between 23-26 years old!! At this stage, we are just seeking some information from families about whether this long-term follow-up study is possible and how many families might be agreeable to participating in further studies with us hopefully starting in 2018. If you or your family are interested in being contacted with further information about this study, please contact Dr Catherine Campbell in any of the following ways: Phone: Neonatal Follow-up office at King Edward Memorial Hospital on 9658 1255; Email: [email protected] Facebook Page: http://fb.me/PretermInfantFollowupStudy Yours sincerely, Dr Catherine Campbell Study Coordinator, Neonatal Follow-up, KEMH
