24.01.2022 Our director George has started a fundraiser for BlazeAid to help communities rebuild after the fires. When he posted the fundraiser the first people to donate were those from near his family farm, who are in the middle of the worst drought in over 100 years. Why? Because they have all seen BlazeAid in action when the region, including George's family farm, was burnt out previously. They know how valuable it is to have the support of people from BlazeAid post fire, both to h...elp clean up the mess and to have someone to talk to. 12.01.2022 Today in the AFR it was announced that Labor (if elected) is planning on bringing in the proposed negative gearing changes 1st January 2020. These two changes are estimated to raise $2.9 billion to 2022-23, and $35.1 billion over the next decade This is the simple summary of what that will mean for you 1. Properties that are not negatively geared before this date will no longer be eligible. (Excluding new builds). This will mean that any loss you make on a property will not ...be able to be used to offset your other income and reduce tax. Instead it will be carried forwards to offset any future rental profits. 2. Properties purchased after that date will no longer get the 50% CGT discount but only a 25% discount. This is an example of what type of impact that could have Example CGT Scenario House Purchase Price $500,000 Sale Price $1,500,000 Capital Gain $1,000,000 With current 50% Discount $500,000 Would mean a tax of $235,000 With proposed 25% Discount $750,000 Would mean a tax of $352,000 Additional Capital Gains Tax would be $117,500.00
