23.01.2022 This customer recently experienced a major dust storm. But it wasn’t until later that they noticed there was problems with their water supply, as the pressure started to drop in the house. Marcel was called out to service the filtration systems and Ultraviolet steriliser. These filters had been fitted in September 2020, and had held up really well. The core of the gradient filter still looks white, indicating the water coming through to the taps was still clear of sediment.... Our Stringwound filters have a nano zinc core, which helps prevent bacteria breeding. And with a 20 to 1 Micron filtration process, they will catch the smallest of particles. These filters were specifically designed for the Australian Navy, and are exclusive to Pristine Water Systems. If you want quality water, you need the right filter for the job! We can advise what will best suit your needs.
20.01.2022 Do you have a First Flush System for your rainwater tanks? Wet weather is forecast across most of the country (can we really rely on the weather report?), and if you have a First Flush system feeding into your water tanks, you need to make sure it is clear of debris and stagnant water. This is the photo of the bottom of a first flush system that was recently cleaned out. The new owners of this property had no idea what the system was, or how to maintain. And they had been on ...the property for 4 years! You may need to divert the first flush system to clear out the stagnant water and debris that is sitting in it. Bacteria will be present, and you may find frogs/toads and other insects/animals. Proper maintenance will help alleviate these getting flushed into your tank, contaminating your water.
18.01.2022 There was a recent article in Australian papers after researchers found microplastics in packets of rice. We had written an article on how microplastics have been getting into the earth’s water systems a while back and thought this might be a good time to revisit it. You can visit this article on the link below. If you’re worried about your rice, the simple solution is to thoroughly wash it prior to cooking.... There’s a lot more to be learnt in the study of microplastics. Hopefully we will have stringent testing in the future and have better quality food (and water).
16.01.2022 To ensure your drinking water is the best it can be, we need to do more than just remove the sludge that builds up over time. It's what you can't see that can be harmful to your health! Over decades, we have developed our processes and systems to ensure your drinking water is Pristine! This includes removing the sludge that builds up on the bottom of the tank, organic material (and sometimes dead animals), and applying our professional grade Water Sanitiser.... AqueousPro is our very own water sanitiser that has been specifically designed to eradicate bacteria and viruses from your stored water. It is included by the National Health & Medical Research Council for use in Drinking Water and is listed in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) as a chemical available for use in the treatment of drinking water. It is NOT a Chlorine based chemical, but is environmentally friendly and ecologically harmless and is completely safe to drink. We are the experts in stored drinking water. If you would like to learn a little more about AqueousPro, feel free to visit our website: https://www.pristinewatersystems.com.au/aqueouspro50/
16.01.2022 Possums, snakes, birds, insects and even the family cat, are some of the vermin we've found in water tanks. Once they get in, they get trapped, and most often die in your drinking water. If not found early, this can make you ill and requires more work to get your water tank back into healthy shape. The 2 main entry ways are from your water inlet pipe (down drainpipes or from broken strainers) and your overflow pipe.... These photos are before and after of a water tank Marcel from PWS Central Highlands (Ballarat VIC) helped sort out for a client who had found possums in their tanks.
14.01.2022 It's not until you drain your rainwater tanks that you can usually tell you have problems. Dirt/sludge/organic matter ... this is where bacteria and viruses fester. You might not think there's a problem, but slightly upset stomachs or skin irritations are usually tell tale signs.... Even if the water out of your taps looks clear, these photos show where your drinking water is being stored!
11.01.2022 Water is drawn from the bottom of your water tank. This is where all the sludge and organic material builds up. And that is where bacteria breeds! Just take a look at the dirt and leaves that have built up in a few years in this tank. Now, all it takes is for bacteria to get into the water (from animal droppings, or from insects or reptiles getting into the tank), and this can make your whole household ill. Contrary to belief, you do not always need to drain the tank to then ...clean it. As you can see in this video, we’re able to remove the sludge with minimal water loss. So when your water tanks start running low, you don’t have to put up with smelly or dirty water. Give us a call and we can help you get the most out of your rainwater tanks.
10.01.2022 Here's a DIY home-made Water Tank that Cameron from PWS Fraser Coast cleaned recently. Stains on the outside wall show signs of some leaching, but after a good clean and sanitise, this tank is as good as it was when it was first built (many many years ago). DID YOU KNOW ...... We can clean water tanks with liners? Our specially designed equipment allows us to clean tanks with liners, removing sediment buildup and dirt. Liners are a great option for older tanks, extending the life of the structure.
05.01.2022 The water in this tank is full of e.Coli Some strains of e.Coli are harmless, but other strains can cause diarrhea and make you very ill. But just applying a water sanitiser to kill bacteria and viruses is not enough to ensure your drinking water is safe for consumption.... To ensure you have safe healthy drinking water, we remove sludge and organic material before we sanitise. Otherwise, bacteria will hide in and around the organic matter, only to continue making you ill. Our water sanitiser, AqueousPro, is a foodgrade sanitiser. The ingredients are included by the National Health & Medical Research Council for use in Drinking Water and is listed in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. So if you or anyone in your household regularly complain about an upset stomach, then it's a high probability it is coming from your water tanks.
