24.01.2022 Holden HZ Sandman Ute. A lovely example of a rare classic GM. Restored to amazing factory spec. Having being re sprayed years ago, it had never been polished, so there was plenty of potential to bring out the best from completing the cutting, refining and finishing to a high level. Over 3 days the paint was corrected and ceramic coated to bring out a stunning shine and also present a flawless finish that looks amazing in the sun, on those rare days it gets out for a Sunday ...drive. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

21.01.2022 An interesting thing to consider for those buying a car, new or second hand. While most will base their decisions on brand, or value for money, its important to remember that a car's factory paint quality can also differ greatly with different manufacturers. While current new and newer cars have paint that is getting thinner and thinner, to save production costs, there are some things to remember. European cars will generally have thicker, and harder paint, which means there ...will be more paint to polish, and it will be more resistant to swirling, as long as its maintained correctly. Holden and Fords are usually in the middle with a bit less paint than the Euro's, and also slightly softer too. The Japanese cars will have the thinnest paint, and the hardness being medium to soft. The exceptions will be solid/jett black paint across all manufacturers are also softer and more easily scratched. Some things to consider when purchasing a new car. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

20.01.2022 1954 Austin Healey 100-4. Machine polish and ceramic coating for this stunning piece of automotive art. Not only is this one of the cleanest track cars I have seen, it is also street registered and also puts down some of the best lap times seen in Australia at various tracks for a Healey. One super impressive car. 0410 574 682... [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au See more

15.01.2022 For those using grit guards in their wash buckets, here are a fantastic new development with them to even further reduce swirling your paint during the wash process.

15.01.2022 Clean wheels really take a good wash to a great wash level. Another area on the car close to the wheels, the wheel arches, often get overlooked. Road grime, traffic film, mud, and dirt get flicked up by your tyres and these areas gather lots of muck over time.... Some vehicles have a fabric lining on the rear, and also sometimes front wheel arches too. Aiming your high pressure water up into these areas does a great job of cleaning these areas. You'll be amazed on the amount of dirt that drops out, especially it's been a while. Spraying some APC (All Purpose Cleaner) into the wheel arches breaks down the build up and aids the process. A brush with bristles and a handle is really handy for stubborn areas. The Vikan Wheel Arch Brush is great for this. Available from www.waxit.com.au Other great wheel and wheel arch brushes available from www.detailcentral.com.au Shine Supply Solution is a great APC for cleaning these areas. Also is Poorboys APC. Available from www.waxit.com.au Clean wheel arches really complete a great wash, you don't always need to do them every wash, but at least once in a while is recommended. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

13.01.2022 Dead bugs on your front bumper. Something we often get asked about. Whats the best way to clean them? Like bird droppings, dead bugs, which often gather on the front bumper/lower bonnet area/side mirrors of your car after country driving in warmer weather, can leave permanent stains in your paintwork if left for too long. It's best to get to them within the first 24-48 hours, before they dry up and start to bake and etch into the paint. ... If you don't have time to wash the whole car, pulling in to the nearest self serve car wash and using the pressure rinse to blast them off the front bumper is good to do, although try not to rinse the rest of the car, as its always best to use buckets, soap and safe wash media for best wash practices. There are some great specialty products for removing bugs. CarPro Bug Out and Shine Supply Bug Off are two great ones. Available from www.waxit.com.au Techniques are, first rinse off loose bugs with pressure washer, then spray bug remover product, let it sit for 30 sec -2 min, then high pressure rinse and most should clean off. For stubborn spots, use a clean, damp microfibre cloth and gently rub area until the leftover bugs are gone. Use a little product if you need to. Rinse, wash and dry affected area/panels, or wash the rest of the car if you choose to, and call it a day. Any questions or queries just drop us a line. Take care everyone. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

10.01.2022 Here's a great little trick that makes washing your car more hassle free! Walking around the car with the hose getting stuck under tyres can be really annoying when washing. Now there is a solution. Detail Guardz Hose Guides are your answer. These little plastic guides slip under the tyres and prevent the hose from jamming and getting stuck as you walk around the car. ... Its a little touch that makes the car pampering experience just that little bit nicer! Detail Guardz Hose Guide Available from www.waxit.com.au 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

09.01.2022 This one is a great trade secret and I'm more than happy to share. Areas on the car such as around emblems and badges, tend to get a grime build up over time. This build up can be extremely difficult to remove. Most APC's (All Purpose Cleaners) do an ok job, but can require a few attempts for a not quite perfect result.... Kamikaze Silica Scale Remover is one such wonder product. It's acid based, but safe when used correctly. It literally melts away the build up, usually in a matter of seconds. A very fine artist or touch up brush works great to agitate and clean. A toothbrush will also work for stubborn areas, but perhaps avoid the toothbrush on black paint. Best to rinse away immediately and wet the general surrounding areas to avoid the product leaving stains. Also wear gloves for skin protection too. This product works brilliant for removing old dried up polishing residue also. 07.01.2022 Holden HX GTS Monaro. A very much original condition Aussie classic. With scratches and paint chips abundant, our goal was to bring some clarity and extra shine to the paint, while adding some protection too. The plan was to remove minimal paint, just to preserve it while its sits in storage. Two stage machine polish performed and a carnauba wax chosen to really make the colour pop.... Also door jambs cleaned and hand polished for a fresh look. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

05.01.2022 Here we will explain the 3 types/levels of paint protection offered as part of our machine polishing and paint correction packages. 1. Wax 2. Sealant 3. Ceramic coating. ... Wax is generally carnauba based, is mostly natural found in a native Brazillian palm tree. It is known for its brilliant shine, a very unique look. But protection wise it breaks down easily and needs to be re applied more often on daily driven cars. Suited mostly for weekend driven cars. Sealants are in short synthetically engineered versions of a wax, made to be a bit more durable that a wax, and also contain a small percentage of ceramic coating ingredients, that gives an extremely glossy shine, similar to a coating, usually with fantastic water beading properties too. Ceramic coatings were developed as an alternative to waxes and sealants, to provide much more durable protection that doesn't need to be re applied as often, and while being a much thicker and harder layer of protection, also provides some swirl resistance compared to waxes and sealants. Gloss and shine is on another level again, and so is water beading. Estimated durability with proper care : Wax : 3 months Sealants : 3-6 months Ceramic coatings : 2-4 years Hope this explains a few things about the different types of protection options. They all have their pro's and cons, and this is why we like to understand every clients different needs and wants/how their vehicle will be used so we can suggest the best options for you. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

04.01.2022 BMW 328 M Sport, machine polished and ceramic coated. Looking very fresh again. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

03.01.2022 1965 Ford Mustang. We spent two days restoring this beauty to the best condition it's ever been in. It had been re-sprayed around 20 years ago, and the paint had held up quite well. Although upon inspection I knew it could be so much better. After a thorough wash and decontamination, with the clay bar revealing plenty of impurities in the pores on the paint. ... A 2 stage machine polish was carried out, removing the swirls and getting rid of the dryness in the finish, revealing a deep rich finish. The cutting stage was completed with the rotary polisher as this particular paint system responds beautifully to the action of that machine, really bringing out the most eye catching gloss and clarity in the paint. Topped off with Polish Angel High Gloss spray coating/sealant. This particular product was chosen for the final touch as it adds a brilliant richness to the look of the paint. Supercharger and a few other chrome bits were hand polished to complete the package. A really sensational turnaround unfortunately no before pics as time was limited. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

03.01.2022 What things will help the durability of a ceramic coating? What can reduce the life span of a ceramic coating? As mentioned before, regular washing your vehicle with foam rinsing, 2 buckets, quality microfibre wash mitts and microfibre drying towels is best practice, and will benefit the coating's durability.... Using a ceramic based spray sealant/topper periodically will also increase the life span of a coating. This keeps the water beading strong and provides another sacrificial layer that prevents impurities from bonding to the ceramic coating. Garaging a vehicle helps the coating last and perform better. Things that reduce its durability are abrasion. When a vehicle is very dirty and you don't foam rinse the vehicle, you are rubbing rough particles along the paint surface, which will over time break the coating down quicker, along with putting swirls in the coating. When you use a cheap foam sponge, especially one that is worn, dirty or has been dropped on the ground, this wash media will be much more abrasive than a high quality microfibre mitt. Using too little soap, providing less lubrication is also no good. Too much soap is never a bad thing. Parking outside in Industrial areas will also effect the performance of a coating, as there will be more industrial fallout and airborne contaminants present. This will more so affect the water behaviour, and to a lesser extent break down the layer of protection. Doing a yearly decon wash can address this issue. Parking at train stations or near tram tracks can also have an impact on a coatings performance, due to the fallout from the machinery on the tracks and landing on nearby vehicles. When the driving conditions the vehicle is exposed to can make a coating work harder, remember it's just a sacrificial layer, not a magical force field, it's best to wash the vehicle more regularly. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

02.01.2022 A beautiful 1934 Ford Coupe from a few years back. Due to working with chemicals and products on a daily basis, it has become habit now with us when working to wear a mask, gloves and eye protection as often as possible, for health and safety reasons. It's the little things done often over time that have the biggest impact.... For everyone else, when washing and maintaining their own cars, we definitely recommend using gloves, a suitable mask and safety googles or eye protection where ever possible. Wheel cleaners, APC's, acid cleaners, iron removers are all washing and detailing products that are potentially harmful to breathe in or get on your skin. Best to look after our health for the long term. An important thing to consider when you wash your pride and joy. 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au

01.01.2022 "How do I keep my wheels clean?" is a commonly asked question. Having a wheel specific ceramic coating applied definitely helps, but there is a great low cost option that also works quite well. After you have cleaned your wheels when you wash your vehicle, using a spray sealant for paint, works great on wheels too. Its adds a barrier between the wheel and the brake dust that accumulates. Making it stick a little less and a bit easier to clean when wash time arrives. ... Its basically a wax for your wheels. Its very easy. When you have cleaned your wheels, and rinsed off the soap, give the wheel a few sprays to cover it lightly, then wipe product off with a separate microfibre cloth. Doing this after every wash will make wheels easier to wash and keep them a little cleaner in between washes. CarPro Reload is a great low cost option. www.waxit.com.au Polish Angel Super Sport is another great product, which is a wheel specific sealant. www.waxit.com.au 0410 574 682 [email protected] www.prodetail.com.au
