25.01.2022 With the South Coast of Sydney burning we’ve got a massive event planned by @femaletradie to support the efforts to eliminate the fires and we hope as many Inner Westies and beyond join us.

21.01.2022 So proud of out therapy dog - Maddie!

13.01.2022 To give back to our community and keep everyone informed and safe regarding the hysteria about the Lepto outbreak in Surry Hills/Darlinghurst area, we’ve put out this information and are offering no cost Leptospirosis Risk Assessment Consults and no cost vaccinations if indicated.

13.01.2022 Wondering about the cat traps around the Sydney Park area, this is why, there's nothing to be alarmed about and please don't touch them or tamper with them... W...e have been alerted to a number of kittens being found in the carpark at Sydney Park and yeserday, we've been informed by our community of sightings of the mother has also been spotted in a very poorly condition We've starting the process of trapping the creatures to bring them back to Southern Cross Vet for examination We will scan their microchips to see if they are lost, vet check them, administer flea control medication and blood test them to make sure they don't have feline AIDS. We will also be vaccinating them. We can't always take strays in, but when we do have capacity, like now, we love to accommodate and rehabilitate All of us at the clinic appreciate our role as healers in the local community and it never stops at just traditional 'client-owned' pets like yours - since we started in 2012, we never say no to homeless peoples pets through our organisation Project HoPe that we founded to ensure that the companions of the homeless are afforded the same quality healthcare we all want for our family. www.southerncrossvet.com.au

11.01.2022 We don’t want any more lives lost in the and don’t want to see anyone NOT leave their at-risk as they have pets they can’t possibly abandon to burn. We’ve g...ot a big announcement, as we stand with all our community affected by the that should not be happening. We’ve been providing FREE veterinary attention and rehab to companion animals who have suffered burns, anxiety related conditions or anything else caused by the bushfires. So many animals in the fire zones also are not microchipped - so we are inviting the community in the fire affected regions of our state to come in for free microchipping so that if the worst happens and they are separated, once the disaster is finally over, this technology will help families to be reunited with their lost pet. We realise that this is a difficult ask for people on the South Coast, Mountains and beyond to visit the City, so when the devastation is over, we will organise a drive down to the communities who have suffered and will microchip as many pets there as we can. We’d like to remind everyone that our three air-conditioned, purified locations have been made ‘safe spaces’ for any of the pets of those who have had to flee their homes. We are prepared to house pets owned by fire affected families in our corridors, offices, operating rooms and radiology spaces. St Peters Bellevue Hill Surry Hills/Redfern Our Surry Hills/Redfern premises on Cleveland St have a modest, but comfortable + safe residence occupying the entire first floor of the hospital. There is a kitchen, bathroom, shower facilities and laundry. We are opening this up and are inviting families and individuals affected by the devastation with no where else to escape to, to apply to live there, in safety with their pets, until it is safe to return to their homes or local community. It’s the least we can do for our community that is in crisis at the moment. We’re humbled by all the pilots of the new water bombing , reservists of the @AustralianDefenceForce being called to help evacuate and all the community groups coming together. Email our CEO directly - [email protected] if you know of anyone who would require urgent crisis accomodation for their family and pets at the clinic. To register for microchipping and veterinary assistance once it is safe for us to prepare a day trip to the affected areas email [email protected] While we have not had time to update very regularly, you can read more about our chairty that looks after the pets of the homeless also at this time Project HoPe,
