22.01.2022 Lesane Moyle, known to his friends and family as Jimi is this years Project Kate Child. Lesane is a 6 year old young child from Australind (10KM’s North of Bunbury) WA. This is his story. In November 2013 Lesane 'Jimi' Moyle was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, brain cancer. Surgeons worked for 8 hours to remove the tumor but were unable to remove a small portion that was attached to his brain stem. Lesane had to learn to walk, talk and even swallow again. Two days before Ch...ristmas he endured a second surgery to remove another piece of tumour that had been missed. This surgery was complicated and as a result Lesane was left with some brain damage along with having to re-learn his basic functions all over again. Since then he has endured 6 weeks of radiation & chemotherapy and another 6 cycles of chemotherapy as well as numerous invasive procedures. A recent MRI showed that the tumor has spread meaning treatment to date has been unsuccessful. Lesane has now been enrolled into a clinical trial with hopes the new chemotherapy drugs will help slow down the tumours progress. The surgeries left Lesane with weakness in his eye muscles causing them to wander and also left him with weakness down his entire right side meaning he has to work that much harder to do simple things. Not letting it hold him back he's taught himself to do things with his left hand including writing, throwing and even using an Xbox controller. It has almost being a year since the young champion was diagnosed, and on a personal level on behalf of the Project Kate Committee, we would like to say that the Moyel family have to be one of the strongest families we have ever met. His parents Daniel and Jennie are such inspirational people and we wish them all the best. Get ready for PK2014 #projectkate2014
