25.01.2022 PACT is still here supporting the children and families that have been victims of crime and are going through the judicial processes in the pursuit of justice. To help protect our PACT family and the wider community by "flattening the curve", we are not undertaking the face-to-face activities at the moment but we're definitely offering our other methods of support at this difficult time. We haven't gone away, we're here to provide support and we encourage you to pick up the phone if you'd like any more information, have any questions or want to better understand what will happen in the coming months. These challenging times can be scary...but as Queenslanders, we'll pull together and show the very best of humanity as we continue caring and supporting each other in times of adversity. From all at PACT.

25.01.2022 This heartwarming gift was received by one of our volunteers who supported a teenage victim through the long justice journey, from the arrest of his abuser to sentencing. Our volunteer said through the long court process she saw the "shy nervous teenager" grow into a "young man making his own way" and she is so proud of him. While our volunteers expect nothing in return for their support of child victims throughout the court process, a thank you never goes unappreciated.

24.01.2022 It's National NAIDOC Week! #naidoc2020 celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Here at PACT we want to acknowledge our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Witness Support Volunteers who work tirelessly to help child victims of, and witnesses to, crime.

24.01.2022 A big win for PACT! Thanks to a large donation from the Donald and Joan Wilson Foundation, PACT is that much closer to our goal of having the best possible educational resources available for the child victims we support. This is the fourth year the Donald and Joan Wilson Foundation have donated a significant amount of money to PACT towards furthering our educational resources for child victims as well as volunteer training and development. PACT’s new adult and child court books are a direct result of the Wilson Foundation’s 2020 donation, along with our updated, in-depth volunteer training materials to ensure our volunteers have the right knowledge and support to empower children through their legal journey. We’re so incredibly grateful for their support!

23.01.2022 Congratulations to Pauline Moles who was named PACT's Volunteer of the Year for 2018 at last nights Annual General Meeting. 23.01.2022 Thank you to the lovely community member whom, after working with a child and carer who had been supported by a PACT volunteer; decided to make these beautiful tactile and colourful teddy bears and blankies for the kids we support.

18.01.2022 What is the proven recurring formula for kids who do well after trauma? They have at least 1 supportive person in their life! If you have 3 minutes, watch former foster child Josh Shipp speak to the power of 1 caring adult.

18.01.2022 PACT was most grateful to receive a $10 000 donation from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia at our Brisbane Volunteer Christmas Function last week. Thank you to Brad and the staff at the CBA George Street for your very generous donation.

18.01.2022 What a week! The world may feel crazier than usual for many of us right now, so this weekend, relax, breathe and - most importantly - find someone you care about and show them how much you care. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend

17.01.2022 While we don't get to see our PACT Child Witness Support Volunteers in the regional areas quite as much as those closer to Brisbane, we are thrilled when we get the chance to visit and say thank you in person. A big thank you today goes to our volunteers in Rockhampton, Townsville, Mackay and Cairns. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and gratitude for everything you do for the families PACT serves.

17.01.2022 Today is International Volunteer Manager Day! And while globally we recognise the invaluable contribution of volunteers (& rightly so!!), behind these volunteers lies an equally dedicated group who are responsible for the coordination, support, training, administration and recruitment of the world’s volunteers. For PACT, we've been fortunate to have some of the best Volunteer Coordinators any non-profit could ask for, including our current coordinator - the wonderful Tania Taylor! Happy International Volunteer Manager Day to Tania and all the professionals working in this arena.

15.01.2022 PACT echos our Patron, Kay McGrath's words below and congratulates Bruce, Denise and all at Daniel Morcombe Foundation for their incredible contribution to child protection across Australia. 14.01.2022 PACT hosted a Day for Daniel morning tea to raise funds and awareness for our friends at the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Thanks sincerely to all who participated and for their generous donations. We know the funds raised will be put to good use.

14.01.2022 It is so pleasing to note the Daniel Morcombe Foundation comments in the post below. PACT too believes that education is vitally important to better protect Queensland's vulnerable children and young people. PACT would like to acknowledge the commitment of the Queensland Government to address this issue by enacting legislation to better monitor convicted child sexual offenders upon their release from custody. The Queensland Police Service should be commended for their ef...forts to protect vulnerable children through the recent amendments to the Child Protection Offender Reporting (CPOR) Act 2004. It is very easy to lay blame, rather than to recognise the significant reforms that have occurred over many years, which have resulted in children being better protected. Jo Bryant PACT CEO

14.01.2022 F Magazine have acknowledged the Child Protection Week Awards received by Kay, Jo and Jan. Here is the link to the article. http://f-magazine.online/advocates-honoured/

12.01.2022 Did you know PACT is the only organisation in QLD specifically working to support children and young people through the court process? Our Child Witness Support Program helps more than 1,800 children each year as they navigate stressful legal proceedings, either as victims of, or witnesses to, a crime.

12.01.2022 PACT would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year. Please note our office in Brisbane will be closed from 2pm Friday 21 December and reopen on Wednesday 2 January.

11.01.2022 PACT Volunteer and Child Protection Week Award recipient Jan Brown was live on ABC radio this morning. Wonderful interview and what an great ambassador for PACT.

11.01.2022 As a PACT volunteer, it's nice to know that the work to support a child and her carer through a court process has made a difference. An example of some kind words recently shared with one of our volunteers. Thank you for your kind words and for your support over the last few weeks and helping to ease this stressful time for our family."

11.01.2022 What a year it's been! For PACT Child Witness Support Volunteers, its been a year of adapting and doing the best they can to serve the families who rely on us for court support in constantly changing - and challenging - circumstances. This Christmas celebration for PACT volunteers in the greater Brisbane area, and the wonderful Victim Liaison Officers and Police Liaison Officers who work alongside us, felt like an appropriate way (albeit a small one) to say thank you. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas, and all our thanks for the incredibly important work you do.

11.01.2022 We're incredibly honored, humbled and excited to have been nominated in three categories - Volunteer of the Year, Volunteer Impact Award and Excellence in Volunteer Management - at the Volunteering Queensland Awards 2021 which our team attended today at the Brisbane City Hall. A huge congratulations to the entire team and especially our volunteer coordinator Tania Taylor who won in the Excellence in Volunteer Management category!!! Her win is a reflection of not only her hard work but also that of all our volunteers across Queensland. The awards ceremony was an incredible reminder of the impact made by volunteers working across all areas of social justice, animal welfare and humanitarian causes across the State. You can watch Tania's acceptance speech here: https://youtu.be/d7AxIPgEue8

10.01.2022 World Children's Day is acknowledged today. It was established by the United Nations to honour the 1959 adoption of the Declaration on the Rights of the Child. As the most widely ratified international human rights treaty in history, the Convention sets out the rights of children, such as the right to healthcare, education, clean water, protection from violence and the right to have their say in decisions that affect them. At PACT, our focus is supporting the rights of children to be heard in court, without fear or compromise. We support child witnesses to tell their truth & find their voice, which is a fundamental right denied to many children around the world. At PACT, we are ensuring the voices of children are heard and acknowledged in the justice system - today on World Children's Day, and every day.

10.01.2022 PACT would like to congratulate Pat Stephens on winning the "Spirit of Ipswich Award" at the Ipswich Australia Day Awards on Sunday. 07.01.2022 Our thanks to David Mackie, the Director-General, Department of Justice and Attorney-General, for taking time out to meet with our volunteers in Townsville. We spoke about our work supporting child witnesses and how we can further reduce the trauma of giving evidence in court. We are very grateful for Davids time and the ongoing support of the Queensland Government. #childprotectionweek #pact

05.01.2022 How do you put into words the emotional relief a child feels when a caring someone helps de-mystify the justice journey in a way they can understand? Can you imagine the long-term imPACT on a child when stress evolves into anxiety, aggression, withdrawal, fear, anger, depression, sleeplessness and nightmares? Imagine if these affects can be replaced by feelings of being cared for, listened to, believed, less burdened, less alone, and important enough to have a Child Witness Support Volunteer by their side? If we’re lucky, we can only imagine what it would be like for child victims of, or witnesses to, crime to undergo the court process. It’s for these children PACT exists.

04.01.2022 Yesterday we had the privilege of seeing many of our Child Witness Support Volunteers from the greater Brisbane area gathered for a training day. These men and women really are the cream of the volunteering crop! They have bucket loads of dedication to meet the emotional and time-heavy demands of the role and are on the front line of child protection each day. A highlight of the day was hearing from former Assistant Commissioner David Jefferies who was there from the very beginning of PACT, and seeing how we've evolved over the years (since 1985) to give vulnerable children a voice. What an honour to be in the same room with so many incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to shaping a better world.

04.01.2022 PACT Fact File: In the 2019-2020 financial year, PACT volunteers situated in SEQ QLD and regional centres through QLD, drove a total of 40,990 kms to support QLD children (and their families) as they prepared to give their evidence in court.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to Maureen, one of longest serving Volunteers, for being recognised as a Finalist at the Queensland Volunteering Awards today. Maureen has been with PACT since 2003 and supported over 500 children and young people through the criminal Court process. Thank you Maureen for your dedication and passion.
