24.01.2022 Since yesterday was cancelled in honour of Paulo, a couple of us got to go to a stage and watch some racing! Also we did a bit of dune hopping in the ford Raptor. Awesome!

24.01.2022 Well, 2020 Dakar done and dusted! Congratulations Ben Young You put in an Awesome effort right to the finish line! It has been an absolute pleasure working with you Mate!

22.01.2022 First up Id just like to say that this is the absolute last resort - cutting the forward linkage bolt to remove... There was just no other option! This is what 10,000km of sand, salt and mud and lack of grease and maintenance does! I ordered all the parts today, but I couldnt believe that its going to cost $93 just for that bolt I cut out! Crazy! So please, let me check and re-grease your linkage before it gets to this!... Oh, 2016 FE501 See more

20.01.2022 Day 3, nasty crash for one of our riders #36 A bit of bark off, helmet distroyed, just made it back. Lucky he was cleared to ride by the medical team. Was a big night rebuilding his bike, all hands on deck. Got to bed at 3am. Up at 5, on the road by 6...

19.01.2022 Hows this? Free advertising on the Dakar! Ive hit the big time now! About to head off to scrutineering...

18.01.2022 Very sad day today. Paulo Conalves has died on the stage after a nasty crash. A veteran of the sport competing in his 13th Dakar. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

18.01.2022 I love it when people bring me unusual things to repair! Here we have a 1999 ATK 605cc Rotax. Big chunky donk! Broke the cam belt and bent the exhaust valves... 2 unusual things unique to this engine: *belt driven camshaft *doesnt run a head gasket - like a Rolls Royce... *kickstarter and gear lever share the same outlet - kick start on the outer shaft and gear lever on the inner. (KTM used to do the same, pre 98 they were Rotax powered also) See more

13.01.2022 Bikes, bike shops and bike owners still continue to surprise me at times! This carby is of a 2005 WR450F. A customer has just bought it and wants me to go over it and check why it keeps stalling and running very rough off the bottom. I pulled the carby down and couldnt believe what I saw! It still had the standard ADR needle in it and a blanking plug on the pilot adjusting screw! ... So, its whole life its been running crap and no one has ever bothered to tune it. It surprises me that the bike shop which it was bought from never re-jetted and sorted it out from the beginning! Well, after 14 odd years of this bike running sub standard, its finally going to get the Protune treatment! - you can see the ADR needle and the one that Im fitting in it with 7clip positions - Oh yeah, intake valve were on the tight side. This bike has probably my done around at least 6,000km though... See more

09.01.2022 I am super excited to announce that Ill be swinging Spanners for my Mate Ben Young at the 2020 Dakar in Saudi. Woohoo. Cant wait! Hell be riding his KTM 450 rally bike that he finished Dakar on last year. Its been 10 years since my last Dakar in South America. I never thought Id be going again, but its all happening....!

09.01.2022 I just love new bikes, especially new models! Here we have a 2020 450exc. Straight off the showroom floor to get the Protune touch...and grease where needed of course! Yep, a good idea if your going to keep you bike. A good pre-delivery is a good investment on any bike to make sure it performs as it should for many many years of riding and abuse! Enjoy your new bike Chris!

08.01.2022 It’s nearly Dakar time again!

08.01.2022 DAKAR 2020 - Stage 7 - Australian results An extremely trying day for all involved in Dakar 2020, many of Australias riders had to pass the scene of Paulo... Goncalves accident, Toby Price involved in assisting the fallen Portuguese rider. With this in mind all continued and finished the stage, improving on their overall results. After corrected stage timings, to allow for those who assisted Goncalves, Price was placed in 7th just 8 minutes behind the stage victor. Rodney Faggotter, Yamaha, was less than 30 minutes behind his fellow Australian. His 29th position enough to stay in touch with the top ten outright. The three other Australians continue to climb the overall positions with good results yet none were in a celebratory mood. "Very sad news," a sombre Ben Young stated. "He was a true legend of the sport and will be deeply missed." Price echoed Youngs sentiments, "Worst day for the rally sport ... this one hurts and is tough to swallow." Trevor Wilson (Husqvarna) admitted that it was only just starting to sink in, hours after the stage had finished, "Speedy was one of the most joyful genuine riders youll ever meet, always smiling and an incredible rider." In consultation with riders, Dakar organisers have decided to cancel tomorrows stage out of respect for Goncalves a move perhaps best summed up by Faggotter. "Stage 8 cancelled tomorrow for rider number 8." OVERALL STANDINGS 1. Ricky Brabec (USA) Honda 28:25:01 4. Toby Price (AUS) KTM +00:28:44 13. Rodney Faggotter (AUS) Yamaha +02:19:05 63. 08.01.2022 Most of my farm service work can be carried out on-site. But sometimes I just need to take it back to the workshop... Thats the beauty of having a vehicle that can accommodate an ATV and half my workshop!

06.01.2022 Day 1 done. Everyone is traveling well....

05.01.2022 Have a listen to This Italian stallion! I love this! Seeing the exposed overhead cam belt drives and dry clutch with the signature rattle! Sounds like excessive valve clearances doesnt it?... Nope... 2009 model with only 4,000km on it. My customer has just purchased it. 2009 1100s Hypermotard. Shes got some serious grunt too! Woohoo! 04.01.2022 I thought Id post a few photos of the nuts and bolts of the bike. Fuel pump filters, being replaced, Exterior oil filter, much bigger than the EXC. Its the same filter as the 1290 adventure. We carry a spare clutch plate. Big oil cooler mounted above the radiator. ... Tanks are mounted the same as the 950/990. Huge carbon fibre bash plate that holds around 4litres if water.... The bike holds 1.4L of oil. This beast also holds 32L of fuel! I can strip this bike down as you see it in less than 2 minutes! (Front fuel tanks and bash plate) This is one of the reasons KTM rally bikes are so far in front of the others - photo of the pre highlighted roadbook. See more

04.01.2022 After a days riding in the Dubai dunes, maintenance time. Thanks to Crazy Camel racing for an experience Ill never forget. (Day 1 of 3)

03.01.2022 Day 2 went well. He had a little moment and whacked his face in the roadbook. I thought I would check his clutch and luckily I did. The steel plates were blue! I got to see him off on the 3rd day special which was nice! 500m from the biv. Easy day for the assistance teams as we are staying in Neom for 2 nights. ... Now, I must change some mooses and straighten some dented front rims! See more
