25.01.2022 No action. On anything.

19.01.2022 That nice Mr Stokes is cooking our kids. Pittwater Liberal voters are perhaps unaware that since our NSW representative, the Planning Minister, established the Independent Planning Commission, his DPIE has recommended 11 major fossil fuel projects for approval, since March 2018. IPC approval of the Narrabri gas project, despite massive community opposition and scientific warnings, was the last straw for many people, who now believe the IPC is anything but independent. Fearing a backlash perhaps, the IPC did not give the go-ahead to the Dendrobium expansion under Sydney's water catchment. Phew. Join us on Friday mornings between 7-8.30 am on the corner of Mona Vale and Barrenjoey Rds if you'd like to help remind Liberal voters that they are complicit.

17.01.2022 We say we love koalas but we don't care enough to protect them. Joined a sombre funeral march to parliament house today as mourners lamented the NSW govt's decision to put the interests of Lendlease ahead of koala survival. Their developer mate's housing project at Campbelltown is destroying and fragmenting the remaining habitat of Sydney's only disease free koalas. Next #KoalaDayofAction is on March 21st at 11am in Hyde Park - hosted by XR and Greens MP Cate Faehrmann.

16.01.2022 The Reserve Bank knows it, APRA (regulatory body)knows it, China Japan and Korea know it, superfunds are now seeing it - yet #auspol remains blind. #ClimateChangeIsReal and has major financial implications. The Lib/Lab supposed 'gas-led recovery' looking increasingly hollow.

15.01.2022 The Centre for Public Integrity has been digging into that delightful Christian Porter’s Commonwealth Integrity Commission legislation. Buried deep is this provision which bans any opinion or finding about corrupt conduct and any form of criticism of parliamentarians or staffers. This bill is designed to conceal, not reveal corruption.

13.01.2022 Our school librarians were a massive help - sending over boxes of curated books to the art dept to support class research and assignments. A knowledge bank of available resources when teaching out of your subject area - Personal Development! Rescued us from outdoor sport in wet weather with a good film. Please sign the petition to keep them in our schools.

13.01.2022 Planning Minister Stokes has been captured by the private transport lobbyists. The northern beaches tunnel plans involve 2000 trees being cut down along Wakehurst Parkway and over 12 hectares of bushland demolished. Other alternatives to the destruction of Garigal National Park included light rail - but no comparative cost benefit analysis was conducted! So much bigger than the deforestation of Warringah Rd and the hospital grounds at Frenchs Forest. Once it’s gone it’s gon...e forever - for the native animals that call it home too. Please have your say and make your opinion heard by emailing the planning department - refer to their web page. Submissions close 1st March (a short 2 weeks away) The site is quite intricate and difficult to navigate. The EIS documents found here https://caportal.com.au/rms/bl/documents document the impacts: Chapter 19 - Biodiversity Appendix S - Biodiversity Development Assessment Report and the link for submissions is: https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major.../project/10456 To make a submission - You will need to register with TfNSW (what a pain!) and make sure that you use the Object or Support section. Please don't use the Comment section if you don’t support the project as it is in its entirety. There is also a community run seminar tonight - Monday 15th at 6pm: https://tinyurl.com/BeachesLinkWebinar Also - this 4 minute video - which is made by the save Manly Dam group gives a heads up as to their concerns: https://animoto.com/play/1I5rvxNZ3wd3NFPVfn7DqA See more

12.01.2022 Koala found at base of tree in northern NSW. This entire forest is slated for logging. The adjacent forest has already been clear felled. Gladys and the Libs voted for the Nationals Local Land Services Amendment Bill in the lower house. We are now depending on Catherine Cusack MLC to cross the floor. Cate Faehrmann posted this update - "Koala-killing bill on for Thurs but Govt may not have the numbers. Nats don’t want any pesky environmental laws for rural lands & this was the bill that removed them. @GladysB this isn’t a compromise. You’re sacrificing our koalas to settle your wars." Keep up the pressure folks - call Stokes, Kean etc

10.01.2022 The truth tellers get prosecuted and not the criminals. Embarrassing the government is viewed as 'terrorism' with Attorney General Porter using National Security Information orders inappropriately to persecute whistleblowers. #DavidMcBride #WitnessK #BernardCollaery

09.01.2022 Morrison out of sight, avoiding strong calls for a Royal Commission into #Robodebt. A catastrophic, politically driven, bureaucratic nightmare. Taxpayers are footing the bill for senior cabinet ministers, who are being let off the hook for the misery they inflicted and the massive compensation cost - while taking no responsibility. https://www.canberratimes.com.au//robodebt-masters-should/

08.01.2022 Mining the poor. Overwhelming expert evidence is against the Cashless Welfare Debit Card (CDC) including individuals with lived experience, independent academic experts, peak bodies, service providers, Aboriginal organisations, volunteer activists and govt commissions. All ignored and dismissed. The underlying fallacy of the CDC is the Policy Problem (‘welfare dependency’ causing social harm) does not exist, and the Policy Solution (CDC reducing social harm) does not work. *... How can CDC create jobs for unemployed where jobs don’t exist? It's not an employment program. * How can CDC treat drug, gambling or alcohol problems? It's not a treatment program. * How can CDC teach budgeting skills when it removes agency? It's not financial counselling. According to the government’s own reports the Cashless Debit Card (CDC) is 1. Ineffective, 2. Expensive, 3. Harmful, 4. Unsupported, 5. Discriminatory and 6. Paternalistic. It's part of the govt agenda to shame and stigmatize people accessing social security. Basically the CDC is a triumph of ideology. Now Twiggy Forrest's Minderoo Foundation wants the government to consider a national roll out of the CDC for youth allowance recipients. How can government continue to get away with justifying CDC as a 'financial literacy tool' when payments are so low, even the experts are saying there is no point planning a budget? We know billionaire Andrew Twiggy Forrest essentially created the cashless debit card rollout. But evidence before a senate review of a bill to make it permanent, reveals he is still in control of policy. The working group with major banks was all him. Democracy down the gurgler. See more

07.01.2022 Jason knows a lot more about entrenched inequality than socialism. "Entrenched inequality is gifting Murdoch $10mill. Entrenched inequality is spending $250 mill on a govt plane but not waterbombers. Entrenched inequality is govt pay rises whilst cutting job seeker. Entrenched inequality is taking no action against an male MP whilst staffer gets ousted."... Addressing the social housing shortage while using the building as stimulus in a recession is exactly what we should be doing. A lot more helpful than his government's insane "gas led recovery." 06.01.2022 This Saturday morning come and join us and over 80 community groups standing up against this insane gas-led extinction project - at the 'Protect Our Future, Not Gas' national day of action. We'll be outside Planning Minister Stokes office in Mona Vale between 9-12 am. Like Stokes, Sussan Ley has just given federal approval for the 850 gas wells Santos will be drilling in the Pilliga forest near Narrabri, at risk of puncturing the Great Artesian Basin, increasing warming, fires and extinction. Find out about actions online, or to register yours here - https://www.facebook.com/events/788619728597148

02.01.2022 DPIE Water is about to grant more than $2B in compensatable and tradable Flood Plain Harvesting licences - but their data on how much water is being taken is flawed and they have no way of measuring how much water will be returned to the river This will be catastrophic for the Murray Darling Basin - a terribly degraded landscape already as a consequence of ruthless industrial scale farming. Maryanne Slattery predicts "it’s going to be a shitshow. In fairness the Nationa...l Party should be removed from the water portfolio - because it's been a shitshow for decades. Please read the article and/or click below to oppose this enviro nightmare . https://bit.ly/3d7IEP3 See more
