19.01.2022 As you know cruises have been suspended until it is deemed appropriate to operate once again. In the mean time the Decoy Crew will eat porridge, maintain the vessel, and wait. As we do so we are reflecting a little bit about the short season that was and have made a little compilation of some some of the Sunday cruises for 2020. Thanks to the many many talent bands and dancers we have had the pleasure of having on-board so far this year. Thanks also to the bar staff, chefs, engineers and skippers and also to the many skilled volunteers that keep this special venue going. Fingers crossed we can make it to the other side.

The Swan River Ramblers draw thier repertoire from a number of styles including trad, swing, blues, new orleans and gypsy, to name a few. You can expect to hear music from greats such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Sidney Bechet and George Gershwin as well an eclectic mix of contemporary tunes. 16.01.2022 Hello Steamers Following the latest event space (4 m2) requirement mandated by the Federal Government for entertainment spaces and Covid-19 management, the Crew and Bands have been agonising about where the Decoy is positioned as a venue - outdoor or indoor, and what is the best thing to do considering the rationale and irrational emotions being proffered. It has been draining to say the least. We hate capitulating and cancelling, particularly as there is a large cohort of en...thusiastic steamers hoping for a last hurrah. But capitulate we must, as there are equal numbers who are anxious about congregating and possible defying the recent rules, and we are not sure in that regard. As we now have officially cancelled, all tickets will be refunded. If you paid by Credit Card, we dont need any more details. If you paid by Bank Transfer, we will need your bank account details. We completely support the State Governments decisions to date and wish to support the road they are taking. It is very difficult to walk the fine line between trowing the local economy under the bus while trying to flatten the Covid-19 contagion curve in W.A. 11.01.2022 Covid-19 (updated 20/03/20) We are watching closely the guidelines and regulation being released by Government concerning Covid-19. Outdoor venues such as the Decoy (open air/alfresco), are still allowed to accommodate up to 500 persons. Clearly, we will be well below that number (approx 70 persons). So to confirm, and considering the Covid-19 advice and regulations issued by Governments and health authorities at this stage, we are planning to cruise while we can and enjoy th...e Perth weather, the beautiful Swan River while listening to great live music. We look forward to our final cruises as we are in no doubt that the advice regarding venues and gatherings from the authorities will change over the next week or so, and that the curtain will eventually come down for event spaces like ours and remain down until some date in 2021. While the risks of having someone on-board with the virus is still extremely unlikely at this stage, we will have hand sanitisers at the bar and be using antibacterial liquids (breaking out the Dettol remember that one?) to wipe surfaces. As always there is hot water and soap available in the bathrooms which remains the best method of cleaning your hands. See more

09.01.2022 Bill Withers was an unlikely musical success as he started late in life and didn’t fit easily into any of the musical categories of the day. With 8 albums, 3 Grammy awards and 6 nominations over his brief 15 year career he has left a legacy of amazing songs that continue to inspire others. Classic songs such as Aint No Sunshine, Just the Two of Us. Lovely Day and Lean On Me will be performed by local band Dilip n the DAVs along with a other favourite songs from h...is discography and also add some of their own material that has been influenced by the master songwriter. Dilip Parekh is an award winning local songwriter and will be accompanied by tenor saxophonist Alannah Chapman, a farmers daughter from Albany who studied jazz at the James Morrison Academy, and Michael Boase who played on two ARIA nominated albums this year with Melbourne Ska Orchestra and Grace Barbe.
