23.01.2022 Hi affiliated clubs and friends The 4th issue of Feathered World is out now. As usual the magazine can be accessed online as follows - On our website www.ccbf...a.org.au and click on the Journals tab. - Via the following URL - https://online.fliphtml5.com/anwr/ebkf/ Please read the minutes of the July meeting in Feathered World for recent matters, however there are a number of issues that require highlighting or have arisen since our July Zoom meeting. 1. COVID-19 Recommendations Update Our most recent July 3rd update, approved at the July meeting is available on our website www.ccbfa.org.au under the documents tab. It is great to see restrictions lifting in a number of states, but sadly the situation is deteriorating in others. If you are running events, please keep abreast of your state’s requirements and we are happy to assist with advice if you are unsure. 2. Guest of Honour Dinner CANCELLED Regretfully, and due to increased COVID-19 restrictions in NSW, we have decided it is best to cancel the 2020 guest of honour dinner. The intention is to recognise our 2020 guests of honour at the 2021 event. 3. NSW Bird Sale Code Review A very positive discussion at our July meeting leading to drafting of a revised code for consideration at our September meeting. If your club runs a bird sale in NSW then I recommend a representative attends our September meeting which will definitely be accessible online via Zoom (not sure if we will be back at Ashfield RSL as well). Many thanks to those working on the draft. 4. NSW Animal Welfare Legislation Meeting On 24/7/20 I attended a meeting in my capacity as VP for Animal Care Australia, to discuss the direction of new animal welfare legislation in NSW which will replace the current Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979. Some very positive indications of where this is heading and almost certainly CCBFA will lead the design of Standards for bird keeping. Similar reviews (and meetings) are taking place in Victoria and WA. Our recent submission to the NSW process is here - https://www.ccbfa.org.au//ccbfa-NSW-animal-welfare-reform- 5. Parrot Imports Draft Risk Analysis At long last the draft risk analysis for parrot imports has been released for consultation. CCBFA will write a submission and we welcome your input. Details are here - https://www.agriculture.gov.au//ri/animal/psittacine-birds NZ is also reviewing avian imports. We are investigating the possibility of including reciprocal arrangements between NZ and Australia which may assist competitive national events. I have made some initial enquiries with both NZ and Australian authorities with preliminary meetings to follow. 6. Online Meeting A number of clubs, including CCBFA, have begun running meetings online via Zoom or similar. It is pleasing to hear this has been a success in trying times. Clearly not the same as face-to-face, but does allow members access to clubs, including those who would not ordinarily be able to attend due to distance, disability, etc. At our July CCBFA meeting it was terrific to communicate directly with a number of our country and interstate clubs. We will continue to use Zoom at our September meeting, even if we are back at Ashfield RSL. I encourage all clubs to consider trying Zoom or similar systems. Kind regards, Sam Sam Davis CCBFA President E: [email protected]

21.01.2022 No a parrot, but impressive!

21.01.2022 Hi affiliate clubs and friends Some snippets from our July 1st meeting follow. As usual, full minutes will be included within the next edition of Feathered Worl...d. COVID-19 Update. A draft document/letter detailing the current COVID-19 situation, including a set of recommendations was tabled, discussed and some edits made. The final document/letter is attached and will be printed in the next edition of Feathered World. Please feel free to distribute to your membership. A copy will be uploaded to our website www.ccbfa.org.au The overriding requirement is that ALL bird events, including shows, sales and club meetings must comply with relevant current state government orders, direction and/or guidelines. NSW Bird Sale Code Review. The current NSW bird sale code was presented along with a range of potential edits previously provided to all clubs. The meeting discussed a number of edits and additions which were then added to the live document. A formatted draft will be prepared and distributed to all clubs in preparation for the September meeting where further informal discussion and edits will be considered. Clubs are asked to submit examples of interstate codes and other bird sale codes so CCBFA with the aim of achieving some consistency and also to add to the discussion. Formal discussion of a first draft to occur at the November CCBFA meeting. Based on feedback to this draft we will consider how to move forward perhaps further drafts will be needed prior to final implementation. Continuation of online meetings Meeting delegates were unanimous in their support of ongoing online meetings via the Zoom platform with many thanking CCBFA for the opportunity. We will make the technology available for the September Ashfield RSL meeting, and hopefully into the future. All club delegates in all locations and states are encouraged to participate. In terms of COVID-19, Australia is in an enviable position internationally, so care is needed to ensure we don’t become too complacent too soon. Best wishes to all as meetings and events cautiously recommence. Regards Sam Sam Davis President - CCBFA E: [email protected] M: 0411 253 512
