21.01.2022 A useful resources from Beyond Blue https://www.beyondblue.org.au//how-mindfulness-can-help-du

21.01.2022 This it touching, and frank, and will be of comfort for some. Grief is personal, and real. What we believe happens to the person at the time of death varies, however their legacy and love for us remains.

21.01.2022 Working from home and using Telehealth creates its own unique need for self-care, our team have been in mixed service delivery mode for a few months now, so we have needed to think about our own health and revisited our own self-care. Have you thought about yours?

20.01.2022 The Psychology CAFFE Team are OUTSTANDING individuals, and it has been my privilege to lead them for ten years now, opening in 2011 as a team we have fostered and developed 30 mental health clinicians, as a team we have supervised 15 clinicians to registration and many to endorsement. Most are still here. They are skilled in working with clients of ALL ages, from birth to death, and are exceptionally skilled in working with trauma, play based therapies and clients from mild ...to complex and severe presentations. They ABSOULTELY deserve this recognition, and I am humbly proud of the amazing culture and family atmosphere they inhabit. Everyday I get to witness the changes they make in peoples worlds, and they absolutely are changing the world one person and one family at a time, because we work with the whole person, not just symptoms, and from each soul we touch, we touch a family, a community and our world.

20.01.2022 We have been trying to contact people on our waitlist - to book an appointment, without success, if you are waiting please contact us, as we can book you in this week.

19.01.2022 Childrens jobs are to Learn and Play, and parents teach them to regulate by co-regulation, support, love and engagement, they also need boundaries to learn respect, and structures that allow them to fail enough to develop resilience, there is so much we do unconsciously ans much of it is helpful, but what about when we make mistakes over and over...with not enough of the above?

19.01.2022 Just one of the types of therapy to help individuals build skills to make life meaningful and worth living...available at Psych Caffe individually and locally in group format.

18.01.2022 This student does a very good job describing the difference between ‘types’ of psychologists. Sadly the diversity of our very skilled profession is shrinking due to the two tier system, she explains why. https://youtu.be/idmnLNL1yCI

18.01.2022 We are all climbing mountains at present, be they psychological, emotional, financial, personal or work related during a pandemic that has changed our world. Psychology Caffe has nearly doubled our capacity in 2019, but we are still struggling to reduce our wait time for you. When this happens we feel very concerned, and also struggle with how to support everyone that needs someone with them on their journey. We feel sad that we have to say no. Not because we want to say no,... because we have to. Because we simply have no space available despite working hard to be as efficient as possible. Thank you for your ongoing patience as we work towards providing the best care we can. Current clients have available spaces as will people once time becomes available when still in our wait list. Whilst we work towards supporting those on our waitlist we have to say no to new referrals, not because we want to, because we have to Psychology Caffe wishes to maintain our quality whilst also increasing our access to you, our community. Our people. Please call us to confirm you remain on our waitlist and we will be with you shortly.

17.01.2022 We very much hope you are all safe. It is impossible not to recognise the substantial need at present, given our fight to bear this. Keep strong and well and be kind and patient. https://mobile.abc.net.au//coronavirus-how-to-ap/12083948

17.01.2022 Starting very soon! A mindful respectful short group programme for parents. A space to reflect on your journey as a parent in todays world. Online Wednesday evening or Thursday morning - no charge if you have been referred to our clinic by your GP. Led by Dr Tracy Spencer and delivered via Zoom. BOOK NOW so you dont miss out - Limited Spaces, and one day nearly full. Call our main office.

17.01.2022 Animal Assisted Therapy - for both clients and team - because we look after both our people that work here, and people who we care for, and help both with their own struggles. So you will find them curled up in our laps as much as yours!! Animals reduce our physiological arousal, provide comfort, connection, and uncomplicated touch and there is nothing better than a purring cat which like bird song actually soothes our nerves. Dogs also help self soothe and regulate - though they don’t purr - and are more likely to adorn you with their rather unique fragrance!!

14.01.2022 Good news for people eligible for a MHCP in tonight’s budget, from 9th October. A GP review of a MHCP is at 10 sessions and a further 10 MBS rebates to a total of 20 rebates in a 12mth episode of care. Telehealth options have also been extended. More announcements to support mental health will be made following the release of the Productivity Commission Report into Mental Health later this month.

13.01.2022 Small achievements can be very satisfactory-and equally importantly noticing the small things - especially in Autumn - can bring joy and contentment. No matter how brief. They change and never stay the same.

12.01.2022 We hope your Sunday has been restful? Psychology Caffe is a member of the Mental Health Council Tasmania, one of the ways we work towards building a healthy community is by contributing information about the regional areas in Tasmania to promote their needs. This is a link to one of the ways they have responded to support you to understand how the NDIS can assist you. Please take a look, it might be helpful for you, or someone you know?... There is lots of useful information: https://reimagine.today/home-page/covid-19/#

12.01.2022 It is almost time for our practice winter retreat. Psych CAFFE is so busy all year, we dont get time to stop and plan, to make sure our clients are getting value, and we find ways to maximise helping people in the most efficent ways. Last year we spend a day together, doing a SWOT analysis of the way we deliver services, as part of our working together, we work on our relationships within the practice, so that we can rumble together with vulnerability when we need to, so tha...t we have relationship with each other to support and thrive. What are you doing this week to build relationships in your circle? Be that at work, or at home. Even more than ever, we need relationships and trust to work together through a pandemic, to acheive learning goals, healing goals, and to thrive in our world

11.01.2022 We recommend this important option for new and expecting parents. Supporting young families is very important to us, and given we continue to have a waitlist please consider this foundation if you are in need of someone to talk to. https://gidgetfoundation.org.au/

10.01.2022 A typical day in the life of a therapy dog....welcoming people back following lifting of restrictions - and playing your part to keep them 1.5m distant...but not from you!

10.01.2022 When things are too much...nature can soothe the soul

10.01.2022 This post says it all so well we are just sharing it here. Thanks Martha Druery for the wisdom and time to share.

09.01.2022 A brave and wonderful young woman. Use her example - Use your voice - for the vulnerable, and for you, for those who cannot yet speak - against the perpetrators - and to fight for your own rights and those of others. Abuse is Never Ok. Her story may be upsetting, but never more than the abuse itself, so paving the way for conversations is important. #LetHerSpeak

This Group is NOT parent therapy - it is for learning new information about how you can grow your child’s brain and help them to manage feelings. Sharing is optional, and it is a safe environment to share the challenges that we are all experiencing as parents in our current world. 04.01.2022 This is a very good idea. Support your local community, if you notice the sign, help out, or make some for a neighbour, if they are isolated or alone.

04.01.2022 As we start to open up... You do You, Ill do me. We will do us. Thats what we should all be about. None of us have the same circumstances (medically high risk child/family member or a business about to go under, etc.). Lets all stay in our own lanes and keep the judgment down as we begin to find our new normal. No one should feel pressured either way.... Please remember: Some people dont agree with opening...thats okay. Be Kind. Some people are still planning to stay home...thats okay. Be Kind. Some are still scared of getting the virus and a second wave happening...thats okay. Be Kind. Some are sighing with relief to go back to work knowing they may not lose their business or their homes...thats okay. Be Kind. Some people already lost their jobs and businesses. Be Kind. Some are thankful they can finally have a surgery they have put off...thats okay. Be Kind. Some will be able to attend interviews after weeks without a job...thats okay. Be Kind. Some will wear masks for weeks...thats okay. Be Kind. Some people will rush out to get their hair or nails done...thats okay. Be Kind. The point is, everyone has different viewpoints/feelings and thats okay. Be Kind. We each have a different story. If you need to stay home, stay home...But Be Kind . If you need to go out, just respect others when in public and Be Kind! Dont judge fellow humans because youre not in their story. We all are in different mental states than we were months ago. So remember, Be Kind. Please copy, paste & post

01.01.2022 Some more breaking supermarket news this morning ...for NDIS participants and parents. The Minister for the NDIS has announced that NDIS participants will now be given priority for home delivery from supermarkets. From tomorrow NDIS participants will be able to order on line and have their shopping delivered to their door.... All participants will be sent a code by text or email tomorrow. You can then order your shopping on line and enter the code when prompted. This is available for all Woolworths, Coles, IGA, Foodworks and Harris Farm supermarkets. This is available to ALL NDIS participants. If your child is an NDIS participant you may also use the service. There is more information here - https://www.ndis.gov.au//4703-priority-home-delivery-servi There are questions and answers here - https://www.ndis.gov.au/cor/priority-home-delivery-services Media coverage here - https://www.smh.com.au//supermarkets-set-to-prioritise-foo This is fantastic news for NDIS participants and their families. We have heard lots of stories about people having trouble with their shopping and this will really help. We hope this kind of assistance will be extended very soon to all people with disability, regardless of whether they are an NDIS participant or not. Please share so we can get the word out. (Image description: Picture of some groceries laid out on a table. Some of the groceries are in a box while others are sitting beside it. It includes things like chips, bread rolls and Tim Tams.
