25.01.2022 Its hard to believe people still have these old Federal boards at home, which have no electrocution protection on any circuits. Before building works commenced here, we disconnected all circuits and installed temporary power protected by an RCBO meaning everyone on site is safe. 20.01.2022 Luckily the fuse had been pulled before going in the roof space here. Guy had bypassed the meter and joined onto the mains cable in the roof space for his grow house. Then disappeared and left the mains cables LIVE and open ends in the roof. Fans were working fine but a simple electrical safety check found water ingress, poor condition neutral bar, and isolator wouldnt switch off. 19.01.2022 Nice win for the customer here! They had 2 quotes for a full days work, surface conduit around the double storey new build home and new coaxial cable run to the lounge for NBN connection. We turned up to quote, and within the 1st hour of being on site we found existing cables that had never been terminated behind the wall, tested end-end and modem connected to new wall plate. Underground conduits and NBN cabling installed, with a few feature lights and additional power points. 15.01.2022 This could’ve killed someone! Went to install a safety switch and found someone had terminated a circuit at the top of the main switch. A fault could’ve caused a fire, the owners or a sparky could’ve been electrocuted. I think there needs to be a mandatory electrical health check on all properties within a given timeframe in Australia, just like in the Uk. This could’ve ended so much worse.... 15.01.2022 Using the big boy crimper today! Emergency mains upgrade following a defect issued for no clear access to mains box. Consumer mains extended to the new point of attachment and mains box to meet regulations. We managed to carry out repairs, electrical inspection and get power reconnected the same day. ... Be aware when carrying out renovations, like this verandah, as the power company will issue defects of no access to the mains box. 08.01.2022 Whilst on site to make safe a few cables for other trades, we carried out an RCD test at the switchboard. This found a faulty RCD that wouldnt trip during fault conditions, meaning no electrocution protection on any circuits for the workers or the owner! We installed all new RCBOs that day, ensuring everyone is safe. Remember to push the TEST button on your RCDs or RCBOs at least every 3 months.
