25.01.2022 GORGE-OUS DAY IN THE WATER Students at Wananami Remote Community School enjoyed interm swimming lessons in the beautiful Manning Gorge, one of the Kimberley's best swimming spots! Running for its second year, the program has been adapted to teach kids vital skills to keep them safe in the water. What a location to learn to swim!

"We've known about these stories since we were kids, and to see it on a screen, the students have done really well I'm proud of them and I'm proud of my ancestors and my stories," Noongar elder Kelvin Garlett said. #NAIDOCWeek2020

Leavers heading to the South West to celebrate need to download the Leavers WA app and register their details before purchasing a wristband. The app will also give you all the latest info on events, getting around and tips to stay safe. 19.01.2022 MARVELLING AT THIS MELVILLE MURAL Applecross Senior High School's Year 8, 9 and 10 Gifted and Talented Visual Arts students have completed this incredible mural at Westfield Booragoon. ‘Our Melville, a view from Booragoon’ shows the story of the City of Melville and the suburb of Booragoon bringing to life the personality of the neighbourhood. 18.01.2022 MURAL MAGIC South Coogee Primary School celebrated the start of #NAIDOC2020 with the opening of their new mural. Inside the Rainbow Serpent known by the Noongar as the Waugal, all staff and students placed their hand prints in a variety of colours to show the rainbow scales. In the mural the Waugal wraps itself around the six seasons to keep the balance of life in order. Thanks to Len Thorne who is the school's Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, a parent and artist who designed and painted the giant mural

18.01.2022 NO PROBLEM IS TOO BIG Drones to help those affected by disasters, technology to stop deforestation, and artificial photosynthesis to combat pollution these are just some of the ideas workshopped by students at the STEMing from Asia Digital Youth Summit last week. 32 teams with over 250 students across WA participated in our Summit to explore innovative solutions to some of the world's biggest challenges. 17.01.2022 A SANDING OVATION As part of Tuart Rise Primary School's #NAIDOC2020 celebrations students created an amazing sand art installation with help from Acacia Cultural Designs. The 3 circles represent the large tuart tress in the school's playground and the 3 rings inside the circle symbolise early childhood, junior and upper schools. The 6 lines connecting the design show the school's six year journey. Amazing job to all the teachers and students involved

13.01.2022 PLANTING HISTORY Two new Aleppo pines propagated from the Aleppo pine at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra were planted in a ceremony yesterday at Bob Hawke College. They sit among original Aleppo pines sown from seeds brought from Gallipoli in the 1920s in remembrance of those who fought for us. The local community, City of Subiaco, DevelopmentWA and the College came together to source and plant the new pines in time for #RemembranceDay. Students were asked to look after these trees, because they are special, and one day return and see them tower above you. #WeRememberThem
