12.01.2022 Downtime delight! You can now see a whole gallery here of fabulous works our clever and industrious creatives made during the "downtime'' period, when the Arts... Centre was closed, March - July 7. Painters became crafters and sculptors, glass artists took up paint brushes, mediums swapped and tasted gave rise to a whole new body of work. We are thrilled to show some of it here - until August 8. Be quick. The red dots are coming out fast.

06.01.2022 It's a big week for the Cairns Art Gallery this week, as the Gallery turns 25 on Wednesday 15 July. Of course, our beautiful home is much older than that, havi...ng been built between 1934-36 and serving as a Government building for Department of Land, Department of Forestry and the Public Trustee's building in the early years, and as the department of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the 80s. The Gallery would not have been possible without the support of the people of Cairns who donated time and money to bringing the dream of a Gallery to life. See more

05.01.2022 EXHIBITION | AboutFace - artisan invited the making community to make, remodel, embellish and decorate the simple home-made surgical mask as a creative reflecti...on of the current global experience. #in acknowledgement of the indiscriminate nature of this crisis, to make this a level playing field, the works are displayed anonymously. Individual masks are only identifiable by the title of the work until the shows conclusion and can be purchased in-store. AboutFace can be viewed now in our King St window until August 22. 05.01.2022 Hi everyone It has been a very strange year for us all. Lapunyah Art Gallery has reopened with only one gallery space (our larger Heartwood Gallery) operating ...for now and Covid 19 restrictions in place. We have also been informed that the entire Chinchilla Cultural Centre is to be redeveloped, so we have been in consultation with the architects in redesigning our gallery space. We are looking forward to an updated space with 2 exhibition spaces, a very enlarged workshop area and more storage capacity. This will be a fantastic asset for our local community and the Western Downs region. We don’t know when the redevelopment will happen, and when it does we will have to close down Lapunyah again. So for now we are keeping our exhibitions and workshops limited, and not holding Previews or Artists Walks. Workshops by exhibiting artists can still be held (off campus) but are subject to Covid 19 restrictions. Regarding 2021 we have two spaces available in our exhibition schedule: Sat 13th February Wednesday 17th March (5 weeks) Half Gallery only, $25 booking fee Saturday 13th November Wednesday 22nd December (6 weeks) Half Gallery $25 booking fee or Full Gallery $50 booking fee If you are interested in exhibiting on any of the above dates, please contact us on [email protected] or on 07 4668 9908. Thankyou for your support over the last few months and into the future.

04.01.2022 CELEBRATING OUR 30TH // The Warwick Art Gallery turns thirty this year. Instead of holding an event we are going to share thirty stories, one for each year, tha...t represent the prominent and significant input our exhibitions and projects have made to the community of Warwick. Story 6 This is just one of many brilliant ideas we have discovered while researching. The International Warwick exhibition in August 1992 was an exchange exhibition proposed and supported by the Warwick Rotary Club. Students from three different Warwicks created the artworks for this exhibition that eventually travelled from our Warwick to Warwick in Rhode Island USA and Warwickshire in England. We hope you enjoy these stories. It has been a pleasure to peruse the Gallery’s archives to rediscover all the wonderful exhibitions, artists, volunteers and staff who have ensured the Gallery’s position as a vital and valuable community asset. Survey here: https://institutepm.syd1.qualtrics.com//form/SV_b964To5D1r The survey data will result in a flagship report into the status, and the economic and social value of volunteering through a State of Volunteering report in Queensland. This report will provide an empirical evidence base from which the value and impact of volunte...ering can be evaluated and celebrated. This is your chance to show decision-makers the true value of volunteering in Queensland. This is a Queensland first and you can help us be a part of this inaugural report by taking this survey (or forwarding it onto the appropriate person in your organisation).
