18.01.2022 Our fuzzy friends polka dot , Amelia egghart, and Hattie the hen love exploring our outdoor area and having cuddles with the children. While children love furry and feathery cuddles and experience the different ways that animals look, eat, move, sound and feel-research also shows that animal interactions can actually improve children's social interactions, reduce anxiety, and increase motivation. Many believe that animals can be the 'fourth teacher's- a conduit to learning and a way to incorporate the Reggio Emilia approach in our program.

16.01.2022 Extending upon the children’s fine motor and sensory skills. The children used tweezers at the finger gym to pick up different t coloured eggs and sort them based on their colours to different trays. Easter sensory mats: helps to build nerve connections in the brain. It encourages the development of motor skills. It supports language development.... It encourages 'scientific thinking' and problem solving. It can involve mindful activities which are beneficial for all children. See more

15.01.2022 March 2021 is Veggie Month! At Puddleducks, we are utilising this wonderful opportunity to teach our children about the importance of vegetables in their own lives and in the world around them. As part of this new learning journey, we will focusing our intentional teaching experiences on: -The importance of vegetables in our everyday diet and their many benefits to our overall health and well-being. This will include a Healthy Harold incursion, where Healthy Harold’s van w...ill visit us to deliver engaging and age appropriate activities to teach the children about making healthy eating choices. -The environmental benefits of growing vegetables in our own veggie garden by using the Woolworths Discovery Garden initiative. - A crunch video streaming veggie experience with other preschool who are also participating in Veggie month! This will allow us to make connections to other preschool who are a learning about the same topic -Students will have opportunities to use their five senses to taste, smell and feel the different vegetables we will grow. This will also be linked to numeracy concepts as it will be very exciting to measure the growth over the vegetables in our own Puddle Ducks garden over the month of March. -We love story time each and every day so of course the children will be exposed to a range of books about healthy eating and vegetables. -Students will also be encouraged to think scientifically by predicting which veggies they think will grow the fastest in our garden. -Information for parents on positive eating habits will be displayed on our Health and Safety board throughout the month of March. We are very excited about Veggie Month!

13.01.2022 Healthy Harold incursion This morning we enjoyed a visit from Harold and his helper Kylie. Harold and Kylie talked about how important it is to have a healthy lifestyle by choosing healthy foods, exercising, brushing our teeth, and wearing sun protection when outside. The Puddleducks all got to participate in this fun presentation by helping Harold pack his lunchbox with healthy snacks and practicing brushing the funny big teeth . We also practiced some stretching and had a boogie to the music to get our bodies moving. Thank you Harold and Kylie for visiting us and and talking to us about staying healthy.

Week by week the Ducks will be measuring our plants using a ruler as a formal measurement tool.. Miss Steph modelled how to hold the ruler at the base of the stem and read the numbers where the seedling is touching at its highest point. Miss Steph intentionally made a number graph as a visual aid to discuss mathematical and critical thinking skills as I que...stioned them about identifying seedling which grew the most and the least amount! The children continued to work on their guided artwork about vegetables that grow under ground. They developed their fine motor skills as they used scissors to cut around the veggies, and glueing and pasting skills
