18.01.2022 The bill that plans to merge the Family Court and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia is back before the senate today. Introduced in 2018, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Bill aims to collapse the Family Court into a generalised court system, making it easier for families to navigate a single-point court entry system with uniform rules, procedures and practices. The proposal has amassed more than 155 family law stakeholders that are firmly opposing the ch...ange, citing that it will pose an unnecessary risk to children and victims of violence. There are concerns that the merge lacks evidential basis and will result in longer delays for cases to be heard. The decision now rests upon independent Senator Rex Patrick to support the merge and the Morrison government is confident that the bill will pass today. If you are looking for advice on how this news could affect your case, get in contact with the Pullos Lawyers team. https://bit.ly/3rTOo31
