17.01.2022 With the help of our #COVID19 Expert Working Group, we are answering the most frequently asked questions from our community about social distancing and self-iso...lation. Now more than ever, it’s important to prioritise your health. This might mean ceasing unnecessary physical interactions, limiting time outside of the home and talking to your friends and family about what you need during this time. If people need to visit your home, ask them to wash their hands thoroughly on arriving, maintain physical distance from you and avoid touching anything unnecessarily. We’ve developed a poster that you can hang on your front door as a reminder to anyone who might be entering your home. To find out more about social distancing and download the poster, visit: https://bit.ly/33V4z5h #UnitedAgainstCOVID19

04.01.2022 We have been made aware of some inaccurate information circulating social media regarding rescue packs to be provided to people with asthma or Chronic Obstruc...tive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. This scheme is not available in Australia and people living with asthma or COPD unfortunately cannot receive a pack from a pharmacy, GP or hospital at this point. If your symptoms worsen, follow your written asthma or COPD action plan. If you do not have one, or your plan is not up-to date, please consult your doctor as soon as possible. As #COVID19 has put strain on our hospitals, we encourage people with lung conditions to follow your self-management advice as best as possible to avoid medical intervention. It’s also important for people with pre-existing conditions to avoid hospitals where possible to reduce the risk of infection. For more advice about self-management during this time, please visit: https://bit.ly/2Uq8l2j.

04.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: Lung Foundation Australia strongly supports the new social distancing restrictions announced by the Federal Government on 29 March 2020. Under ...the new restrictions people over 70, or over 60 living with a pre-existing condition, or indigenous people aged over 50 are to stay home wherever possible for their own protection. Now is the time to prioritise your health and practice social distancing precautions. To help with these measures, home delivery of medication and groceries are either available now or launching soon to support priority Australians. Visit our website for more information about these delivery services, and tips for practicing social distancing, https://bit.ly/2UKcY7A. #COVID19 #UnitedAgainstCOVID19

03.01.2022 #COVID-19 UPDATE: Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients to continue to use their prescribed medications during the coronavirus (COVID...-19) outbreak. You may have heard that corticosteroids should be avoided during the COVID-19 outbreak, however, this information is referring to the non-indicated use of oral corticosteroids. All patients who are prescribed regular inhaled corticosteroid medications (known as preventers) and/or long-term oral corticosteroids should continue to take their medication unless advised otherwise by their doctor. Stopping any inhaled asthma or COPD medication suddenly may lead to a worsening of your symptoms or a flare-up in your condition. If you are on long-term oral corticosteroid medications (tablets) you should not suddenly stop this medication. Only ever stop or reduce any medication doses under direct instruction for your treating healthcare team or GP. If your symptoms worsen, follow your written asthma or COPD action plan. If you do not have one, or your plan is not up-to date, consult your doctor. For more information about COVID-19, visit: https://bit.ly/2Uq8l2j.
